I loved you in Heartland and in this series..you and all of your fellow actors were great..its the story line at the end which was so disappointing for so many of us. Hopefully the new season will bring new ideas and different story line for your character for us to once again have a reason to watch. The ending on this season wasn't and left many disappointed, myself included.

Even heart broken he's very honest when talking with Lucas and shows he's a very honest man. Like him a lot, too.

I was not happy about it at all

Couldn't even watch the final scene. Boo hiss.

I loved the scene when Nathan goes to the bar, and tells Lucas what happened between him, and Elizabeth. Telling him that he needs to stick around for Elizabeth. That was noble of him. 💜

Yes it was! Amazing he is the one who teaches Lucas how to stay and fight for love instead of running away like he always did in the past. E picked the wrong guy, IMO.

Yes, at first I thought he was going to be a jerk, but he was just the opposite.

The chemistry was between Nathan and Elizabeth not Lucas I just don't see chemistry between them.

I didn’t care for Elizabeth playing both men.

By putting her and Lucas together, they threw away the whole storyline they were hinting at with Nathan. All the arguing, the “Love is worth fighting for”, the running into his arms when he turned out to be alive...it was all pointing to her getting over her fear of loving a Mountie. She played it safe with Lucas. I’m still in shock, I can’t believe the writers took it in this direction. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to watch next season. Team Nathan forever 💕😭

It was a sloppy, disoriented ending with no regard for the viewers in my opinion. I realize if she chose Nathan, you would have Lucas shippers upset, but I feel they could have done the finale with more consideration for the viewers. They said it would be twists and turns, back and forth, but none of that happened. She could have made that speech to Nathan when he first told her he loved her and saved us a lot of grief. They called it a love triangle, but she never had a date with Nathan to give him a fighting chance. And what was that ridiculous almost date where she got "sick" at the steps of the cafe? I am really upset with Hallmark. I wish the writers had as much talent as the actors in WCTH.

Remember, they are doing that to maintain high ratings so viewers will keep watching. Then the ball drops, what's next? Expect another same repetition. Go get the viewers back and drop the ball again and pick up the ball and do something to regain your viewers even to the extent that it doesn't make sense at all.

To recoup the original storyline of a teacher and a mounty they could bring in a new teacher loved by all that is already credentialed to teach the blind. Her and Nathan could fall madly in love and their love story would be upfront and center. Elizabeth and Lucas would still be happy. Elizabeth could substitute teach occasionally and help pick Lucas up when his business ventures have problems. See…there IS a solution to make everybody happy again. The writers and producers need also to be more cognizant of following through with all the other story lines and not try to cram so many story lines into one episode so that it feels undone or brushed over…and quit pairing couples together for the sake of pairing for goodness sake. The writers and producers need to build trust back with their fans again because unfortunately for many fans that trust is no longer there. Most of the disappointed fans love the cast and appreciate all the hard work that goes with producing a show especially during a pandemic but they don't want to feel used for rating purposes. A good story provokes strong feelings but so does feeling duped.

So disappointed in this decision. It looked so fake.

I am very disappointed. worst season ever. Now they want to put Nathan with faith?? soap opera.

The problem that hallmark has now is that many Team Nathan fans believe Nathan is a far better person than either Elizabeth or Lucas. I’m one of them.

Oh really! Sorry writers/producers, to give you credit, maybe there was more impacting the show and casting behind the scenes but it doesn’t make sense. ....It seemed to me, and I’m sure many others from the last few seasons and the obvious and intense chemistry between Elizabeth and Nathan right up until episode 12, that the choice would be weird and not believable if it wasn’t Nathan.

It seemed to me that she was so drawn to Nathan but forcing herself to hold back due to her fear. Lucas was just a pleasant distraction from her deep feelings for Nathan.

I don't think so. Nathan represented a connection with Jack, but it made no sense to go that direction. Lucas is her intellectual equal. It made much more sense to go that way. Her confusion was logical because of her obsession with mounties due to Jack. Her chemistry with Nathan was fabricated in her own mind because he came to be her protector due to how Jack died. She did not need the possibility of another dead mountie.

@@deborahshanks2791 How exactly is Lucas her intellectual equal but Nathan isn't? You could say that they came from the same social class. But, Nathan seems pretty darn smart and clever to me. Also I haven't seen any obsession by Elizabeth for Mounties. Plus couldn't we have her grow to the point that she trusts his abilities to cleverly catch the bad guys without getting himself killed? Life is dangerous. Sure his job is risky, but he's well-trained, experienced, and clever. And he has back-up.

I hated that final last nite can't believe she choice lucas so disappointed why have a chemistry with nathan and then let it be lucas I hope her and lucas leaves and they bring a hot teacher for nathan and wee go bk to the rite story a mountie and a teacher and the kiss was passionate at all it was fake can't wait to c nathan get his lady and then you will c a real passionate kiss and true love not happy with last

I was very disappointed! That’s all I can say. The schoolteacher now looks like a floozy! Not the noble professions of the book! If the author is alive, I’m surprised she’d go that way. Even Lissing said the Mountie.😢😢💔

I am a little pissed honestly. What did Lucas have to go through to get the girl? What struggle did he endure this season. Seriously? Why does Nathan have to get kicked while he's down?

I feel like they did Jack's memory a disservice and that he would not approve of this choice. Why in the world would a single mother and school teacher court a saloon owner?! It makes zero sense with the story line. If she wasn't in love with Nathan, then why the prolonged agony?? What a painfully awful season.

Not nearly as satisfying as it could be been. Team Nathan didn't get any closure-- she was with Lucas the whole time! So the "I'll come back to you/wait for you" didn't have any satisfaction imo

It was a daft ending .In most countries Lucas would be called a stalker .Elizabeth has chosen to be involved with a man, who has never been really honest.Did he ever tell her what he said to Nathan,behind her back.Jack would would be horrified, thinking his son, would be raised by this man.The character of Elizabeth is just a flirt and I cannot see why she deserves happiness .Nathan is nothing like Jack,he is as lovely,but in a different way.Why was she so cruel to him.I am sorry true love means, there is no need to decide between two men,you know.It was actually an insult to Women.The character is supposed to be an intelligent woman.Did they talk to any actual Widows.You don't look for a dead husband in a new man. They were too special. It doesn't mean you can't love again,that is life.

So I watched the 12th episode, and when Lucas and Elizabeth kissed I was full of tears I was so sad. I just thought Nathan and Elizabeth would be together. I’m very not happy.😭😭😭😭😭😭

I'm so disappointed with the end of season 8. Elizabeth has never been on a date with Nathan it was always with Lucas and he never tells her that he loves her. I don't trust Lucas there is something about him and he is always watching her whenever she is talking to Nathan. Elizabeth chose Lucas because he has money and his mother published her book.

Lucas is pretending... I don't trust him. How can Liz a responsible school teacher be linked to a "Saloon owner".. I don't understand. I remember when his saloon use to disturb the whole hope valley... Honestly there is more chemistry between Nathan and Liz. I'm not watching again. Episode 11 was my best I'll take that as the ending of this show. Where at least Liz and Nathan shared something special.

AND this was NOT a breathtaking moment! seriously???...............

I didn't even feel like finishing the last half. I like Lucas don't get me wrong. But I'm not invested in him. His story isn't as captivating as Nathan's. And we didn't see nearly as much Elizabeth and Lucas as we did Elizabeth and Nathan. So i don't understand why they'd expect us to understand the ending or have satisfaction 🤷‍♀️ it wasn't satisfying. It was blindsighting. Disappointed.

I am really disappointed that Elizabeth chose Lucas over Nathan. My heart breaks for Nathan as he's never even gotten a chance to begin with. The season is most depressing, because here's me thinking that they would have been together. I couldn't be ask to watch season 9.

Lucas has no parental qualities. I think is wanting Elizabeth just to make him look good and feel important. He's no good for her!!

I totally agree with you. She promised N a date and never kept it. The writer(s) were all over the place in season 8. E was horrible, N was willing to give up his job for her, what exactly was L willing to give up??? NOTHING...HE WAS WILLING TO GIVE UP NOTHING.

This is a quote from the previous show runner, Alfonso Moreno: "I felt that the danger of having another Mountie, would be for me to bring another Mountie on the show and make that her only option. And for people to say, he's not Jack. But what I opted to do was to create two different choices and then make Nathan a strong enough option that people would be saying "Take him, go for him". I'd rather have the audience say that than than we as a writer impose that on an audience." That is exactly what happened and they didn't do it. They ruined the story he started.

That’s interesting. Never heard that quote. But that’s what I always thought about Lucas roll. His reason to be in the triangle was not to make it so obvious it’s ending up with another Mountie and that the audience would get the time to get know new character and see his potential and not connect him with Jack. But it is what it is. The new writers had other ideas and vision. And as audience we can decide if we want to keep follow and see where that leads or feel we had enough.

I'm done...!!! Fits the typical soapie narrative... What attracted me was the scenery and the teacher and the Mountie! Don't buy the con... Such a shame...

No longer I will watch that series. She chose the wrong man.

I just finished watching this movie please watch. “Love’s Enduring Promise. “ This movie was beautiful. Funny the young man in this movie is call Natan or Nate. When Calls The Heart ended with Elisabeth choosing Lucas just kill this show. Even in the end Natan showed humility, kindness, sincerity and compassion. He demonstrated his true personality of true love. I erase watching any further episodes. That the end for me.

It was awful and Kevin was treated poorly...definitely not wanting to watch anymore

Awful hated the ending. It made the show seem like a soap opera with the make out scene!

Team NATHAN FOREVER!!! I think Elizabeth made a big mistake! Never saw the chemistry between her and Lucas, and I don’t think they belong together either! She was afraid of her feelings for Nathan, and that the same could happen to him as it did to Jack! I truly hope one day she’ll wake up and see that Nathan is her true love! But I hope it won’t be too late by then! I don’t trust Lucas at all! Let’s wait and see....😢🤗

Kissing was over the top considering she had just taken off her ring in my opinion. She sure didn't take that slow. It looked rehersed and awkward to my point of view.

@@dianepante590 100% agreed. And you can tell in interviews too: Kevin McGarry is naturally animated and fun! Chris McNally seems to be truly annoyed just to be there and impatient with questions. Their actual personalities translate into the roles they play on screen.

Terribly sad for Nathan and Kevin...poor outcome for him and he told her how he had fallen in love with her...why do that? The whole season was playing with Nathan..

You’re internalizing a work of fiction. You’ll notice that the characters moved on quickly after making major decisions. No tears, no depression. It really isn’t that deep. Once the actors have a job during these difficult times and an exciting story to be a part of they’ll be happy,

I do not like Elizabeth pick. I do not think I will watch this show anymore I was so disappointed.

The most agonizing season! We've been had! I kept watching, even though the scenes were choppy and disoriented, just so I could finally see Elizabeth and Nathan together. And the writers didn't even give us that. WCTH is never going to be the same again, so I have no desire to torture myself by watching future seasons.

That's exactly why this Heartie will not watch WCTH again. I'm not a sore loser, but to be mislead like we were was not good. All of this talk about a "Love Triangle" and the only dating scenes were with Lucas was not fair and very misleading. I also gave up soap operas over 20 some years ago, and this to me seemed like a soap opera. I will not give any good credit to the writer of this season because it was choppy, leaving a lot of lose ends even with the other characters on the show. I'm done and It's sad to say that because I have watch WCTH since the very first day and never missed an episode. I do not like the person the writers have made Elizabeth to be in this season either. They wasted Kevin McGarry's huge acting talent. Kevin McGarry...that man is gifted. Manipulated viewers too. WCTH will be finished after season 9. Lackluster writing and using the audience should not be rewarded and it will not be rewarded in season 9.

Finally other people who are mad at the writers. I’ve been mad ever since Jack was killed (tried to keep watching just lost complete interest). Jack was ready to propose in the 2nd season yet it took 3 more seasons for Jack and Elizabeth to finally get married (Lee and Rosemary met and got married within that time for example so don’t tell me it couldn’t be done) And while Daniel Lissing had every right to leave the show, the writers/producers made it seem like our fault that we were upset we really didn’t get to see their married life.

"Nathan's going to be just fine." See I would've believed you if you said that about Lucas because you didn't make Lucas declare his love for you TWICE. Nathan was more in love with Elizabeth and understood Elizabeth better than Lucas ever could. Not to say Nathan can't move on but they better not make him "fine" season 9 episode 1 because that is the most unrealistic and incoherent writing. But after this finale...I wouldn't be surprised with unrealistic and incoherent writing

100% true what you write. Nathan has a perceptive understanding that eludes the narcissistic Lucas. And I would say also that Kevin McGarry is hands down a better actor by a long shot than Chris McNally. And I'm not alone in thinking that. The writers failed. And they'll pay for it. There will not be a season 10.

Lucas knew he had to wait for Elizabeth; he helped and promoted her writing, he helped with the library and took on a nice weekend/play, etc. He knows E. better than sourpuss Nathan who never smiles and never thinks of others, only his own feelings and desires. Lucas is more intelligent and sophisticated. I will take a suit over a red jacket any day and apparently so does Elisabeth!

@@maryhay7131 they both knew they had to wait for Elizabeth. That's why Nathan didn't ask her out for so long - he didn't want to pressure her. Nathan has said on different occasions to Elizabeth "let me know whenever you're ready" when he sensed her hesitancy. Nathan's had survivors guilt for 3 years. That's why Allie said he was more fun before Fort Clay. But once Elizabeth forgave him, you could see his playful side come out when he gave Elizabeth the flowers. Nathan and Elizabeth have had deeper conversations than her and Lucas. Lucas supports her writing sure but if they're not talking about writing they're probably talking about Nathan. Nathan and Elizabeth have talked about grief, loss, family matters, single parenting, Jack. Nathan knows Elizabeth's heart. Also Nathan is the most selfless characters. His whole profession is to serve the town. He took in his niece as a bachelor - that alone is one of the most selfless acts he could've done. He helped Clara find Jesse. He helped Fiona with Wyman Waldon. He helped Lee with the payroll. He helped Bill on numerous occassions. He helped put out the oil derrick fire. Nathan has interacted with everyone in town. I don't hate Lucas don't get me wrong and I think Lucas is selfless too. But don't discount Nathan

@@maryhay7131 Yeah, he was patient until he got what he wanted. Now he'll tire of her and look for the next conquest. It's in his nature to be a vagabond. Even his mother said that Lucas is a restless person who moves from place to place. Lucas is not father or husband material at the present time. The show will sink because the storylines are not compelling. This is not about my team not winning; it's about abysmal writing.

Elizabeth was a compelling character in season 6 and 7. I’m sorry, but the new writers turned her into a self absorbed hypocrite. She said “love has to be fought for”. It looked to me like Nathan was the only one who fought for love and he got crushed. I also think that the Lucas and Helen scenario was insane. Have you ever heard of a adult son that is so fragile he couldn’t be told his parents had separated.

1. She was fighting for love from early in the season. To open her heart to love again. Fighting for love does not mean fighting for someone who loves you but fighting for what you want in love or who you love too 2. Yes adults who believe their parents have an ideal loving marriage can be devastated if they hear they're separating. It's happening today. Not just for parents but for popular couples the world things were never going to break up after 20 years together

the writers here are doing the opposite of the great and timeless art of storytelling instead of the wonderful working through problembs and putting people over your own ambititons they have made peoples SELF-INTEREST the goal i mean if they were playing by the art of good story when carson found the ring he would have stayed in hope valley and realised that faith is worth more than he had appriciated before, but no this isn't hope valley anymore this is DRAMA VALLEY #boycotseason9

@@gilbertanne88 ahh but I'm not boycotting the show as much as the Agenda's behind the show, which have stolen its heart.

It feels like they changed their minds last minute when they filmed the finale, that's how much this doesn't make sense. Elizabeth trying to find Jack in Nathan? That was a cop out. That's not the story they've been telling for 3 years, and one episode isn't going to change my mind. Kevin's acting is amazing, but even his scenes felt totally out of character, that's how unbelievable this is. My only thought is that the writers thought Lucas would not have a strong enough storyline without Elizabeth, whereas Nathan can hold his own. I could go on and on about all the foreshadowing and clues, but there's no point, if the writers decide they don't matter at the last second, as well as the last two seasons. Their decision to kill off Jack made more sense than this, because at least they gave a good reason- Daniel wanted to leave. This feels like a haphazard decision, like they just flipped a coin and it landed on Lucas.

it was poor planning i think. the cast said that the directors kept changing their minds and that they hadn't decided on one or the other till in the middle of filming season 8 but that still doesn't explain why they would give us the hand holding scene with Nathan, and her forgiving him and then her letting him in her house and warming his jacket whilst playfully flirting with him

Especially after Nathan said he would quit the Mounties--Jack never even offered to do that. I would feel a whole lot better if it had gone back and forth like they had promised, but I never saw that. Back and forth would have been actually going on dates with Nathan and giving him a fighting chance. I wish the writers were as great as the cast.

That is exactly how I feel. I don't care what they say...it was being written to end one way, and then made an abrupt right turn--that's why it doesn't make sense and feels very inconsiderate of half the viewers.

This was unexpected in a bad way tbh.

Not all the hearties there are many Lucas and even Nathan fans who unlike you are mature and just want Elizabeth to be happy. It was a 50/50 split between fans. Elizabeth picking Lucas opens up for many more storylines for everyone. It was the right decision. Lucas is different and fresh. Not the same mountie and Elizabeth story that had been going on for 5 seasons. Season 9 will be amazing. Perfect ending and perfect choice

I totally agree there. Nathan's interactions with Little Jack always looked natural and comfortable. Lucas looks awkward around him and uncomfortable.

Very dissatisfied with the final episode. They should have replaced Jack without dividing the fan base. Now a large part of the base will go elsewhere because we can't stand to watch E & L together.

Lucas does not really love Liz ..its obvious.. I wonder how he would even take care of baby jack...Nathan loves Liz...you can even see it in his eyes.. The way he takes care of baby jack. Lucas looks like he is hiding something.. He does not look honest to me. Anyway I couldn't watch this episode and I don't think I'll be watching the next season...

I think Elizabeth had feelings for Nathan that were deeper than him being a mountie and reminding her of Jack. But whatever. The fact they made the decision for her to choose Lucas while filming is obvious. The season didn't have a proper storyline. They had all the deep talks. They had the loving looks. Then they took a total 180. Elizabeth and Lucas' relationship this season was superficial. They didn't have those deep pouring out your heart moments. I'm more upset at how they did it, not just that she chose Lucas. Of course I'm team Nathan, but had the season been written better, and she was having those deep talks with Lucas it would have made more sense. I would have been disappointed sure, but I wouldn't have been as upset.

I too am team Nathan all the way so I would have been grieved regardless if he wasn't chosen BUT I would have been much much less grieved over it all had they actually tried to invest the viewers in the Elizabeth and Lucas ship. They did not, so it feels so very unrealistic, like she's still choosing the safe road. Had she openly chosen Lucas within the first 3 episodes then build on E and L's relationship then I could buy it and would've been swayed over on their side but dragging it out until the very last episode and building it up for Nathan just to drop kick him yet AGAIN? Then ultimately choosing the less obvious suitor? Umm, sry, I just can't get on board with that. (I said it before and I'll say it again) Sooo, ROFG? Yes. Gasping at the outrageous, unrealistic and pointless storytelling of this season! Hope the ratings are worth it!

I think ratings would be much better had she picked Nathan. It seems like the majority of fans were in favor of Nathan. I think their viewership is about to plummet. Unless they can convince me through previews that it's worth watching season nine, I won't. And if it's like the writing from this season, I won't either.

Its no problem that she choose Lukas but that she had many magical moment with Nathan ( as she danced with Lukas she watched after Nathan, their chemistry when they dressed a Christmas tree, when he said she was inportant to him, when he gave her a blanket and speak with her about emotions, take her hands, when he said he loves her 💔 . When he asked what was in her heart. Everytime sparkled between them .... What about the photo Carson took of them at the wedding...and more more of situations. With Lukas is only dinner, picnic, candles and champagne. I really want to see that chemistry between Elizabeth and Lukas but still I dont see her. Lukas dod not wait for her decisions, he just wanted to escape. Nathan tell him about her decisions! Im dissapointed because Elizabeth returns to her old life in Hamilton...I fell betreyed and robbed of a happy ending 💔

A real man always fights for his beloved. No epic love story has ever captured the hearts and minds of readers/viewers without a struggle, without obstacles, without a reckoning of truth, without pain, without loss, without overcoming all that may be stacked against the good man, the hero. But Lucas is not a good man; he's a self absorbed man, self-serving opportunist, even in his interactions with Elizabeth - he likes the ego boost. Lucas did not fight for Elizabeth because his heart was not in it for her. She came to him when he was about to run out of town, again. What a narcissist. No respectable woman wants that kind of man. No woman. But then again, Elizbeth, as evidenced by her behavior in season 8, is no respectable woman. She deserves the fool that would have her. She settled for second best and she absolutely deserved it.

I’m out.

Not happy with ending. It took 3 seasons to build the characters of Jack and Elizabeth. They tried to build relations with two men too fast. I don’t see connection between either character. I would have been happier with Elizabeth staying single and just being friends with Nathan and Lucas.

A satisfactory ending would have been that Elizabeth chose neither one. I don't think she gave Nathan a chance because every time he wanted to have dinner or go somewhere she always had an excuse that she couldn't go. But if it was Nathan she was ready to go on a picnic and whatever else he wanted her to do. I liked Elizabeth but right now I don't have good feelings towards her because I think that she made the wrong choice. If she had chosen Nathan because he was a mountie and was like Jack that would have been so much better than choosing Lucas the saloonkeeper.

They never gave a Nathan a chance. One of the actors responded to the people who were not going watch next season "He said we will miss you but we are looking toward a great Season 9" All I can say is good luck to the writers not so much the actors because they were just doing their part.

Her explanation to Nathan was about as lame excuse I have ever heard. She told Nathan she was trying to see Jack in him. I think she was looking at the uniform and not the kind and noble caring individual that was in the uniform. Nathan had alot of the qualities that Jack had. She couldn't see pass the uniform. Lucas has none of those qualities. Yes she followed her heart to what she used to be a Society Lady who wants to be wined and dined. The final scene speaks to what I am saying candlelight, Champagne, and a sparkling evening gown. So very much out of place for the Elizabeth on the frontier but not for the Elizabeth who came from wealth. These are just my thoughts. Bad writing on the writer's end.

I have loved this series, I’ve watched it faithfully from the very beginning. I was heartbroken when Jack left, but I stayed with it because I loved the characters, the friendships, the stories, and sweet lessons of faith. I’m also an avid book reader, and when I finish a book I’ve poured so much time and energy into just for it to all come to crap at the end, I usually chuck it against a wall lol! It’s very hard for me to accept the direction the writers have chosen... not because I don’t like Lucas, but because it doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t play well with the session, and it just seems forced. Elizabeth, is comfortable and attracted to Lucas sure, but there’s never been love in her eyes for him like with Nathan. Lucas has made many grand gestures, and truly gone out of his way to please Elizabeth, so I’m happy that it’s payed off for him. Still it just doesn’t feel satisfying for those of us looking to see depth, connection, and a “convincing” love. I will try and continue to follow this show but I’m less committed to it now. Elizabeth is definitely one of my favorite characters so I’m really torn. Another tough blow for me. Couldn’t watch the whole season 8 finale.

I don't understand why Kevin Mcgarry portraits rejected guys. He is too handsome for that.

Because hes a true actor. Actors read the words that writers write for them. He doesn't have a say in the matter. But he'll be around for many seasons to come because they'll write him a nice storyline. The same happens with other TTV shows like Gray's anatomy when they kill off a favorite character you don't see the grays anatomy fans wishing the show to fail because they didn't get their way! So melodramatic of all of you. Just stay away and let the rest of us enjoy Season 9

I'm really surprised that everyone didnt know till so late into filming the season. It shows. The season didn't have a cohesive story.

They pretended to give us “clues” when they had no idea which way they were going. It was just for suspense and views. No wonder nothing made sense. They thought we were stupid and would be placated with that weak excuse of a resolution.

You nailed it. This show was all over the map this season. It also seemed like they left so many storylines half completed, if that. If you don’t decide who she is going to chose before the season starts then everything early in the season really is a red herring. I believe it was a result of the creators arrogance that they thought they could pull it off. It’s quite insulting to the viewer.

Next season, the writers need to focus on Nathan and a love interest for him! And also focus on Bill, Faith, and others. I want to stop seeing Elizabeth and Lucas! Lucas doesn’t grow on me! And Elizabeth was leading Nathan on too long! It took too long for her to decide!

Disappointing and disgusting ending.

My wife is the one who faithfully watched when calls the heart… And sometimes I watched it with her. After the last episode she is DONE with watching it. She thinks the writers messed up royally and the way they finally did this. I was glad, after what she said, that I didn’t waste my time watching the last one.

I was afraid of this ending! No offense to the actors but I feel strung along and betrayed at the very end. I thought this story was about following your heart, not denying it for safety. Nathan and Elizabeth had so much chemistry that was never properly unpacked. Lucas and Elizabeth have a great literary connection and have enjoyed a more privileged kind of upbringing, but it feels pretty hollow otherwise. It’s very sad especially after Jack and compared to the passion that Nathan’s character offered. I’m happy for the Lucas fans, but I’m sorely disappointed with this season. Elizabeth, has always been the symbol of the show’s basic message... When all is in question, above all else follow your heart. I feel this choice is a misalignment from the theme of the show. It’s difficult to make sense of some of the big moments of this season because they all seem to lead to different decision. It is what it is though.

Very well said. I am extremely disappointed in the outcome too, but thought it could be leaning that direction when they showed the trailer of the book and her taking off her ring at that time. The literary connection and similar upbringing seemed all the Elizabeth and Lucas had going for them. The passion and chemistry of Nathan and Elizabeth was stronger even though not allowed to be properly unpacked. It was more believable and had more depth. In my opinion, it came across as Elizabeth's book deal was the reason for her not finishing the dinner date with Nathan, Elizabeth, Allie and Little Jack and the reason she chose Lucas in the end...finally taking off the ring seeing her finished manuscript. Seemly a superficial reason and going against the message they seemed to be going for this season. It also made no sense to me of her comment to Nathan that she was seeing Jack in him. Pretty lame. A lot of the time they interacted he was not in his serge. The were two separate men who had different but wonderful attributes. To me the only things similar were the values both men had...honorable and noble. Nathan's love to me in many respects ran just as deep or deeper. He was willing to give up the life if a mountie for Elizabeth. Jack was not willing to do that. It's still pretty unbelievable the route they chose to write the storyline. It will be hard to watch Elizabeth and Lucas relationship grow in the next season. Not sure if I can do it. I am afraid we will see less of Nathan's scenes. Kevin McGarry plays Nathan so well. I like the other actors, but he was well deserving of the lead.

I will never watch again we deservedly needed to see Nathan win the woman he loves. It's too awkward now not The Elizabeth that was created. This is high society Elizabeth.

I am finished too. They get rid of Jack and Abrial. If you know anything about saloons, they were gentlemen's clubs, gambling, and prostitution. The real Elizbeth wouldn´t have Lucas raising Jack´s. You marry someone like Jack. The real Elizabeth would have married up not down

Disappointed! Should have chosen Nathan. No disrespect to Lucas but a school teacher and saloon owner isn't right.

I did not even watch the episode last night because I knew she would pick Lucas and I was Team Nathan. Probably will not watch it again.

Yes. I believe Elizabeth's character was not anything close to a Janette Oke character and I won't be watching anymore. This series doesn't even resemble the original Janette Oke series anymore. Its been hollywoodized.

I called it. I knew she would pick Lucas and I couldn't be happier. He was the only one that dated her. It was obvious to me that she was looking for Jack in Nathan.

Big mistake. Hope Nathan gets a love interest that puts Elizabeth in the shade. This show has gone way down in my estimation.

There all characters in this TV show that is fictional. Elizabeth is a lead character the story will always revolve around her. But these 2 leading men who are characters Nathan and Lucas will each have different new storylines for season 9. Nathan will be just fine and unsure will find true love again

Not happy about this decision. I think Lucas has too many secrets and backstories. I think Nathan would have brought her a more loving and secure life with Little Jack.

They did not play the fans. They wrote the story the way they felt the characters could best explain it in season 8 to be able to move on to season 9. While they respect us as viewers, it is not who they write to. They write for the characters and the series itself.

Nice way to finally "END" this series...uummm, errrrr, I mean season!!! It should have been NATHAN!!!!!!!!!! I thought they were going to play it out like Elizabeth was dreaming of her book characters and then in the "real world" of When Calls the Heart her true love would be Nathan, but nope. It was just a very lame ending!!!!! Way to blow it Hallmark!!! I also thought it was supposed to be a 2 hour season finale, but that would have just been an extra hour of agony!!!!

With all of the mistreatment of Nathan by Elizabeth , one of the ugliest things she said was " I was MORTIFIED " after picking Nathan's hands and then she laughed with the Gambler ! As if Nathan was the plague or something worse ! Here she falls like a puppy love child over a gambler saloon owner that is wealthy and has severe insecurity and jealousy issues ! They thought that changing the theme and adding SHOCK effects would win over the audience but immediately after the finale ended , the disappointed viewers went to social media platforms and raged frustrations over that horrible out come ! With at least 5 different polls taken and the same results where with an overwhelming 70% of the fans voiced their anger , that will eventually resonate in the ratings in the near future ! How does anyone try to fix something that doesn't need fixing ? A school teacher and a Gambler is too unbelievable in any aspect of reality , especially in 1910 ! Many viewers have said that they will not be watching anymore ! I'm one of them ! Team Nathan were dealt a bad deck of cards and a Gambler won !

I have to say that Nathan took the news better than I did. I don't have anything against Lucas, but I just realized I wanted-- I NEEDED-- a romantic scene with Nathan, and I feel robbed. I hope I am done crying by the time season 9 starts.

They're just paid to act. The fact that you said you *needed* it to be Nathan says you're projecting your own loneliness on a TV show. I hope you have a fun, romance-filled summer sweetie! I totally understand they are actors and everything, but team Nathan never felt that Nathan and Elizabeth were ever given a chance. There really was not back and forth as was talked about. I am disappointed it took 3 seasons to get here. No one is projecting loneliness, just disappointment.

Sherry, I think hallmark has put themselves in a box. They played the triangle game for ratings way too long and assured themselves losing many viewers no matter which way they went. They should have, at the very least, given themselves a little time at the end of the season to try to mend some fences with Team Nathan. Their next shot won’t be until Christmas and that will give the wounds a lot of time to fester. Not very well thought out on their part in my opinion.

My aunt lost a bet with me. 😂😂😂 She’s team Nathan and my dad and I are team Lucas. My yorkie was on my lap Sunday night watching it with me, and I got so excited when she chose Lucas. I’m in heart and lung failure, and I guess she thought something was wrong because she started checking on me and barking at my dad like something’s wrong. 😂😂😂

You never gave Nathan a chance. He's been criticized from the day he entered into town. He will find someone who will give him more than what he received with you.

I didn't like the ending sorry its turning away from the main show idea but I think they waited to long for us to see who was chosen

I agree. Lucas is sneaky. Hiding something. Too late for Elizabeth to change her mind. I won’t watch anymore because they misled viewers to think she would chose Nathan. If she had chosen Lucas earlier in the season, I would have been ok with it. I don’t like being deceived..

Worse season ever and dragged out for no reason. What is Erin krakow talking about the storyline was all over place. The kiss was forced no chemistry like Jack.
