PS many could not read, but they knew paper was useful. here in the states they often used Sears or JC Penny's catalogs for wiping. Or corn cobs in those areas.

My mom was a farm girl from Florida. Growing up in the 'sticks,' the Sears and Roebuck catalog was a gift from heaven according to her. It came around twice a year and was first come, first served. It ran out pretty quick between 9 sisters and brothers. If I had a choice, catalog over corn cobs (which is true by the way) is my pick! Although you climbed a mountain, Chris, I was quite shocked that you found those 2 chunky-style bits. Looking at the steep angles, I thought most alluvial gold would have washed much further down. However, tickled pink that you could find more! Keep up the great work and keep on a'climbin'! Warm hugs from Alabama ❤️

Thank you Chris and Gadzee for your amazing adventure videos. You guys do such a great job of filling a void in my life. Where I live, there’s nothing geologically interesting in the earth. It would be a two day trek just to find exposed bedrock with no guarantee of finding anything. But every Saturday, I’m transported to the chunky gold hills of Australia to live out my prospecting fantasies. I can’t wait for the day I get to see a little sparkle on my fingertip after panning. I hope you boys find a yam sized nugget to share! 🙂👍

At about 2.30min in you discuss a clay filled structure with different rocks of either side. This type of structure is typical of geologic faults where rock bodies have been sliding past each other. The clay material is often called "fault gouge" and it is produced by the grinding effect of the sliding rocks. Depending on when the fault occurred in relation to the mineralising event, these locations may very well contain gold. Some years ago, I did some consulting work with an outfit around Hill End in NSW. The famous 93kg Holterman Specimen was associated with one of these faults. The company I was with located the fault in a few other places but alas no more 93kg specimens!

Don't be so sure about that Chris! When my Dad was cleaning out my Grandfather's house, his neighbour Bill came over to help and as he turned over a 1945 newspaper, it disintegrated in his hand, on the page facing up was an article about the activities of Flying Boats up in Northern Australia. Neither the Catalina Club or the RAAF Club had that article on file, so my Grandfather had contributed to the historical record of both organisations. Bill had flown in the Cats during the war as an Air Gunner/Airframe Rigger and has since passed away. Such are the vagaries of history and of maintaining a historical record of events even when recorded by the media. Mark from Melbourne Australia

Looks like he’s using a Gold Monster 1000. Many prospectors prefer the Gold Monster 1000 and/or the Gold Bug / Gold Bug 2, which is very popular too. Dan Hurd, Jeff Williams, and Pioneer Pauly all use one or both of the aforementioned detectors. Gold Monster makes more powerful units too, like the 6000, but the 1000 is more than adequate in my opinion. I use the Gold Bug 2, but if I could go back and do it over again, I’d get a Gold Monster 1000. Seems like it has some better features, ground penetration, iron discrimination, and it has a better tone too. Easier on the ears. Check your local markets for used units too. My local prospecting supply store has dozens of lightly used detectors. Also, a Garrett AT Handheld pinpointer is very handy. Hope this helps! Happy prospecting and may you and your son have heavy pans too!
