Grandmother came to USA at 12 years old didn’t speak English ( she came by boat as there were no flights in 1912). She spoke perfect English with no accent. After watching many movies from the 1930s I realized that is where she learned English. She spoke like they did in the old movies. She also said that adding sound to the movies was the greatest technological marvel of her life. She was accepted to UC Berkeley at 17 but had to support her mother ( no English) and baby brother as her dad died in 1917 flu epidemic. I loved hearing Pascal saying it is a good way to brush up on English.

Middle of my IR training, this is really helpful in crushing some of the anxiety i had regarding job interviews!

Got called to the first stage of the EW assessment last July, came across this video and I agree with everything! 3 stages of assessment later I got offered the position in December and I start Type Rating in a few weeks! Thanks for the advice Joe + Pascal!

Amazing to think Pascal is flying long hauled already with only 1300 hrs. I’m at similar time and still flying Cherokees looking to get my 1500 for my ATP so I can join the regionals here in the US

Sehr gutes und informatives Video, welches auch meine Eindrücke damals bei der EFA (Interpersonal) bestätigen. BQ und FQ, BQ mit Skytest und FQ schön den Anzug an und dann ab ins Gruppenspiel mit anschließendem Interview 😄👍🏻 Dann unterscheiden sich die Assessment’s ja für die Airline ja „nur“ durch das zusätzliche Sim Screening. Danke für die Infos, dann steht der Bewerbung ja bald nichts mehr im Wege. 😊

Captain Joe, back when COVID first hit and airlines were basically grounded for passenger flights, you did a video showing that most of the time, bad times for airlines usually means when things are better in the economy, or in this case COVID, they tend to do even better on the rebound? Can you update us on this, as it appears they are back to hiring, as in the news they are talking about struggling to get back up to speed, and demand is so high now. Would like to hear how the airline industry is going now? And thanks to Pascalklr for the info and Subscribed to his channel.

Captain, I used to be extremely nervous on and before flights. To the point I had to go to the doctor for diazepam but even that did not help. Since watching your videos right from the start it has made me much more at ease. Sometimes I don’t understand what you are talking about in terms of the mathematics but it’s absolutely fascinating to listen to. Because of you I no longer need diazepam. I just wish you posted more often because it’s very enjoyable. Thank you captain.

Great initiative Captain Joe , your will to help and motivate people is just priceless . But how do you feel about the « exageration « on physics and maths , is this really how they should scan people for an operational and dynamic task like flying ? After all those ATPLs … A Captain with years of experience joining those airlines will be denoted as unsuitable for the job ?? If he doesn’t remember how to work the cosine and sine ??

I’m not a pilot, just someone who likes Joe’s videos - but at first I thought I was watching an interview to get into flight school and it scared me to death. It got better once I realised this was a test for already qualified pilots, but the maths would be something I’d struggle with right at the start. Reading that list at the bottom of the screen makes me realise that it’s probably best to have a degree in the subject before starting flight school 🙁.

I usually pass the screenings successfully. For me the last part of an airline assessment is always the worst part, the interview, even when well prepared. I always find myself struggling with this but unfortunately airlines never tell you the reason why they decline you.

I am getting ready for those exams and searching for all material to improve my english knowledge, I would also appreciate some suggestion on what books are appropriate to improve the synonyms. I have sky test but the English by EW Europe was completely different than it is in the sky test, therefore I would be really very thankful for more material to be able to improve my English. From one thing to another. Do you think Rolls Royce Ultrafan engine could be a solution for the 4 engine issue? That will say the future of 747 and a380 series. To possibly make them into a 2 engine aircraft. Currently they can't be retro fitted as far as i know. But would love your input on it since you currently fly the queen of the sky.

I’m applying to AirBaltic’s piloting academy. There’s no previous experience needed. They will train you up. I’m mostly worried about the maths and physics. Physics less so. I did well in my college class. But I hope that they can help me out. I’m a slow learner of maths. However with enough repetition I can grasp the stuff. Proof? I did relatively hard math in my laboratory group. Slow to start, but by the end of it I could conduct an experiment by my own volition. I think I have the English requirement down though lol.

May I know what is the software that Pascal used for his English practices? Anyone that answer it will totally appreciate 🙏

Captain , I've just done a long stint in hospital , where they gave injection daily for deep vain thrombosis, what do pilots and cabin crew do to prevent deep vain thrombosis . On long haul , do you exercise . How do you prevent such illness. ???

especially when you consider that the CEO Räbiger said to one of my flight instructors that they are desperately looking for pilots and that everybody should PLEASE apply, interpersonal just seems to be an absolute shitshow of a company, no idea why so many german airlines still rely on them, despite them being wildly incompetent?

How incredible is it that you have gone through hell during your pilot training and yet it’s like you are nowhere near getting close being a pilot with all these assessments processes…

Super video 👍❤️, but if you add the subtitles it will be more useful for the people like me who can't understand your accent completely, so please do it👍

Joe according to a book ,when you want to make a turn in an cessna ,you can use an elevator and a aleron to make an textbook turn without rudder .It can also anti sideslip and avoid descending.How to do it? The ESSAY is on page 185-190 help please. (I am a Chinese fan ,There may be some fault on my English. Forgive me )
