Main reason to buy shoes is not the studs, but the fit. Really need those wooden foot lasts to demonstrate he various fit problems and how the shoes accommodate those problems.

Hi Dougie, could you please tell me what do you think about the toe box? I have a slim foot but always wear barefoot shoes. Consequently i find most cycling shoes to be narrow at the toe box. Do you think the MX238 gravel could work for me? And lastly..website shows two options: regular and wide. Do these refer to the shoe in general or the toebox?

most likely not, they are too curved inwards. The CX201 has a more barefoot shape.

@@JacobChristiansen1 many thanks, had to send them back because the heel slipped! Also didn’t seem to have a wide toe box anteriorly.

@@riccardocastelli the 238? The CX201 is unfortunately also pretty wide on the mid foot and heel. It's a bit annoying that manufacturers think that a wide forefoot means a wide foot all over

Hello and thanks for the explaination! Question regarding the MX238 Gravel in Beetle Green: When i use the sizing chart it guides me to the upper End of 43,5. (My left foot meassueres 272 (+5 =277) and 104mm width including socks and pressure on the forefoot). Now first there is no 43,5 here in Germany available but 44. I tried the 44 and the lenghts is fine with a a few mm space but not too much. But in general the shoes feel relativly soft and loose and more like a sneaker than a sportive shoe. Is this the way it is supposed to be? Will the material get even softer and wider over time. Or is the shoe too big and i should search further for a 43,5? Thanks for advice ! Moritz

There should be half sizes available anywhere in Europe as far as I can see there are sizes

@@dougieshawbikefitter thanks for your feedback! I found a good source in Germany and ordered a 43,5 to try it out. As I understand your comment it would make sense to check 43,5 especially if the clarino upper will soften over time.

@@dougieshawbikefitter What is your experience with the often mentioned heel slip effect on the MX238? I notice it, too. In the smallest size that fits me well: 44 (43,5 my toe is touching front). Is the heel slip a problem when cycling and pulling the pedals up or only when standing and lifting the heel? Thanks, appreciate your advice! Moritz

I've got both MX238 and MX238 Gravel (both 41.5 Wide) yet the MX238 fits perfectly yet the MX238 Gravel is too narrow in the toe box, I also have the CX238 Road 41.5 Wide and that fits fine. I can't fathom out why the gravel version is just that fraction too narrow.

my only thought would be the natural materials do have variance @@neilclarke-smith9431 have you tried to stretch the shoe out with a shoe stretcher tool?

Would you recommend the mx238 for touring?

It would be ideal for bike packing but for longer periods of potential walking associated with touring I would maybe steer you towards the mx201 shoe
