When John Mayer Uses The Way Huge Aqua-Puss | 4 Examples

Ойын-сауық

Contrary to popular belief, John Mayer does not set his Aqua-Puss as an always on pedal. In todays video, we will go over 4 times John has chosen to use this pedal for his signature slapback delay sound.

Great video! One thing however, that last example of Wild Blue, yes I’m sure the AP is on, but it’s not actually as pronounced as it seems in that clip. That exaggerated slap back is a result of being so close to his actual amp rig that you’re first hearing the rig right off the stage and then that slight latency as it comes through and out of the PA system

This videos series are great. I really love them. But I'd like to share my opinion despite of being not a great guitarrist or pedals specialist. And it is just because of my condition I like to say something. I got AP in my board for a long time by now and I had just searched for my ideal tone and tried to copy john's a lot. I tried different pedals and while some of them are not so great, some of them a great. It is too hard to tell apart pedal effects. Some of them are very similar and trick and few of us would really make it in a blind test. I am in the team that can not say it. But let us say that while it is interesting to know ones gear, the details and etc, it is not something we should matter. AP mkI and mkII are very similar. Also the tube screamers. Who can really tell them apart by listening (ts9, ts808 and ts10). John's tone is an inspiration to me but that is his sound, his "voice"... Still my inspiration, but now I am trying to discover what I really like, to deep in the sound that makes me happy. It is just my take.

Great vid but the Wild Blue vid from the SR Tour isn’t because of the Aqua Puss. I’ve watched the whole concert vid from that upload and it’s all delayed. It’s the recording. Some weird delay issue. 😊

Joyo NASCAR is a warm analog delay. It might be a little too warm or dark but I’m not a delay guy but to my ears most analog delays will get you there. I wouldn’t pay more than a hundred for any analog delay and definitely give some of the cheap ones a try especially if it’s a first delay pedal.

Did he use 2 delays for Vultures when he played it on TRY! because that is the definitive version. Would have been good if you'd actually covered HOW he used it rather than just play some clips and say that he's using the Aqua Puss. And that video of Wild Blue is the delay from the PA vs Stage sound, NOT the Aqua Puss 🤦🏻‍♂️

By that logic any KZreadr is obsessed about whatever topic their content is about. Why wouldn't I focus on the two players who inspire me the most when I have the current knowledge and the care to take the time to research this stuff in order to then share it with my audience? It's not like I only care about Mayer gear, I own two vintage Les Pauls, or listen to John Mayer exclusively, christ I could never workout then. Yet people like you think it's what my entire world revolves around which is very amusing.
