Douglas has a very fixed view on face coverings ,The eyebrow line and bridge of the nose are the identifying points that surveillance software uses as fingerprints . A mask does not indicate a person has criminal intent ,as that is make believe . For example public auditors wears face coverings to hide their identity as the receive relatlation for holding those transparent and accountable who assert authority over the public .Tyrants have a nasty habit of pulling strings you see .

The burqa and the veil, surely, are the most aggressive sign of a refusal to integrate or accommodate. Even in Iran there is only a requirement for the covering of hair, and I defy anybody to find any authority in the Quran for the concealment of the face.

Not that it would matter in the least if the Quran said otherwise. Religion is the worst possible excuse for any exception to the common law. Mormons may not have polygamous marriage, female circumcision is a federal crime in this country, and in some states Christian Scientists face prosecution if they neglect their children by denying them medical care. Do we dare lecture the French for declaring simply that all citizens and residents, whatever their confessional allegiance, must be able to recognize one another in the clearest sense of that universal term? So it’s really quite simple. My right to see your face is the beginning of it, as is your right to see mine. Next but not least comes the right of women to show their faces, which easily trumps the right of their male relatives or their male imams to decide otherwise. The law must be decisively on the side of transparency. The French are striking a blow not just for liberty and equality and fraternity, but for sorority too

That there are certain norms and boundaries (not walking around naked for example) does not in any way mean that visible religious expression in one's dress is unprotected freedom of expression in a liberal democracy. Would Douglas Murray ban religious Jewish people from wearing a black suit and a kippah? Could wearing a crucifix as a visible necklace be banned? Would a Dominican sister be banned from wearing their habit? Could a Sikh not wear their Dastars? He is taking an absurd authoritarian position and can't be taken seriously.

We go on and on about Muslim women covering their heads. I worked for 2 years in Oman and 18 years in Saudi Arabia and have had conversations with a prominent Islamic University Professor on this very subject. In Saudi Arabia, they require that all women wear the Hijab with regard to Islamic teachings. They require the Veil or the Niqab to be worn by all women because of their Culture (nothing to do with their religion). Their culture requires a woman to wear the Niqab because a man should not look upon the face or eyes of any woman whom they could marry. Regarding my conversations with the Islamic Professor, he quoted the Quran. In the Quran, a woman should always dress modestly in the Hijab which covers the hair. He told me, to completely cover the face using the veil or Niqab is not a requirement. If a Muslim woman wants to wear the veil no problem, but at airports and banks where facial recognition is required the veil MUST be removed. Almost all modern Saudi women remove the veil when entering a Western country because they do not want to bring attention to themselves and nobody in the West is going to tell them the VEIL UP. The Niqab or the Veil is not a requirement in the Islamic religion so that's it.

"They require the veil for the culture" "The veil is not a requirement for the religion" The majority of the population guides their culture by way of the Quran and the religion..Thats why its called "sharia *law*" not "sharia policy" Their culture is dictated by their religion so in fact it is a requirement to wear that if indeed you are adhering to the "culture"... You made alot of excuses as to why it happens but the 1st on youre list shoild have been because its their *choice* to wear them. And also didnt happen to mention what happens if they DONT wear it.. If you beat a dog when it barks, then in youre presence it will never bark again. But if that animal gets comfortable away from you it wil start to go back to its natural ways of barking. Youre the animal owner and the women are youre "pets" Stop abusing them..
