What are your favorite baby and/or toddler knits?

Another beautiful vlog to warm my heart with joy early on a Thursday morning. Your sourdough bread is just as gorgeous as your knitting! So excited to see you using that green yarn - that will be a lovely cardigan. Please pat the lambs and hug your son for me.

Thank you for this interesting podcast. My first grand daughter is born in february this year and I knitted her baby clothes. Some from Petite Knit (Monday suit, Helen coming home set) but also patterns from French designers . My daughter's favourite was the Lil Kimono from Lili comme tout (both in French and English), a wrap you can tighten with buttons, I-cord or ribbons (which is cute for a baby girl) and assorted bonnet. I knitted baby booties rather than socks (patterns from Drops design), hats in different shapes and sizes and of course a baby blanket from Klompelompe. These are 2 Norwegian designers; some of their patterns are translated in english but most of them only exist in Norwegian; and you can knit matching outfits for the whole family.

Thanks so much for doing this video! I’m pregnant with my first baby so it’s super helpful to hear what types of clothes you found practical. Your son is very lucky to have this wardrobe 😊

I have to sit in the car on Wednesdays for an hour while my daughter does gymnastics. My routine now is to bring a cup of tea in a travel mug, knit on some socks and what your newest video!

I absolutely love the Knitting for Sif Erantis neck. I made 2 for my little girl and a 3rd to give away. We live in the Uk so it’s not too cold but the neck is perfect for almost any weather! I also have the Terrazo Junior but as that’s Worsted/Aran it can be too hot sometimes. Thank you for the video, I definitely want to cast on another Anker for her now 🥰

Ooo, I've been eyeing some of knitting for sif's patterns, but I've never gotten around to actually knit them😅 I have to knit something by them soon! Neck patters are so good for children! I'm glad you enjoyed the video❤️

I didn't know superwash treated wool has less UV protection! Will have to research difference more thoroughly. My favourite knits for my daughter were some version of Williums(?) overalls, cardigans and sweater and side button cardigan for when she's crawling. And wool booties even for summer evenings when she was a newborn/first months. I love combining drops baby merino with friends cotton silk yarn for a quicker knit that's not too warm here in Germany. I also like bonnets with strings as she now can pull balaclavas off and doesn't like hats at first but accepts the bonnet after 20 seconds. She wears her wool silk bodies even in hot 40 degree summer days, with thin musselin trousers. Though i tried to stay indoors the first year when jt was super hot, especially around noon. I never understood short sleeve bodies, short sleeve shirts or dresses or short trousers, I'd much rather use good quality thin cotton, bamboos or linen material that makes her sweat much less. Therefor also skipped those knitting patterns. In minus 20 winter i relay on alpaka and layers. O ribbed leggins are a great knit for girls as soon as they wear dresses.

I get that! When I don't have any specific babies to knit for, I still knit baby clothes, but I put them in something I call my "gift drawer" so I have a stash of gifts if I even need any❤️

I agree with you, I have made a few PetiteKnit patterns multiple times (Anker about 8x, various suits) also KfO the first lace dress (3x) and body, as well as the Sandnes Traktorgenser twice for my grandson because he grew out of the first one after a couple of years ;) Wool is so tried and tested, always a good choice. I like Holst Coast a lot for lighter knits (or supersoft) and a lot of Drops yarns now that so many are non-superwash.

There is something so comforting in making the same pattern again and again!! I do want to work on trying out new patterns & designers, but when it comes to warderobe basics for babies/toddlers, Petiteknit will forever be my go-to!! I love wool!! I've not heard about the Holst yarn before, I'll have to check it out! I'm so glad that Drops has more and more non-superwash yarns now❤️

I forgot to say I also knit the Flax pattern a lot, for all sizes! Yes, Holst is very economical because it has a lot of metrage, but quite thin. It also works well held double or with something else.

thank you for this video!! most of my family lives in a warmer climate than you so i think i’ll try knitting some of these patterns but in cotton yarn for more breathability. i love the kfo harebell/tinkerbell bloomers and the beskow romper by johanna paasila so far but haven’t knit much for babies yet

Thank you for all your tips! Do you have recommendations for good yarns for colour work? I'm planning a project and was looking at drops baby merino but worry that superwash yarn wouldn't work well for colour work
