For the first story it most likely wasn’t the bear. Bears have a natural instinct to chase running animals. If it was a bear they would probably be dead.

Story 11 had me laughing loudly with the image of a guy on all 4s trying to back away.

Was on a hike in FL, and there was a sudden downpour of rain. Stepped under a palm tree, figuring the rain would probably ease up in about 15 minutes. There was a fire ant nest under that tree, and I was wearing sandals. Only got a few bites, but the pink spots stayed on my feet for over a year before finally fading.

I was taught not to run from bears because it can kick in their prey drive. Back away quickly if you can, and if not, how to deal with it depends on the bear. They used to say for black bears to make noise and make yourself bigger, and brown bears to play dead. That being said, I believe that has since been determined faulty, so don't take my word for it. If you're going into an area with bears, bring bear spray, keep an eye out, and research how to deal with bears in the area. And if you see cubs, get the heck away. Where there's cubs, there could be a mama, and that is not what you want to deal with.

Apparently Bear spray just pisses them off, people have been eaten alive trying to spray bears. Better to have a gun or a big stick or something that hurts....etc
