When 56 Year Old Uncle Still Has It! Visegrip on Streetbeefs Scrapyard
Спорт
We have an awesome and inspirational uncle who goes by the nickname Visegrip. Let's break down three of his matches against younger opponents. He has some great punches, but he also had one weakness that cost him a match. Let's watch and analyze! Let us know what you think! Visegrip, you inspire me, but please transfer this awesome spirit into chess or another competitive medium that doesn't involve punches, please (wow, I sound like your uncle now)!

At 5:36 I was singing with my retainer on my teeth, so I was having trouble pronouncing some words. That was hilarious. I might redo the song without the retainer on my teeth soon ;) Shoutout Carter The Yorkie.

That old man has definitely fought before. It may have been in one of the old school bouncer contests, or amateur tough man contests, but he has been in the ring before. Id bet on it. His punch timing is just too good. His defense needs some attention, but he is fun to watch. Great video. Thanks jerry.

His curious lack of defense kinda points to the reliance on his hitting power. That would have worked when he was younger and could eat a punch or two better than now. Definitely has been in the ring before for tough-guy contests or something - not boxing (not enough defensive movement.) Still would not want to take one of his swings on the chin.

Theres a boxer named Guillermo Rigondeaux. He was WBA super Bantamweight champ, had 2 olympic gold medals, 2 amateur world golds, and 13 other gold medals. He almost exclusively only threw jab cross combos. just 1-2 punches at different timings, speeds, and rates of volume. didnt even really defend. just out timed people and interrupted with the 1-2. He suffered a terrible accident with a pressure cooker and lost 80% of his vision. he recovered most of it and is fighting again 2 straight KO victories since the accident. theres rumors he will be taking a bareknuckle fight. if he does, it is sure to be a spectacle to behold. i mention him because you made a comment about this guy and his solid old school style. figured you might enjoy watching some of Rigondeaux's fights.

@YouCallThataKnife253 he is. Both as a fighter and as a man. Imagine, losing 2 straight fights, then, at his age getting an injury like that, bouncing back, and winning your next 2😲😲 like most people wouldn't have recovered emotionally, even if hey did physically. This guy came back and stronger. And now he is going to bareknuckle. Guillermo is a man's man, for sure.
This looks fun. I spent years fighting on the streets. I've probably spent about 6 years total in jail for fighting. In 2011 i was jumped by 5 people, i was charged, convicted, and court ordered to pay their medical bills.
me encantan los combates de viejos jajaaj y ahora se viene la de mike tyson
Now i know if i see some Guy walking around twon in a Gi it has to be Jerry from FCB!!! 🤘🏽 Ha ha. That Llorona Cover 🔥 Vice Grip is a scary man, Beefy and tall as hell. White gloves guy would have one if they were around the same height because i noticed that on most of his fights his reach was his greatest advantaed and it was most exposed vs White golves. That old boxing guard doesn't even have the protection of a bladed stance like Karate.
Jerry you killing me 😂😂😂 Uncle getting busy! Sitting on on his punches!
Uncle would do much better if he would twist his body behind his punches instead of throwing arm punches.... But I take my hat off to him!

His stance and style only works when he has the longer reach. Take away the reach advantage and his guard is garbage.

Living in Los Angeles, I get to practice my spanish if I want to learn ;) But some of the authenticity comes from hanging out with Hispanic Gery. I learn a lot about Mexican culture from him. He and I have a debate right now. Is Maite Perroni cuter than Angela Aguilar ;) I'm on team Angelita because I discovered so much Mexican music from listening to her XDD Maite, I'm not as big a fan of her music.
I usually disagree when people just say 'go to the body' as if an amateur has the power to throw an effective body shot. For less experienced guys like this, throwing body shots just makes their head even more exposed, and they wouldn't even be doing any damage if their body shots landed. Headhunting is our natural instinct for a reason. Unless you train, landing effective body shots is imo way harder than landing to the face, reach disadvantage or not.

Throwing any punch at all can leave your head open. When your arm is outreached, it's not at all guarding your face. With that being said, body shots are amazing and they do hurt A LOT especially when aimed correctly. with that being said, don't sacrifice half of your arsenal for the instinct to head hunt. The head is also WAY easier to move than your body is. Even inexperienced people can duck and dodge. A lot harder to move your torso without moving your whole body. The torso is a much more stationary target.

You guys have completely missed my point. The guy is clearly less experienced or less talented than his opponent. The only chance he had at winning was a couple lucky shots. Imo there is no such thing as a lucky body shot. They're literally too hard to land effectively. Y'all have clearly never THROWN a body shot, if you think that "go for the body" is useful advice to someone obviously outmatched.
Unc still got it.

I will never understand some people. My cousin just did a triathlon and I really wish that I could get back in shape. I have a bad heart and a bad leg. I also had a weirdo start something with me at the gas station recently. Luckily he backed off as well. I carry a little surprise that goes pow, in case someone attacks me or my family. (He never even knew, luckily it didn't get that far). But yeah, I'm always polite and respectful. I don't understand why some people feel the need to test others. I used to kickbox, and I have a lot of MMA buddies and one friend who was a great boxer. It just blows my mind that some folks will start something with a person that they know nothing about.

Yea this uncle definately has had some scrap before this. He wasn't afraid to brawl at all.
watching more of the video, I think Visegrip has had some decent training in old school boxing (just like you said). He is good with that long guard. his face is exposed, but he keeps his hands close to center so its only really exposed from the sides. But he, unlike most people who try the long guard these days, knows how to frame out with his arms, and disrupt punches enough that they either miss, or they land so weakly they can just be ignored. You mostly see it in the third fight against the guy in the grey shirt and white gloves. I also noticed, he is good at something very important I dont have a word for. I think Tai Sabaki would be closest to it? He is able to punch just hard enough, that his upper body can handle the force that his lower body is generating. this results in a more effective punch. Most people try to punch as hard as they can, and they put max force from their legs hips and core. what happens though is, the upper back, shoulder, and arms arent strong enough to handle that force, so although the arm accellerates out there fast, when the punch lands, the arm can collapse under the force the body generates, if youre hitting to the body, or to the head when its in a structurally strong position. Visegrip *could* put more leg drive in his punches, but I think he doesnt, because he knows that 60% leg power with 100% fist to target power transfer, is better than 100% leg power with 50% power transfer from overloading the arm muscles. another thing i notice him doing, is since he isnt using max leg drive, he has more control over the angle of his punches. they dont have to be purely linear, he can arc them a bit during flight to get more purchase/grip on his strikes, and align his punches more with his targets central axis/spine. I may be reading too much into it with that observation though, but i at least think i saw him throw some punches that seemed to be doing that intentionally. maybe not.
He fought 2 bums who never fought, and 1 bum who had a fight in the 5th grade.
What's with the dog licking the face, is 5hst related to the match? Great coverage, btw, they all should get credit for trying.

The first two boxers obviously lacked any experience and to make matters worse were pretty uncoordinated. If so no wonder his cardio gave up on him. Too bad he wasn’t the first one to enter the ring. It would have been more fair, a better fight and more fun to watch.

The first opponent had no strategy. He needed to get under the jab and hit his body. Then go up top. Uncle is easy to beat for a real fighter. He also could have kept his center line out of the line of fire. If Uncle fought a seasoned fighter he would have gotten destroyed. Even by a journeyman with a little experience and movement would beat him easily. Nevertheless it takes pure guts to step into a ring. So kudos to all!
