Watched a separate documentary about senegalese migrants recently- telling them about the troubles at sea is not a deterrent as they still believe the grass is greener. Also, destroying the boats is pointless as passage via boats especially fishing boats is abundant there. Creating an environment that promises immediate return/removal would be more effective.

@@donnabeuth3193 true, my mom works with Eastern Europeans who have rents paid for, benefits and refuse to work more than 20 hours/week so they don't lose access to it. At the same time, they easily spend their money on material goods and have had more holidays in one year than we have in our lives. You can't really win if you try to be a normal, law abiding, contributing member of society in the UK.

Immigrants in Spain are immediately attended by doctors and in hospitals. Spanish have to wait up to 10 months for an appointment with their doctor. Another so many months to see a specialist, another so many months for a scan, and easily 2 years for an operation. But not so for immigrants.
