    It's all about composure. It's fortunate that the kid and his dad were recording from the start because the cops would have been lying their asses off on their reports. They tried to lie anyway but the kid reminded them it was all already on record. Surprised the cops didn't demand their phones.

    @@ZVT946mtr36 It's upper police management's fault in the end. Cops are rewarded for lying, and benefit from any results from said lies, and punished if they tell the truth. Airline pilot profession is an interesting contrasting case study. Pilots are not sanctioned when they file a report about how and when they screw up. This has directly contributed to the common good.

    This video is about 5 years old. According to the updates: 2 Officers (Sgt. Thor, Ofc Rodregrez (sp?)) have been fired. The third officer (Ofc. Proctor) has a major reprimand on his record. The entire Park City Police Dept. has/had to go thru 1st Amendment training, "Jack" and his father have a major lawsuit against the Park City Police Department and still going thru the Court System, as for Park City's attempt to dismiss, it was denied. As for "Jack" who was 15 years old at the time, he is now 18-19 now, he has been accepted/going to a major university and going thru Pre-Law, last I heard (Thru the 'Lackluster' Channel) he was accepted into law school....

    Thanks for the update. It’s good the PCPD held these Officers accountable and has required more training for the whole Dept. When Police Departments investigate themselves and find “No wrongdoing” and wrongdoing has clearly occurred, it reflects badly on them all. Also glad to hear young Jack has been accepted into Law School, he’s going to be a great litigator. Hopefully he’ll specialize in Constitutional Law.

    5 years and still going through court? Thanks for the update. Maybe you can update us again another 5 years. Assuredly, the case should be done by then and Jack should be a practicing lawyer by then... or at least in an internship. Or maybe the case will be done at the quarter century mark. Do you suppose they'll have to take it all the way to the Supreme Court? Small towns seem to tend to be like this. By the way, those officers looked fat. Isn't there some sort of fitness rule for police?

You're talking about obedience or fear but you are not talking about "respect". You're talking about what cops alone keep ignorantly claiming is respect. You need to look up what respect actually is not what the cops mean it to be because they're quite wrong as far as what respect actually is. This kid is acting very respectful. He's respecting their authority he is respecting their ability, he is respecting his rights, his limits and their limits. He is respecting the law and he is respecting the situation. You're talking about being obedient based on the fear of what they can do to you rather than respecting the legal system that they're supposed to be supporting. You talking about obedience in lieu of respect to someone that does not deserve respect or show respect for their position. You're trying to respect the uniform over the actions. You need to learn what respect actually means because you're basing your beliefs and actions on fear and obedience not "respect". Your attitude teaches them not to respect their job their position or the law that they're there to uphold that you're talking about you still having an obligation to respect?? Your comment about they are still the cops doesn't seem to focus on the fact that they're not being cops, they're not being respectful and they're not doing their job as a cop and they're not being respectful to their job to their position to the law to their obligations or to the situation. so again you need to learn what "respect" means obviously. Hey this isn't just my opinion this is the opinion of law enforcement after investigating these cops these cops that you just got through defending of they're still the cops well law enforcement looked into them and fired some of them because they were not acting with due respect. So it's not just my opinion that you're wrong It's also the legal system that these cops worked under. Understand at this point you're defending some real dirt here some really bad investigated looked into thoroughly and found to be dirt here not just some people's opinion of a video but rather clearly people with badges that did not deserve the respect that you are offering them

    With the perspective of someone living in the UK, what I can never understand is the instant aggression which comes from the police and instantly they arrest someone. Surely if they explained why they're there first and actually asked questions, all that rubbish can be avoided. There also appears to be an attitude of guilty until proven innocent... very democratic!

    If cops did their job correctly we probably would be more calm and accepting of police. However, they suck straight up. Education and procedures are different from department to department and they expect to be treated like gods and when there is any push back to what they say they get aggressive and do illegal actions towards civilians. Cops are scared of people who know their rights like these guys' because it makes them have to do their job correctly and you can't walk over people like they normally do.

    Not entirely. The fathers reaction when police were at the door was wrong imho. He behaved like an asshole and started off by refusing to cooperate. What if his son is effectively driving reclessly and without the proper licence? He teaches hes son to get away with wrong behaviour and to not take responsibility for his actions. Atleast the man could have had a normal talk with the officers. After that part ofcourse it all went bananas and the cops are 100% in fault on how they (mis)handled the situation.

    Amazing composure for anyone, let alone a fifteen year old boy. So many instances of cops not knowing the law but being put out on the streets, with their administrators encouraging them, and to be honest, in an implied way encouraging them to violate the public's rights.... If the municipality was truly about protecting the public, those cops would be comprehensively trained, and made to understand their duties as an agent of the law.

    This video illustrates the power of simply being informed. In the US you have your Constitutional Rights. Here in Canada we have our Charter Rights (unfortunately not as strong nor as concisely laid out). I have a copy (a book) of my Charter Rights right beside my bed that I read bits of each night. Not because I’m a conspiracy theorist, but because that small bit of continuous reading has saved me thousands of dollars in accumulated attorneys fees. Most people end up requiring an attorney at some point. Attorneys are not cheap. But my lawyer explained that the biggest part of a lawyers job is typically- repairing the damage done by the client because the client failed to use their constitutional/charter/Miranda rights to remain silent and have legal representation. Cops should hate ‘criminals’, but they don’t. Criminals are why cops have jobs. What cops truly hate is citizens that know their Rights. Knowing your rights forces the cops to actually do their job in a professional & courteous manner. But that’s not how cops were taught! Academy and then field training is based on coercion, threats, intimidation, violence, and ESCALATION. Everyone from 15 yrs of age on, should go take a course, pick up a copy, or even pay an attorney, to learn basic rights. It’s invaluable information.

  • @jimmy_kirk

    @jimmy_kirk

    8 ай бұрын

    "not as strong" LOL. They literally put a "notwithstanding clause" in our Charter. The only reason we even got the Charter was because they agreed to put the "we can suspend all your civil rights at any time" clause into the Charter. When it comes to civil rights violations in Canada, you don't specifically need an attorney. If you believe you have a civil rights violation case, you can bring it to the Canadian Human Rights tribunal, and if they feel that you have an actual civil rights case, they will represent you without cost. P.S. They're still "constitutional rights" in Canada (you don't have to refer to them as "charter rights"), as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was put forth as part of the Constitution Act of 1982

    Reform is too hard because it would mean we would actually have standards for becoming a cop, of which there is virtually none. I don't get we have not made it illegal for cops to not only have to have their bodycams, but needing to be on at all times. In addition to having to make all the footage publicly available (and if it ever "vanishes" the cops on the scene will automatically by default be treated as guilty the same way someone who doesn't show up to court loses by default) just like court records are publicly available. What happened here is obvious, they were scared of there being a gun, because the neighbor probably lied regarding how threatening the conversation with the dad was. Once they got to the house one of the cops started to react to his movements, once the situation was clear that the father was in fact not even close to be going after his gun. They realized they had fucked up this entire situation and instead of taking accountability, actually been apologetic and even going so far as to tell them what to do and where to give their complaint. Odds are the family wouldn't have done anything. But instead they quadrupled down, made things worse and let's be honest if there wasn't all this video evidence they would have made even more things up than they already did. Even if the family had complained about their initial reaction, at worst the family might have gotten paid some small sum considered as damages and the cops would have gotten a slap on the wrist for tackling the dad. They ended up doing the same thing dumb criminals do when caught in the act and still act innocents, except here it's worse because they behave as if they have legal and moral authority.
