Thank you. I truly appreciate and love hearing your thought process and rationale behind fabric,embellishment, thread and stitch choices. One day .... with practice .... I may achieve a flowing natural process ( at present a loud disjointed discussion - that inner voice !!!) I am using linen or linen/cotton blend fabric but find my edges easily fray - any suggestions ? Thanking you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and absolute enthusiasm for hand stitching.

YEs! Linen and even a linen blend fray. I use Fray Check: amzn.to/3hPlC01 It is very helpful, completely invisible and stops all fraying. ❤️

Absolutely loving your piece and watching! Is the yellow bark the one from Stef Francis and did you wet and reshape it before applying it to your piece? Can you believe my order from SF was lost in shipping and they were gracious and sent another package which I hope will arrive next week. ☺️

Yes, to the question about the Stef Francis bark. I did not wet it, but rather applied as was, though I did rip it into the shapes I wanted roughly along the "grain". I just love that material; it's so much fun to work with! Oh no regarding your order. They are so lovely over there and always make it work despite having all kinds of issues with the mail service, COVID, lockdowns and everything else. I am not sure people in the US completely understand how disruptive all of this has been to the UK, a much smaller land mass with a postal service that is strained to the max. Can't wait to hear what you do with your new things!!❤️

oh! and just as i was wondering if you'd done a video on starting and ending your thread, and how you do that magic sliding knot thingy, you mentioned it! (thought i haven't seen the link?)

The link is embedded into the video. As you’re watching the video click on the upper right corner where you should see a little white dot with an i in the middle. Click on that and a drop down menu will appear which you should be able to click on.

Still loving watching you work, it teaches me so much every time. I continue to be surprised that you don't use a frame to stretch the canvas - as a beginner I would worry about sewing too tightly and ending up with a wonky piece. I very quickly bought a tabletop one when i realised i loved doing this and would be doing more. I can see though that perhaps it makes me more rigid, less flowing. and i wonder too if perhaps it makes me slower as you have to go all the way out the back before coming back through - unlike what you do, where your needle goes through and right back out in one movement. What are your thoughts on this Ariane?

Yes, so I don’t use a frame or hoop for exactly the reasons you’ve described. However the tension becomes imperative when stitching without one and I am always aware of it and correcting as I go so that the fabric doesn’t pull in and get distorted. I would try both and see which works best for you. ❤️

Hiya. I'm the very same. But lm so grateful for Ariane and her LEFT HANDED teaching. When l was a little girl my family lived in South Africa. I was sent to a Convent where the nuns made me sit on my left hand and write and stitch with my right hand.. I've never had the confidence to do handwork until l found this beautiful woman. Here l am at 66 years old and a lifetime of nursing where it doesn't matter what hand you use!! Retirement is AWESOME

@@alisonsanderson1770 oh Alison ❤️💕❤️ I was fortunate that no one did that to me, though we suspect my grandfather was left handed but forced to use his right hand. Horrible. I’m so, so happy my little videos have made a difference. That fills me with joy. ❤️💕❤️

Oddly enough….As a right handed person, I’m discovering I am having better success following Adrianne’s left handed teachings, especially on stitches I’ve not tried before!!! Life is great!

Hi again, is it possible to do something like this on a jean jacket and still be able to wash it? Or would you maybe dry clean it? I live in north central Alberta I wear my jean jacket maybe 4 times a year if I'm lucky. We basically have summer and winter and almost no spring and fall which sucks for me because I grew up in Vancouver which has all seasons. BTW that little piece of something was probably vegtable matter from the lock. 😉👍

I don't know how this type of thread and work would do if dry cleaned. If it were me I'd try it on something I didn't care about first and then see what happens when I washed by hand versus dry cleaning. Let me know how it goes!
