When Comic Books Were Used to Advertise Medicine | From the Stacks

While today, we have viral video and social media ad campaigns, American medical companies in the late 19th century promoted their products with flashy, colorful comic books. I used to love Captain America vs the Asthma Monster - it was actually really good, and the monster was scary!

It's nice to see this interesting print material. They remind me of trade cards which advertising everything with a lot of comic illustrations. "Rough On Rats" had some funny ones.

Sometimes the ad is better than the product

The peptonoids did nothing? It sounds like Abbot Ensure, or Nestle Boost. Something to drink when it's hard to eat.
