If that wasn't enough, used the justice department to pressure GoFundMe, PayPal and few other money dealing companies to close any fund raise or account linked to the truckers and anyone supporting them. and then, set the police at the peaceful protests, and police, being the sh*t they are, obviously stood with the regime and went against the citizens protesting

It's not that you can't do it, but I'm pretty sure there's rules around it. Rules that should be enforced, and given that you may have done this up to 3 times, I would hope you know this now. If it's more the Bank that you bank at was seized, 3 times no less, there's the Deposit Insurance that should make you whole, though maybe investigate the next bank you use pretty closely.

The system is 'fractional reserve banking' which means they only hold a fraction of the money you deposited and lend out the rest to make more money. Every time you go to a branch in Australia to withdraw YOUR money they want to know what you're going to do with it even though it is none of their business. They don’t want to give you your cash (especially large sums) because 1. they haven’t got all of it and 2 because of the push for a cashless society. I got so tired of the interrogation at the branches that i decided to withdraw large sums of money every day at different ATM’s. With the excuse of ‘suspicious of fraudulent activity’ they froze my accounts for 3 months therefore freezing my life. Long story short, they could not prove any fraudulent activity because there was none and my accounts were eventually opened again. They get away with it because one supposedly agrees to their terms and conditions upon opening a bank account. They froze the account of a lawyer called Serene Teffaha after she initiated a class action law suite against the Victorian government. Why? Because Banks and governments are part of the same cartel. The Australian Financial Complaints Authority do nothing because they are bought by the banks. I’ve yet to hear anything positive about this bad joke of an organization. It's what I've said for years, but nobody listens, and they are surprised every time they hear about such events. If people took the time to understand how banks work, this would not be a surprise. When you make a deposit to a bank you are giving the bank that money. It is no longer yours, it belongs to the bank. You enter an agreement by which that money can be repaid on request, but that agreement has many caveats. Essentially, there are numerous situations in which the bank can refuse to pay back your money and are not required to tell you why. There is no time limit on such a freeze and thus a bank can 'keep your money' for ever. This is entirely legal and there is no way for you to challenge this. What's more, UK and EU law demands that banks have these measures in place. If you deposit money with any financial institution then you agree to these terms. It's also worth saying that these specific measures do not originate with the bank, but are mandated in law by all Western governments. No financial institution can operate outside these laws, meaning that it is impossible to find a bank that does not indulge in these measures.

    We know all that, and those are standard ass-covering things. If you were a drug dealer and the state asked for your assets to be frozen or whatever, the bank would have to comply. These kinds of caveats in the contracts existed so you couldn't just sue the bank about it. What's novel is not banks having such conditions on the agreements. It them being used for political reasons, and quite often too, or even openly (e..g canadian truckers). The banks always had those caveats, but they didn't use to do this in this way until quite recently.

  • @Ardwick-Crome

    @@foljs5858 It doesn't matter, because my point is that what the banks are doing is legal. And as a customer, you agree to it. And people don't understand that. And 'political' speech isn't really the issue. That got Farage shut down, and a few other high profile people, but the vast majority of ordinary citizens being debanked in the UK are not debanked because of their politics. Pretty obviously. The bank doesn't know my politics or yours, or the politics of 99.9% of their client base. What's needed is a law to prevent banks refusing custom, and prevent them debanking anyone unless proven criminality is involved.

  • @foljs5858

    @foljs5858

    @@Ardwick-CromeLegal or not doesn't matter. Even if something ain't legal, it can always be made into legal, if those in power want to do it. And when those in power really want to do something, they can do it illegally too - it's not like the law will stop them (they ARE the law). Plenty of examples. This also goes for things like Bitcoin. Just having BTC and not having signed any contract with a bank making its forfeiture legal is a mere technicallity, and wont really save you. In the end, those in power can just decide to do whatever with them, confiscate them, declare their ownership illegal and treat you as a criminal if they find you own some, and so on. What changes things is the power balance between the people and those in power. If the latter have nothing to fear of, they will do anything they like, law or not law.

    The law distinguishes between possession and property. The money you give to the bank is still your property inasmuch as money can be anyone's property, the bank merely has it in its possession. You don't give up ownership by handing it to a fiduciary. Freezing the account is something only technically done by the bank, they are not allowed to do that on their own authority. They do, however, have to comply with legal requirements. Bank accounts are frozen as soon as the bank learns that the account holder has died, or if a judge orders them to. Cash doesn't really help you there either. Each bank note has a serial number, and for example notes stolen during a bank robbery are marked as invalid for insurance reasons, making them effectively forgeries. The only two graces there are that not everyone immediately verifies bank notes, and that the authorities might not know which notes are yours. Freezing your assets is a 21st century analogue of excommunication.

    @@davidwuhrer6704 "The law distinguishes between possession and property. The money you give to the bank is still your property inasmuch as money can be anyone's property, the bank merely has it in its possession. You don't give up ownership by handing it to a fiduciary." That's absolutely not true. This is what most people believe and it's completely wrong. When you deposit money into the bank the money becomes the property of the bank and you become the creditor. There's no legal grey area here; the money is no longer yours.

    Fortunately, in practically all countries in the world, the banking system is part of the government, not a private institution serving the private interests of privateers. So what happened here was not because of a banker, and it was not because of debt. It was because of politics. Not because someone controls the banks of one or more countries (nobody actually does that, not even the Bank of England), but because one or more politicians decided that a good friend giving good dinners should have more of a voice than the electorate.

    @@demz3514 Actually, the EU has a law against specifically that. The only tax information the bank sends is capital tax, to the finance ministry. Transactions within the bank stay within the bank. Transactions between banks are done by SWIFT in Belgium, and it is well documented that the NSA is spying on SWIFT, which is why there is a law against transmitting any government information to the USA, and private information only with explicit permission. (Of course it would be unreasonable to assume the data isn't shared illegally or involuntarily. The USA have a law that requires each subsidiary of any American company to share all their data with the Intelligence Community, which means Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Amazon; but not the European banks or SWIFT.) Even assuming the USA had access to all bank records (which they don't), this wouldn't give them jurisdiction over any of it. Even though they like to believe that they do. Also: Nice strawman. I never said that all countries control the banking system. What I said is something so different that it's not even the opposite.

Fun fact: when CRA or your provincial tax authority serves a demand for payment upon a financial institution, they do not disclose anything, beyond which tax act was breached. yes, this is a problem because people think we are the owners of personal bank accounts. No, that is not true, we are only users of "our" bank accounts. The same applies to money, we are only users of their money, it is not our money. The owner of money is the ECB , if we are talking about the euro

    If someone doesn't worry, must worry seriously! For sure, this has nothing to do with a specific Bank. It could be any Bank where anyone is placing his deposits!

    What makes you think you aren't in one? See, you define countries like North Korea as a dictatorship, but they affect North Koreans. The west are a dictatorship towards everyone else not in their "club."
