Could have done a go fund me for $20-25K and gotten a REAL completely restored one with mostly original parts. All about clicks and views. Only the frame is from the original pulled from the forest. It was a lost cause but they did this all for dragging on for clicks and likes. This was not a recovery or restoration. Even the body was a donor body. NOTHING else other than the frame from the original nugget. This is a custom vehicle with parts from many different car models. Can never be worked on properly by any other mechanic as it's NOT an LJ20. Just a frame and body from two different ones and that's all!
The worlds most valuable LJ20. I'm glad Ed's happy! He seems like a good dude.

The cost for love towards Ed: PRICELESS Thanks Robby for sharing with us all the hard work and love you guys put into this gift.
The AWESOME part of this whole project was that none of the folks involved were concerned about the cost to them. True friends will do something for friends without thinking about what it will cost them.

The smile and joy glowing from Ed is completely priceless. Thank you guys for being so amazing
Loved it Matt's reaction when Ed said Matt would scratch up the paint on the Nugget needing spot paint.🤣🤣
It all comes down to the LOVE that you ALL put into this build for Ed! Money means nothing and I am totally beside myself on what all of you did for Ed!!! Thanks to you all......

I'm at a loss for words. Thank you all for doing this for Ed.
One of my favorite parts of the reveal video on Matt's channel was Ed riding the Rokon briefly at the end. I had said how Rokon would love Ed's bike as a showpiece but i'd love seeing Ed use it... but a couple ppl said "he's too old to ride it." It was great to see him chug along on it a bit.
The LOVE that was put into it for Ed was priceless! Great job to the Robby Layton crew!
Dam Robby, I came to your channel to see the Nuget rebuild. I will stick with you because of you, your wife and kids. But most importantly your crew. How far you and your team go above and beyond is unbelievable. I will wear my Robby Layton proudly knowing it helped to rebuild that truck. Thanks guys for the great video and for being people that this great country was founded on.

Robby, I really appreciate you being willing to say a figure on the Nugget. It's frustrating when people keep talking about their sacrifice like it was some industry secret, never to be disclosed. Only the privileged few. I've been stumbling through life, figuring out the hard way, and I know that you've invested allot with your team. Thank you! You've all done well! Not that I'll ever have a project like that. But, it helps to have an idea what a dream might cost realistically. 👍👍

Golden Nugget was a masterclass in restoration. Worthy of being displayed at Concours car shows. The details and execution were outstanding. The car and bike are actually capable of serious off-roading unlike most garage queens.

In a way the cost was immaterial. We always knew that it was never a rational economic investment directly. But indirectly it has been worth it many times over.
All of you involved are the greatest people. THANK YOU!
First off this was an amazing build to watch, the passion and quality of work that went into this is unmatched. Thank you all for doing this for Ed and sharing it with all of us. But let's be real, you are way under valuing your labor at $50.00 an hour, especially for the quality of work. Realistically someone would be paying $100-150+ an hour if they paid a shop to do a rebuild like this, putting the cost closer to $150k. Add in the all the other creators work and the cost of the recovery and you are looking at a $250-300k rebuild.

2 жыл бұрын
@@joeashbubemma Really? What do you think the shop rate is for show quality body work? You can't even find a low skill oil change only grease monkey mechanic for $50/hr shop rate. Yes, the Golden Nugget's Blue book value doesn't support the investment, but very few show quality restomods do. The investment is into Ed.
@rupe53
2 жыл бұрын
Body shops are at an unfair comparison because shop labor is basically set by the insurance industry. Why? Because most shops get their business from collision work, and that sets the trend. Nation wide, most typical repair shops are probably between $75 - $100 an hour, which is where the free market allows them to go. Specialty shops are still higher, with some fabrication shops topping out the crowd.
@rodneymartin6154
2 жыл бұрын
@@rupe53 try 100-150 an hour in 2022 for independent shops. More at most dealers. You're right about body shops having to charge less per hour for insurance but they make it up in the hours billed ie a 2 hour fender hang billing out at 8 or more

I guessed around $350k all together with the recovery, Paul, Bikes & Beards, the trailer (which had to be redone twice). I am sure there were other costs that didn't get tallied. The fact the whole build was kept to under $300k is astounding. Nice work guys.
