Whatever Happened To Hex: Ruin - Dead By Daylight

Ruin used to be the King of the Killer Perks in DBD but NOW it feels like very niche perk that isn't useless but not as good as it should be. In this video I'm discussing ruin and it's fall from greatness and how it could be slightly buffed to make it align with the rest of the gen regression perks!

    I use ruin on Knight now along with surveillance! It’s a great way to check hens without having to go over all the way ^^

    Surveillance is a mean perk on knight cause it can tell you when to sick a minion on a gen.

    @@rabbidguarddog Oh yeah, thats my favorite part about it. And it saves so much time. Instead of going all the way over there, I just sick a guard there, see if the gen is now regressing and when not, I go over, because a second person is there

    make it so the totem doesn't appear until Ruin specifically has regressed at least 1 gen worth in total from all regression of gens on the map (20% from 5 gens or 100% from 1). After 3 gens worth of regression the perk deactivates or if survivors break all totems before it appears the perk deactivates. this way you get some value without wasting half your build and its not crazy oppressive.

    Since so many Gen slowdown get nerfed , and Sloppy and STBFL being nerfed , I started to use Ruin more on my (P100) Dredge , I play it in a way to get a 1vs3 as fast as possible and pressure as much as possible , that means survivor are forced to heal and unhook constantly while ruin regresses them , I’ll also bring Surge and Pain res for regression on top and for the last , I coudlve brought anything , but I brought Deadlock so I can hold on to that match , but let’s see how deadlock is after the nerf. I would buff Ruin to 125% regression or 130% similar to Call of Brine. I always loved ruin , since I don’t need to kick gens , didn’t really like Gen kicking , it was just hard to use sometimes because of bad hex totem spawn. But overall I love Ruin , needs a bit more love. (Treat them like they did with DS recently 😂)

    @@Andrekenz well only if I have to , which is most of the time , my MMR is soo high that survivors start to use as much second chance perks as possible + gen rush , and using their map to their favor. Because imo Ruin shines in a 1vs3 with other gen regression perks if u pressure well. I play mean just like them 🤷‍♂️

    This was a very well done video! I'd say With the gen regression change, ruin actually received quite a nice buff, sady it's wildly inconsistent compared to something like deadlock.Also off topic I still don't understand why they made chucky's flashlight perk a hex with its very niche effect.

    The NOED meta made experienced survivors wary of totems... and Devour Hope a destroy on sight any lit totem Though I have seen a couple killers run Plaything and Pentimento which... is kinda evil if you don't have someone running Small Game or Counterforce. Personally, giving the hexes a protection when a gen is done or survivor hooked could balance out. Basically a version of the plaything lockout. Gen pops... ruin and devour hope get a 30 second shield.

    Oh hell no. If you protect Devour for any time, you are literally giving the killer free kills Hexes are vulnerable for a good reason. If their effects stay too long, you're gonna have a terrible time as survivor without it literally having any counterplay. Well, the counterplay with your suggestion would literally hide untill you found all totems. Fun early game for killers where they wont see a single survivor for the first 5 minutes of the game

    In all honesty... unless in a SWF... I think it is like 50/50 a lit totem gets cleansed anyway... The old Undying mechanic could encourage more proactive Hex hunting. Even if it fails, it is a slowdown

    @@ZS-bg7jo Old undying was also extremely problematic. And have you seen how many people get tunnelled at 5 gens? Slowdown is not really an issue for killers. If you bring ruin and they dont cleanse it, its free pressure whenever survivors leave gens. If they do cleanse it, its free pressure because they didnt heal or sit on gens. Old undying was terrible for the game, because a 1000 elo killer could deal with 1600 elo survivors by just patrolling gens and hitting people. The main problem with totems, is that they spawn at random. Which means they are extremely RNG. If you could simply get the totems to light up once the killer starts the first chase, thats already plenty of protection for hexes and in some cases, arguably already too strong

    I still use it on my nurse its really the only regression perk that she can use do to all her blinks are special attacks

    KAK that is so funny, had some one call me ruin abuser because it is to "strong" yesterday. I think the peark is fine right now, maybe buff it to 150% to make it more relevant. We need a general buff to totems, make them invisible for the first 30 sec of the game or something.

    With this perk i have one idea , 200 regresion but when you kill a survivor desactivate . Good video btw

    @@kevinperes4635 Ruin is pretty much completely irrelevant by the point you get a kill. It was a pointless stat before it was removed, because by time you'd get a kill would be nearing or during endgame And if you got a kill before 2 or 3 gens, then you didn't need Ruin to begin with, because by that point you've basically already won, even if Ruin removed itself afterwards

    For me this perk need buff i dont see ruin totaly hex perk sure but ruin is just useless for a lot players some still use it but not gonna lie this perk suck 100% regresion speed is to weak after gen regresion limit i think this perk is even worse than before. Painres 4tokens for -25% of the gen pop itd worse than in the past but still itd the best perk to kick gens sure its good but you must down surv with m1 bhvr could do ruin good perk but they accualy destroying their game with ue5

    i misse those days... every single killer running hex ruin and barbecue and chilli, every survivor running borrowed time and dead hard, game was more fun back at those times, right now i think both sides just want to sweat a lot

    I can't deny that current dbd is 'better' than old dbd but it definitely doesn't feel or play the same anymore. The game is prettt dry considering the variety of perks and killer that are in the game rn. It just ain't really fun anymore is it.

    probably i am burned out bro, but personally on my games is just sweating from both sides killers tunneling a lot and survivors dont bringing anti tunnel perks, and if i play killer is just sweat gen rush or map offering shit (i usually like to play weak killers maybe thats why ) i dont remember being so stressed back then...
