This was truly funny, the uncomfortable situation for the young man reminded me of myself at that age worrying about examinations and how my body might react. As an adult having my first prostate exam was equally frightening, I heard how painful it was and braced myself for it. The most awkward male exam I ever had was by a young, snickering, inexperienced, female doctor and her younger, snickering, more inexperienced, assistant that decided the best way to approach the situation was to kneel down in front of me and reach up under the hospital gown and grope around. From other exams, by both male and female doctors, she misted the objective completely as none of the usual, suspect, areas, were inspected, having had a lump in the past. I decided then I would reserve the right for who would examined me, whether it looked prejudice or not.

If it's a random doctor that you don't feel confident about it's OK to ask for a different one or refuse the exam especially if there's no physical need for it. If someone snickered at me and I hadn't made a joke I would've have given them the death stare and told them to get out. After the exam I would have asked to speak to their supervisor and laid it on the line.

This is a very important issue which is still not propagated enough. My men, touch yourselves and check for any swelling down in the scrotum and if you feel anything out of the ordinary, get a checkup. Self exams ARE important for women of any age and for younger guys (once you're in your 40's and up testicular cancer is extremely rare as its a young man's disease). Once you're over 40ish then prostate cancer is the big worry. But more important is that women should get regular mammograms and young men should have their testicles examined by their doctor yearly as part of their physical. If over 40ish, guys should have their prostate examined yearly.

I've been a nurse for many years & this is the funniest thing ever. The teen has such an expressive face too. "Bloody tests never get a straight answer out of you its always the way isn't it?" 😂🤣😁I love it! Its the same here in the States! But what I am REALLY jealous about is when he is booking the test and the doctor says they can book the ultrasound for Saturday. And its FREE under socialized medicine! Here in the States it would be like "okay the computer shows the first available is 5 weeks from Saturday." And then even WITH insurance I'd have to pay like a $100 copay!

No, in the UK it would be more like, "I can book you in 6 weeks", in the U.S. it would be, "I am sending you over to the diagnostic lab now". Health care happens much faster in the U.S. unless you are in a government program like Tri Care.

Absolutely not! They are MUCH more professional. They are scientists and they look at the body from a scientific point of view. Not a social or sexual one. That's why I never have a problem getting naked in front of a doctor or even medical school students because that is the only way they are going to learn properly.
