Ron Banner They had 25k Star Destroyers, so meh. One or two is nothing in the grand scheme of things. In fact instead of a Death Star they could‘ve made either 6 000 Star Destroyers or 1 000 Super Star Destroyers (That big ship Admiral Piett was in command of and crashed into the Death Star II during the Battle of Endor.)

I remember in a lego movie Vader and Luke chased each other, they stopped after the 2 vehicles were inconvenient for each other. The vehicles? (Before swapping) Luke?: Anakin’s pod racer Vader?: Luke’s land speeder. Vader’s cape was sucked into the intake, but I forgot what Luke’s did.

This reminds me of being a kid in the '80s and seeing someone else beat my high score on an arcade game.

do not underestimate the power of memes, and sand.

Darth Vader : "I'm the TRUE master of the Pod race." Podrick : "Depend of the Pod race."

No one: Anakin: _I am speed_

Vader to the Galaxy: "I have truly lost everything...What else is there to take? What's next? Will you take saying 'Wizard' away from me as well?!" But in all seriousness, imagine had Vader NOT interfered and simply turned to leave the race behind, only to hear that the human finishing first was named "Skywalker." He'd probably turn back and have a sudden realization...followed by a quiet and personal "that's my boy," moment.

I thought Podracing had died out for the most part by the formation of the Empire.

@@wiibrockster actually now that I think about it, if you look to the Romans (for comparison's sake), there was that one emperor who would try to distract his subjects from his own tyranny via the collusseum (the movie Gladiator even made a reference to this at one point with "30 days of games"). There could very well be a mindset of "they're easier to control if entertained every so often". Edit: f&#$ing autocorrect

Maybe he would let Luke win Maybe he would be even more sure to make Luke die One thing I think can be predicted, it would force a moment of choice and memories as intense as Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith much faster. I'm not sure if Vader was so deep in the Dark Side on the Death Star that he felt almost nothing when he killed Obi-Wan. Maybe. Could he kill Luke the same way? I think it's hard to predict. But it would be one of the Top 5 or 6 most important days of Darth Vader's life. It would be one of Those days.

I love how Luke unwittingly flexed on Vader twice: Once by overshadowing him in podracing, and once by casually rejecting and breaking the lightsaber Vader was looking for and was being influenced by.

A random human: Takes part in a podrace Darth Vader: If no one will remember me for winning, no one will remember this guy Luke: Should i tell my father that i almost won a podrace but lost?

Had Vader waited until the end of the race, I would pay MONEY to see his reaction to the announcer revealing that "Skywalker" had won the race.

This shows the childish, arrogant side of him Vader

I find his lack of spinning disturbing. He underestimated how good a trick that is

Imagine anakins force ghost looking back on this and saying.. That's my boy.

The only issue I have with this is that Vader himself wanted Annakin Skywalker to disappear. "That name no longer has any meaning to ne" He wanted nothing to do with that life. In fact he had very visceral and direct reactions to being connected with anything to do with Anakin. That being said, why would he care?

If only vader hasn't being petty, the skywalker name will still be remembered in pod racing. The light saber fueling his rage must have had a lot of influence in his actions

I’d love to see anakin and Luke having a conversation about pod racing in the after life, only to have Luke flip out after finding that anakin blew up Luke’s chance to win a race. Luke: “What the hell dad!!?” Anakin: seemed legit.

Fascinating. Not only to we have a possible explanation for Kylo's unusual anger problems, but we get to see a jealous side of Vader. And rightfully so! If no one remembered me winning a race, especially one so groundbreaking, I'd be just as pissed!

Dam, that’s just... petty.

I think it would have been an amazing, pivotal moment if they would have called out his name during the race.. For Darth Vader to realize . I imagine his reaction would have been MUCH different.

I enjoy the fact that the sabers were destroyed each by father and son...a fitting end for them.
