Stop French colonization. It's ridiculous for an island in the Pacific to be part of France. If colonization continues, the local Kanaks will lose their island and become a minority in their homeland.

The whole world should support the freedom of the Canarian people.

As she said their Island. They are tribal people not western . They want to live on their terms . it’s there country . the french as she said conked it . the kanaks by in large live below the poverty line . how is that working for them ?

Let’s be honest here: After the earlier problems in 1988, French citizens flooded out of New Caledonia. If they had held a referendum then it is probable that the Kanaks would have won. So France set a 20 year moratorium followed by three referendums. That allowed France 20 years to attract French migration, allowing them to stack the vote. France needs to abandon its colonial possessions. This is 2024.

They "flooded out" due to violence though. Also, "let's be honest here": those who began living on the island from 1998 onwards could NOT vote in none of the 3 referendums. Therefore, there was NO "stack the vote" foul play involved. That was an important clause of the 98 accord.

@@user-jn9wq1fe4c Yes agreed, they left because they were worried - not only for their own safely but also for wives and children, and in addition many businesses were destroyed. They had no reason to remain. I am sure we will see the same effect again this time. However my point was that France, aware that it’s strong virgin base had returned to France, set a 20 year moratorium before referendum elections, to give them time to rebuild the French voters. They now have to change the law to allow those new French voters the right to vote. That is what has caused the current situation.

As an Englishman I love our brave French cousins who alongside us brought civilisation to the world. They should be thanking us.

The French government must reject or postponed that voting law. Rename the island Kanaky and and wirk yoeard independence of Kanaky.
