How Much Gold Does Dan Hurd Have?

Ғылым және технология

@Dan Hurd and @mbmmllc team up for a prospecting adventure to determine how much gold and silver Dan has in his ore. This video has two parts: Prospecting gold veins for good looking ore to process through the crusher, hammer mill and shaker table. Part two is crushing, concentrating, and smelting the gold and silver down to pure precious metals.

It’s always fascinating to watch different smelting processes, after working in an aluminum recycling facility where we used salt and potash, sometimes cryolite for flux and we also used a rotary style furnace. Cool to see the same principles in different concepts!

This reminds me so much of when I worked in an assay lab In Thunder Bay in the late 90's and we ran hundreds of samples a day from individual prospectors and many junior mining companies who were sending core samples from exploration claims in Northwestern Ontario. I loved the chemistry and science behind what we were doing. Ahhhh... the memories!

In 1970 or ‘71 I met a man who had three quart Mason jars full of dust and nuggets. Not bad for one man working on his own property with nothing but a Long Tom sluice. I know he had three quarts because he showed them to me. Gold is wherever you find it!

I can see why Gold Mining is so addictive. It's like a Slot Machine Gambling. You never know when the payout is going to occur, the reward is much greater than the money put in, the reward is instant when it occurs. “variable-ratio reinforcement schedule.”
