Could have done a go fund me for $20-25K and gotten a REAL completely restored one with mostly original parts. All about clicks and views. Only the frame is from the original pulled from the forest. It was a lost cause but they did this all for dragging on for clicks and likes. This was not a recovery or restoration. Even the body was a donor body. NOTHING else other than the frame from the original nugget. This is a custom vehicle with parts from many different car models. Can never be worked on properly by any other mechanic as it's NOT an LJ20. Just a frame and body from two different ones and that's all!

I don't know how you could do all of that work for only $50/hr. I think you really short changed yourself. I couldn't believe all of the detailed effort you guys put into restoring it. I would have only expected that amount of detail going into a show vehicle. what a great project you took on and what an amazing final product.

Maybe it’s a lot cheaper to live in that area of Utah? Bringing all relative costs down. I work in Toronto and make about double what someone would make doing my job in the country as a carpenter

Ultimate respect to all the crews involved!! You did this project out of love for Ed and what he means to you all. If it had been done here in Chicago, the labor rates would have easily been double or triple. Robby and crew get ready to be busy!! Your integrity and quality of work and rates are going to have customers lined up for miles!

First off this was an amazing build to watch, the passion and quality of work that went into this is unmatched. Thank you all for doing this for Ed and sharing it with all of us. But let's be real, you are way under valuing your labor at $50.00 an hour, especially for the quality of work. Realistically someone would be paying $100-150+ an hour if they paid a shop to do a rebuild like this, putting the cost closer to $150k. Add in the all the other creators work and the cost of the recovery and you are looking at a $250-300k rebuild.

You have to be OUT OF YOUR MIND to pay that much. No reflection on Ed or all the work that was put into this project but if it truly costs that much, I don't know how anyone can stay in business. Delusional.

@@joeashbubemma Really? What do you think the shop rate is for show quality body work? You can't even find a low skill oil change only grease monkey mechanic for $50/hr shop rate. Yes, the Golden Nugget's Blue book value doesn't support the investment, but very few show quality restomods do. The investment is into Ed.

Body shops are at an unfair comparison because shop labor is basically set by the insurance industry. Why? Because most shops get their business from collision work, and that sets the trend. Nation wide, most typical repair shops are probably between $75 - $100 an hour, which is where the free market allows them to go. Specialty shops are still higher, with some fabrication shops topping out the crowd.

@@rupe53 try 100-150 an hour in 2022 for independent shops. More at most dealers. You're right about body shops having to charge less per hour for insurance but they make it up in the hours billed ie a 2 hour fender hang billing out at 8 or more

I guessed around $350k all together with the recovery, Paul, Bikes & Beards, the trailer (which had to be redone twice). I am sure there were other costs that didn't get tallied. The fact the whole build was kept to under $300k is astounding. Nice work guys.
