    For me, its more about how the delay makes your playing feel than sound. That's probably why we have a hard time hearing it live, but John still engages it.

    Thank you for the information! Can you do a similar video about his use of overdrives - the settings on each and the various ways he stacks them (TS10 > Klon, or vice versa) plus his addition of the third overdrive (Bluesbreaker, etc.).

  • @adrianhjordan1981

    Problem with overdrives is it gets really complicated. Not just the usual variance in pot values, but you add in the importance or pickup output (including heights), how hard or soft you pick, what gauge strings you use, what amp you're running into, how loud you're playing and even what the eq of your actual physical guitar is.... So while you can copy John's settings, you probably won't get the same tone.

    awesome video! Would love to hear cover of bold as love, lenny, gravity through your awesome rig! Also, through my speakers I was hearing lotta clipping when you were doing solo to waiting on the world to change. I am guessing its coz the signal is too loud before it reaches the compressor plugin in UAD ox box. Thats why in your DAW i don't see the signal hitting red, but in my speakers i can hear it and see that its clipping. :) worth looking into.

    it changes nothing in terms of sound but Blue chips "feel" amazing when you use them. I had mine for 2 years and no sign of use. It's best to pick one when you are sure about what your favourite pick is like

    Hi. I've just bought a second aqua puss as I'm tired of swapping the one have between two boards. Just noticed though that below the foot switch the text on one simply says WAY HUGE ELECTRONICS and the other sats WAY HUGE by GEORGE TRIPP. Do you know if there is an difference or is it just cosmetic?

    Thanks for the fantastic tips! Cool vid as always. One question, though: Is it possible to get the Way Huge Supa-Puss in the same ballpark as the Aqua Puss for the John Mayer effect? I currently only own that pedal, since I use that one for all sorts of songs that I play with my band.

  • @JustinJeske

    @JustinJeske

    I’m honestly not sure since I’ve never played one! If you can isolate it to just one repeat and at that ball park slapback time and blend, it should work just fine!

    I don't generally show my amp settings cause unless you have a Two Rock Trad Clean they don't really matter. Every amp is different so there is no one magic way to set you EQ. You gotta use your ear and just balance it out to that sound!

    Argh! Mk is short for "Mark". They're Mark 2, and Mark 3, not Em-kay 2 and Em-kay 3! Great video otherwise, but that grates every time I hear it!

    No offense to anyone, but I’m figuring out that way too much emphasis is put on obsessing over minuscule nuances of an artists tone. It’s time waisted when one could be improving their chops. Some basic pedals can get you there. Just play. I’m opting to get away from these sorts of videos..Tone, settings, etc, are subjective.

    Give credit where credit is due.John Mayer has not earned the respect to name one of his songs without mentioning his name in front of it first. He is only known to the yuppie new society of music.The Berkeley scene ,the new age music, the guitar center geeks the pedal geeks , the followers that don't write there own music. Were not talking about The Beatles ware you can just name a song from " The Sargent Peppers album without mentioning The Beatles and have it be known. Many of the greats have no idea of those songs your playing except for the followers themselves.

    For 30 something year old guitar players John Mayer is equivalent to the Beatles. I would process "slow dancing" as being a Mayer track quicker than 'I saw her standing there" as a Beatles track. It's so weird how people cannot process, internalize and then accept this. The guy has been killing it for 20+ years. The Beatles were together for less than 10.... And no, I'm not arguing he's bigger than or better than. It's just that time moves on and new musical heroes rise up. It's the way of the world!
