When Calls the Heart Season 9 Cast INTERVIEWS (Exclusive)

The cast of 'When Calls the Heart' opens up to ET's Deidre Behar about love, careers and life in Hope Valley ahead of the season 9 premiere, airing March 6 at 8 p.m ET/PT on Hallmark Channel. Erin Krakow and Chris McNally explain how Elizabeth Thornton and Lucas Bouchard's romance is moving forward while learning more about each other and their styles of communication. The actors tease if their characters will say 'I love you' to one another and explain how Elizabeth's son, Jack, is bonding with Lucas. Kevin McGarry tells ET how his character, Mountie Nathan Grant, is picking up the pieces after experiencing heartbreak with Elizabeth. While Nathan is still hurt, McGarry assures ET that he's on pleasant terms with the schoolteacher because he's accepted that her happiness is with Lucas. Meanwhile, Nathan is focusing on his relationship with his daughter, Allie, and figuring out how to raise her as a single dad. McGarry also teases Nathan moving on and finding love with someone else in Hope Valley. Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton get real about Rosemary and Lee Coulter's journey to parenthood. Without giving the end result away, the actors assure ET that viewers will have answers about their future as parents by the end of season 9. Viv Leacock gives an update on Joseph Canfield and his family: Minnie Canfield, Cooper Canfield and Angela Canfield. Leacock says that Cooper, played by his real-life son, Elias Leacock, is acting out this season and going through a rebellious phrase. As for Angela, she's maturing and seeking more independence, which proves to be difficult territory for her parents to balance. Andrea Brooks, who plays Dr. Faith Carter, is dealing with the aftermath of her split from Dr. Carson Shepherd in season 8, after he decided to pursue an opportunity far from home. Faith juggles the pressure of running the infirmary, all while trying to figure out life without Carson by her side at work and home.

I cannot wait until Sunday!! I am rewatching the entire series on Hallmark movies now and rediscovering this beautiful series! The storylines are wonderful and the cast is so talented!!
I can't wait to watch season 9!! When calls the heart is one of my favorite shows and I hope to see everyone is in a good healthy mindset and maybe see some new romances flare up

Kevin McGarry has a lot of charisma! I do enjoy his character… hoping he gets a good storyline this season!
You’ve created a beautiful series! I really am enjoying the episodes that I’m able to watch on the “W” Hallmark channel. Erin, you & every one on the set is really really tasteful, classy everything that I truly appreciate it quite a bit! I’d so much like to see the whole series from the start all the way to the end, if that’s the correct word to use. I love When calls the Heart, watched it on Netflix, now it's no longer on Netflix not seen any of the last few seasons, unless I pay to watch them , I'm so disappointed

The relationships are fun to watch but I really interested in seeing how the town deals with the foundry and what part Pinkerton plays. I also think Lee and rosemary will adopt.

Looking forward to Lucas and Little Jack dynamic - I love Chris says it’s also fulfilling with Little Jack when asked if he is thinking of own future baby with Elizabeth. He wants to honour that, and has the desire and responsibility. The whole sentence was on point. And the Lucas and Elizabeth relationship growing and deepening. ❤️

There was a absolutely No flip. She only dated Lucas and that smile she had /has for only him was so special. They talk together and share and tease a bit, but the Mounty would not talk and kept secret from her. CM and EK have the very best chemistry. They are perfect together.

I stoped watching the show because y’all drag everything out to much. And how long are you going to carry that kid a round It’s been three years……
Chris McNally is not into it at all -- it's obvious that he's trying to sell the excitement he's likely been told to have, but it falls flat. So painfully flat. Lucas and Elizabeth like each other? Well no kidding Sherlock…They had three years for that, if that was the direction all along (and it was not...it was flipped in season eight and at the very end for Lucas and Elizabeth ). McNally seems like he's forcing himself to show enthusiasm here. The truth is that Kevin McGarry had and has naturally flowing chemistry with any woman he plays opposite of and is the man to watch. Kevin McGarry absolutely carries the show. It is not McNally. It used to be Elizabeth/Erin, but no more. Even when McGarry is given a stupid script to play, he slays it. If McGarry leaves the show, the show is done. McNally cannot carry it. Neither can Krakow. Having said that, WCTH does not deserve a season beyond season 9 because the stories are now forced, rushed and not compelling. A good story, a well written story sells itself; it does not need to be force fed down people's throats. It’s unfortunate because it did not have to be this way, but when the writers/execs did what they did in season 8 (play fast and loose with the truth, defraud viewers by toying with them, with Tinker folding like a cheap deck of cards) this is the result. Tinker is also a mediocre writer. What an absolute farce. WCTH used to be great…with Alfonzo Moreno writing, but season eight under Tinker’s writing leadership was the beginning of the end for WCTH.
