Vader has to leave his suit when it needs repairs! And he chills in his tank! So why didn’t Vader switch suites ? This is something I just don’t understand! I have heard the position that Vader needed to be kept alive by The emperor. But he seems perfectly fine in his bacta tank! And when they put his suit back on why didn’t they upgrade?

Guess the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Centre had budgetary constraints in canon too.

When you think about it, anything in the Empire that wasn't a massive superweapon or an ISS was basically meant to be cheap more than anything (case in point: standard TIE fighters). Heck, some material these days (Jedi Fallen Order and The Mandalorian) have Stormtroopers blame their infamously qpoor accuracy on factors ranging from their rations to the actual weapons themselves.

While this is another great issue and I think this series has been amazing so far, I've noticed one quite important error. I personally think the droids calling Vader's suit an out of date piece of junk, is an error on Greg Pak's part. While it is true in Legends that the Emperor made Vader's suit as cumbersome and as badly designed as possible, to punish him for his failure on Mustafar. In the Disney Canon, its been demonstrated multiple times how resilient Vader's suit is. For example in Charles Soule's run, the suit is capable of withstanding crushing oceanic pressure in the Burning Seas arc and complete submergence in lava in the Fortress Vader arc. In Kieron Gillen's run, in the End of Games arc its shown to be able to keep him alive in the vacuum of space and Palpatine tells Vader that it was a combined effort of the Empire's greatest minds that went into designing the suit and given how pleased the Emperor is with Vader in that scene its unlikely he's lying. We can also discount the idea that the suit was designed poorly by the Emperor in Canon, because its established early on again in Charles Soule's run that Palpatine gives Vader permission to modify the suit as he sees fit and from some of his other appearances its clear that Vader is constantly improving the suit. This best demonstrated in the End of Games arc, where Doctor Cylo switches off Vader's suit, the next time another being tries that in this case the Rur Crystal tries to take control of the suit in the Doctor Aphra The Enormous Profit arc. It doesn't work and Vader explicitly states that the Eternal Rur is not the first to attempt that course of action and he has improved his suits safe guards to prevent it. I guess a way of explaining it is the Droids were expecting Vader's suit to be cutting edge and by that I mean the highest levels of the Tarkin Initiative when in actuality its just a very well designed life support and survival suit and as droids that is useless to them, but unfortunately its still a bit of a stretch. If anyone has read all this, thank you very much and have a nice day and if you have any replies or counter arguments I would love to hear them.

Well, at this point half of his armor consists of some junk spare parts and maybe the armor itself isn't that great, Vader is just a bit more OP than he was in legends since disabling the suit would no longer stop him.

@@alengeek27 I agree, that is one way of looking at it. Given the punishment the Emperor dishes out to Vader at the start of this arc using force lightning, which as shown in Return of the Jedi the suit cannot withstand. And therefore the suit is not in its usual state in this arc as a result of this and all the repairs Vader has to perform on it to keep himself alive. I think it could be argued that for all the suit is capable of withstanding in Canon, its ultimately just a very well designed life support suit. And given the way the Droid Crush Pirates talk about the technical value of the suit to Ochi, its possible they were under the impression that the suit was a technological marvel and the sole reason Vader is so powerful. Which as we know is a common misconception about Vader by people in the Star Wars universe, no one knows there is even a man under the suit and given the way the Empire has suppressed all knowledge of the Jedi its unlikely most would believe that Vader would be in any way related to them. So therefore nearly all are likely under the impression that its the suit that makes Vader the Empires greatest enforcer and first terror weapon but aside from the enhanced strength it gives him and its resilience to extreme external environments while impressive, by comparison to other examples of technology in Star Wars like the Death Star or Cortosis armour is fairly minor.

They only had different personalities but they both wanted to destroy Palpatine and both cared about Luke . I believe Anakin was always there under the surface and that Vader was nothing but a mask to deal with what he had done

@@MadeForNothing. Agreed. Luke was totally unprepared for fighting a Sith Lord. Darth Vader doesn’t count, because he had no intention of killing his son. I don’t know how Yoda and Obi-Wan could even allow Luke to attempt it without teaching him how to deflect/resist force lightning. But seriously. Luke had no plan. He surrendered to Vader because he felt he was putting Han, Leia, Chewie, and the Rebel Alliance in danger by staying. But Luke couldn’t turn Vader, and Vader couldn’t turn Luke. The two of them faced the Emperor with no plan.Vader DID surprise us back in 1983 when he grabbed Palpatine and saved Luke. Of course, we do know, now, why Vader said “I must obey my master”. If Palpatine could destroy Vader without breaking a sweat, again, what chance did Luke have? I hope the 2020 comic explains or retcons this plot hole for us.

I seem to recall in the comics that Vader was offered a suit and life support system but the operation was so risky that there was a bigger possibility that he would die so he declined it and said that his old suit gave him more power anyway and that to change it would severely weaken him… so in retrospect he was so frustrated with it it made him stronger so he just kept it..

@@bro-be3bd Eh The prequels themselves had massive breathing room after backlash it received, it merch still sold well even after that and overall, clone wars helped flush characters from prequels films why giving us fan favorite like ashoka and rex. Not mention their was a bug enough time gap between the film which allowed this to happen.( overall the problems with prequels is it was executed poorly) The sequels has to somehow convince people to like new characters like rose tico, finn who wasnt handle properly, rey who pretty much took the Skywalker name which a lot people didnt like, cope with fact that pretty much og cast action ot was for nothing, it bunch plot holes which even books really can't fix, etc. Not mention were getting several shows during this time which new generation is going to be focused on. ( their also no room to expand on rey at all due time frame for sequels) Maybe kids who grew up with rey or character for sequels will love them more over the old ones ( which i just don't see as ot characters are still way more loved than prequels even with its comback) seeing characters are really bland, but doubt of fanbase is going to change their tune anytime soon.

This would be so much cooler as a tv series, and most of the announced tv series' would fit better as comics imo

@@chrissonofpear1384 After liea had Kylo Ren, she pretty much settled down, knowing her path would be continued by some one else(Rey, as said in the TROS.) While Luke was still a very much active jedi master. Thats why he was searching the galexy for exegol, to end palpatine forever. And if luke told lies what he and lando were searching for, she probably wouldn't allow for he brothers well being. Anikan probably wanted luke to finish what he started. Luke was the reason he threw palpatine, and he wanted his son to finish the job. To "balance out the force, like I once did"
