Got two here. For context, I live in Luderitz, Namibia and work in a famous building called the FelsenKirche. It's a historic church built in 1912. On one of the windows there's a picture of Martin Luther, the German one who started the protestant church in 1517. Many people ask me if that's the American Martin Luther King. In another section we put up the old steeple of the church tower and it has a sphere near the top. People have asked me if that's a baptism bowl.

Depending on where you're from it's entirely possible grown ass adults might have never seen a sunrise with their own eyes. New Yorkers for instance. When the sun is right on the edge, distorted into a shimmering orange oval, yeah. If you never saw that before, that doesn't look like the sun you see overhead at all.

Hi, blind since age 2. Note that a few of these could be valid if you didn't word them so stupidly. The first one... never: every dumb kid on the school bus: "How many fingers am I holding up." (I should get an award for never slapping any of them) every condescending older person: "Hi, Michelle, do you know who I am? Do you recognize my voice?" (I'm blind not a freaking moron) random idiot: How can they walk? How do you dress yourself? So, do you, like, see just all black? to my low vision friends: You have sight, why can't you see the clock/board/thing that's 20+ feet away. doctor: "What are her symptoms? What's wrong? Can she tell me what's wrong?" every server: "and what does she want?" "How do you know what you're eating?" (yeah, I know I kinda changed the directions a little to include people with me)

Our ex-cleaning lady was literally insane. If she had lived in Victorian times, her relatives would've locked her in the attic, that's how out of her gourd she was. Anyway, my mom works from home on the computer. Cleaning Lady knew this, because Mom told her. Cleaning Lady had cleaned around said computer, plus the family computer. So one day mom has to do something for the church and she says, "I have to go work on the computer..." To which Cleaning Lady _screams_ ,"COMPUTER?! YOU CAN WORK ON A COMPUTER?!" I just took a deep breath and stared out the window for a while. Cleaning Lady eventually got fired for screaming at Mom for hiring people to mow our lawn. She might have been loonier than a Canadian coin, but silver lining, she did make great inspiration for one of the characters in my book.

10:03 "Sugar-free" is sometimes used to refer to things that aren't fully free of sugar, but simply don't have additional sugar added. For example, fruit juice has natural sugars. Some companies add sugar to fruit juice to make it sweeter. The fruit juice that doesn't have added sugar isn't entirely free of sugar, but I could imagine a shop calling it "sugar free" (more precise companies might say, "No sugar added"). This distinction can be particularly important if someone's diabetic or something. OP might have even given the woman an incorrect answer, as most yogurts do have natural sugar, so the "sugar-free" yogurt might not have been "free of sugar."

I've been asked many dumb questions but the most recent infuriatingly stupid question I've been asked is "do you work here" while I was standing in an isle, stocking shelves, wearing a shirt with the company logo on it and a name tag with the company name and logo beside my name dangling from a lanyard with the company name in it. There are worse things that could happen but it happened at least once a day. I stopped answering and just started pointing at my torso...with all that branding on display.

Ah man... But seriously... Sometimes people's brains just misfire. Sometimes we just don't see what is right in front of us. The number of times I searched for something, looking in all possible drawers and shelves several times, and eventually asked my mother and she found it immediately in a spot I've checked multiple times still baffles me...

The first story with the name tags reminds me of my experience as a cashier for a major grocery chain. At the time general policy was to try to address customers by name when possible, i guess to establish a rapport and keep them coming back. I have a terrible memory for names so I found a trick- this was when you would hand the worker your card for them to scan, so I would glance at the name while they were entering their security info and then say something like "Thank you Mr Smith, enjoy the rest of your day. " while handing it back. I think most people realized what I was doing but one teenage girl looked really freaked out and asked in a tiny voice how I knew her name. Not a stupid question in itself but I had to pause a few moments because I had been doing it for a while and stopped thinking about it. I pointed out the name on her card and then laughed it off, trying to make a joke of it to make it less awkward. She started laughing as well so I think it worked.

I often refrain from saying anything for fear that I would inevitably say something stupid. There was a time I think in middle school where I asked a smart question. I asked how to pronounce the country of Niger (we were learning about it in either geography or history can’t remember which). I was afraid that I or someone else would say the N word by mistake. The teacher saw what I was getting at and thanked me for asking. For the record I asked without saying the country’s name for the above reason.

I lived in Texas for 8 years, and I can attest that there are both scorpions and lots of spicy food lol. Your story was just you being a cute kid. I was asked if I had ties to a group of murderous racists. I soon discovered that many of the adults had really low opinions of people from the South & just assumed that I was bad because of where I was born. This was stupidity being passed down to the next generation.
