Does anyone else notice that when Vader fights , he fights with one hand similar to Dooku and he only uses both hands if he’s losing a fight .

Vader utilized his power and reach in unison to keep the preferred distance between him and his opponent for ensured control. The Sith use The Force amid saber combat as well, which also tends to work better when one's opponent is several paces away. Should your target gain too much distance from you, a simple Force Pull negates and chips away at their resolve. When one sees and feels the futility in their efforts to obtain any advantage against you, the greatest weapon is then at your full command...their fear.

Yea, vader wen from being the golden child of the sith, to the gum on the bottom of lord palps shoes, all in the blink of an eye. Palpatine could never get over his frustration with anakins loss to obi.

I think one of the contributing factors to why Vader lost on Mustafar was bcuz of the fact that he still fights like a Jedi and not as a real true Sith despite breaking away form the Jedi Order and being bestowed the title of “Darth” bottom line is despite all his power he wasn’t as trained in the dark side as he had been as a Jedi Knight, Vader was powerful but i think besides his own arrogance as to why he lost was bcuz Kenobi was too familiar with his skills in fighting style and knew Anakin all too well yet was inexperienced as a new Sith Lord and lacked the potential knowledge and wisdom he could have had before until after his injuries

I always find it funny whenever someone suggests that a sith fight with honor. Like, dude, their whole thing is to be unfair backstabbers, why in all the galaxy would they ever play fair? Or the sith that calls Malgus a traitor. Duh, he’s an evil dude, did you forget what side you’re on?

Palpatine, though powerful, was ultimately a coward. Why else would he restrain Anakin and make his suit with design flaws if Palpatine was so certain Darth could not stand against him? Sometimes it seems that cowardice is a very powerful Sith strength.

I like Palpatine’s Sith combat teaching style because he shows you better then he tells you when in practise & I respect that a lot 🔥.

This guy is the king of stretching 3min of actual content into 15min of repetition and inferring

Something I appreciate that the old and even current Star Wars does with Vader and Palpatine, Palpatine will say or do something to Vader and then sometime later Vader will repeat this to one of his opponents. The barrage as said here and in the first and second force unleashed games Palps call Vader Broken and in the second Vader calls the Star Killer clone broken using the same lines.

Walk before you can run. 😅 At this point Darth Vader was still an - infant Sith Lord - so to speak.

when dueling with my friends, i employ form 2 makashi, with flavors of djem so and vaapad mixed in. i am undefeated.

Imagine if Vader focused on his force abilities more than his combat skills 😭

Darth Sidious was very insightful with how the Sith have truly move beyond the need of the Lightsabers and this should have been the case as well with Vader as he was the most powerful force user in the history of the Galaxy and he would have been unstoppable if he directed his training to just his force abilities.

He pretty much did just that in the Obi-Wan series against Reva. He NEVER drew his saber, and when he felt like dueling, HE TOOK ONE OF HERS! Epic!

For the record, I don't hate EVERYTHING Disney Canon has done to Star Wars. I like a lot of the small moments, like this interaction with Sidious or the addition of the inhibitor chips in the Clone Troopers. The stuff I hate is the big changes, like what they did with Luke in the Sequel Trilogy, and the inconsistency in the story Disney is trying to tell with their Canon extended media, which is imo worse than the majority of Legends stroy telling

Yeah, most important for Sith is victory, they are ultimate combat pragmatists, unless rage clouds their judgement. Palpatine sneers like a maniac when fighting, but in truth he's a very calculating fighter, eager to create new opportunities and exploit them for maximum shock and awe to overwhelm his enemies. It seems he tries to teach Vader how to think outside the box, instead of relying on just one method of fighting and then making questionable decisions like jumping on High Ground Kenobi. He also established a clear hierarchy: Vader lives only because he's useful and Palpatine was nice, he could be smoked at any time.

He could throw lava at Kenobi, jump somewhere else, sail to a safer spot or at worst just call it quits to fight another day. Sometimes discretion is a better part of valor, especially if you are facing a High Ground Kenobi.

No, Vader's own interests are what stopped him from fully and truly embracing the Dark Side... The only part Sidious played in Vader's failure to embrace the Darkness is by not telling/explaining/showing Vader EXACTLY WHY he needs to embrace it fully... If he did that, especially since there are some forms of force necromancy the sith used, then Vader would have fully delved into and embraced the Dark Side because it would have given him the means to resurrect Padmé... That obsession is what stopped Vader from doing what Sidious wanted him too... All Darth Vaderkin Skywalker wanted when embracing and unleashing his inner Dark Side was a way to bring his wife back from the dead... Like literally do your own research and check up on the studies Vader did in all the sith texts/holocrons as well as visiting old Sith temples... Anakain beat drallig with the force, not his lightsaber. This is according to the RotS game, which is canon.

Palpatine as far as Im aware has never dueled Vader when his mastered the lightsaber form he created. If Palpatine fought Vader as he was in the height of his ability to Duel, itd have been a VERY different story.

Palpatine is still faster than Vader and a better Force user, so that's where issues really begin. Lightning is often quoted as a big danger to Vader, but it should be only an issue if he tries to tank it with his face, he could absorb it with a lightsaber. It's not foolproof method though, Palpatine could blast Yoda's lightsaber from his hand by using a quick bolt of lightning.

I think vader may have actually learned better under a sith academy, rather rhan be of rhe rule of 2 era. Take darth scarborus for instance, incredibly skilled with a blade as well as sorcery and ancient rituals. He encouraged dueling and culling of the weak students. Darth vader coukd have become a truly dangerous warrior under those conditions

His dueling more so than his lightsaber form Has no issue with his movements Also, as much as he's right, one Vader initiated the duel and two knows he's weaker than sidious and would lose that force battle

Vader was the chosen one, but he was not stronger than his master. Sidious built in a weakness to sith lightning to his armor. He needed Luke to overthrow him, because Luke had the same potential Vader did BEFORE his body was so badly damaged. With training (in secret) Vader could have taught Luke how to kill Sidious. Palpatine had the same knowledge, and wanted a more powerful replacement for Vader.

This is why I laugh at Anakin fanboys who think Vader ever stood a chance against Sidious. People talk about the suit's weakness to electricity, but Sidious can beat Vader very easily without even having to use Force Lightning. Or even a lightsaber.

Buddy this took place pretty soon after Vader just got his suit. Vader got dramatically stronger in the many years afterwards, and did completely eclipse and surpass Sidious in skill with a lightsaber. Get some basic critical thinking skills then comment.

Palpatine was right break Vader out his Jedi view for in a way Jedi need to more willing to using the Force in battle maybe not to same excant as the Sith but they need it to help survive, though he was very wrong to be so dimissive of the lightsaber and only use as a tool of insulting his enemy. The Sith always need a lightsaber either to fight a powerful Jedi, would be Sith or something ELSE.

The Jedi should always use their weapon to protect themselves and others but they need to limited and just let members choose which best though be very good with a single blade for they in a way forgotten, in other ways the Sith too, that its was not the weapon truily matters its the wielder that it is important.

He just wanted Vader to become a more sophisticated fighter than just charging at people and try to hack them into pieces. This tunnel vision led to all his limbs getting chopped off instead. For someone with such a Force potential, you would expect more from Anakin as a Force user.
