That Testarossa is insane and very clean !!! .... TR came after the BBi but similar flat 12 setup. Standard Testarossa was 390bhp will bit interesting to see what this puts out. Love to hear it next to my 87 Testarossa.

I have been an aircraft mechanic for 24 years. You are spot on with the awareness of what the fuck your are doing. Also, never punish a fuck up because the next one won't own up. Smallest (biggest) mistake I ever made. Working on a private Boeing 767 owned by a Saudi Prince. I had to replace a small bracket on the horizontal stabiliser. The stabiliser was in the nose up position when I was trying to remove the bracket, and there were 2 bolts I couldn't access because of the position of the stabiliser putting pressure on a seal depressor fairing. So, I loosened the screws of this depressor fairing and put them finger tight back in. So as not to lose them. Anyway, another bloke reinstalled the bracket, and at that time, the horizontal stabiliser was in the nose down position. The 2 bolts went in easy, and no one noticed the finger tight screws on the upper surface of the stabiliser because it was installed from below and the fairing was sitting down due to gravity so everything looked OK. I went for Christmas break. 2 weeks la di da. (Lack of communication) The aircraft went for a test flight. Everything went well and was signed off. On the final wave goodbye, the captain noticed something sticking up on the horizontal stabiliser. After a quick visual check on a cheery picker, it became apparent that the section (3 meters) of seal depressor. Half of it had become detached and just done a fucking proper high speed Bruce Lee chop chop chop in the airflow on the upper surface of the composite elevator. Absolutely destroyed it. The aircraft was stuck there for a further 2 weeks until a new elevator assembly could be sourced. The quality department informed me the bill would be at least 5 million. That was back in 2008. Always, always check your work. Always comunicate what you've done. Don't assume the next person knows what you've done. Look at the aviation dirty dozen. I think every industry should implement it. Rules learned with blood. Ricky your Absolutely 💯 % correct. It's why I like to watch your channel. You've learned from racing that anything can go wrong at any time and take 1 or more lives. Aviation is the same. Respect 🫡 Love the channel.

Learnt a lifeline lesson , always find your tools !!

Working for my local ambulance service, got a Ducato in that needed loads of work, steering rack, brakes, driveshafts, gearbox renewal. It basically got put in the corner of the workshop, and as I got time and when parts arrived, I'd do what I could. Probably took two weeks of being on and off it before it was finished. I took it for a test drive, and after a couple of miles, the gear change started to feel stiff, back at the workshop, found I'd forgotten to put oil in it, brand new gearbox. To be fair my boss at the time just said, "Well, you won't do that again" He was quite within his remit to make me pay for it, but let it slide.

Doing stem seals on a old escort cvh engine while working with my dad as a teen.. Got to cylinder 4 and forgot to pressurise the cylinder so as soon as I removed the collets, I just watched the valve disappear down into the engine..DOH.!! Doing a PDI on a brand new volvo and I knew on the right hand side ramp you can't lift the car with the bonnet up.. So what did I do... yep you guessed it.. Up went the car and the the worse crunching sound you could imagine as the bonnet hit the Iron beam and folded the bonnet whilst it pushed it down smashing the screen the rear scuttle panel and wings.. Hinges you name it, I spannered the lot..

Testarossa uses Bosch K-Jet mechanical injection ... can't compare that to the F355 which runs Bosch Motronic. Those cars are separated 20 years in terms of technology. You will need to completely change the injection system, not just the injectors. Much more difficoult (and time consuming) process than putting F355 on MoTeC. You can source injection parts from the 512TR (facelifted Testarossa), which already had the Motronic.

Mistake : Thinking parking sensors are great, thinking i've checked my mirrors - thinking all is well as I reverse park. Result : Discovered that a 3" branch stub had been left sticking out into the parking spot, just below the bootline. Found out it will really mess up your bootlid. Lesson : Fit a sodding camera! Everytime I see the dent, it hits me in the feels.

Heart sank and yes they were in my pocket an hour from Skiphol!!! Pulled over into next available service area and asked a very confused cashier to take the keys and wait for a team member to arrive in about 2 hours and collect them. They had to give a password which was 'Stato' as that was my team nickname, never lived it down!! :-D

Pulling a McLaren 675lt out for check over before driving it back to the customer, frosty February morning, so wet the car off in the valet bay, to make sure no water marks on it from the thawing frost. Even with the wash on cold, and from a good distance so not over pressured, the screen cracked. I still swear the screen was already damaged, but....... Apparently, exactly the same happened the year before too, with a different driver (same car, just not me delivering it back) I thought the service adviser was going to boil over with the look on his face.

Biggest "small" mistake. Getting an old CBR250R (the good old inline-4 ones not the modern junk) back on the road again. Loads of work, got it running well, took it for its first MOT in years (which it passed cleanly) Left the fuel tap "on" after the MOT while it sat in the garage for a week. Fuel seeped past the vac tap and float valves, filled the crankcases, washed all the oil out of the big ends and despite draining and refilling with clean oil a short distance later #1 big end let loose trashing the crank. It had lasted all of 9 miles.

Little mistakes can't have massive outcomes, totally true. I cost myself a transmission with a big mistake a couple of days ago because of something I did over a year ago. A drive shaft yoke Got damaged at a drive shaft shop the replacement I purchased was too tight not enough lubrication for the brass bushing in the tail shaft housing. No one to blame but myself. I was fed up with the car and wanted it to be done. I should have known it wasn't right🤦‍♂️ Luckily I already have a rebuild kit for the (t5 wc)

Hi Ricky, Thanks for another superb video. I was watching the TT and was absolutely stunned when Dunlop's visor flew off and the 25 second lead evaporated. Totally gutted for him as 2nd and 3rd place riders flew past him. Moving on. I'm building a McLaren 4.0l, and I'd like your opinion on an idea I had. I'm close to the point where I need to order new pistons and rods. I'm thinking about raising the compression ratio from 8 1/4 up to 9 1/2. My reasoning is that it would give it a little more grunt at low end/low boost, and I could keep the factory exhaust headers and turbos, and when I want to go full send, it'd be like tricking the engine into thinking it had bigger turbos. I was also wondering about using a 21mm wrist pin vs. stock 23mm and moving the ring pack up in order to use a bit longer con rod. There, by increasing rod ratio. Moving the pin hole up along with the ring pack, I was hoping to get a 4mm longer rod. Please feel free to call me a nutter. It wouldn't be the first time.😊 Thanks, and keep the videos coming.

Small mistake....big cost.... Many moons ago I ran a garage, we had one particular customer that had a number of cars we looked after, including their Audi S4. He was going abroad on holiday & needed a set of tyres the night before he drove to the airport to catch an early morning flight & I'd agreed to fit them last thing in the evening (8pm) as we were booked up solid & it's just what we did sometimes for customers. Tyres fitted, dropped his car back to him, all went well....or so I thought. I wake the next morning to a number of missed calls, answer phone messages & selection of texts. He hadn't made it to the airport.....had missed his flight..... wasn't on holiday...as his N/S/F wheel had parted company with the car...at 70mph on the motorway...at 3am. As you can imagine he was less than happy or his wife. He had to have the car recovered back to his house at great expense & claimed off our insurance. Moral of the story is DON'T answer your phone mid way through torquing wheel bolts up, as I did, then not rechecking you had been around them all like a numpty. The final bill for the simple mistake of the expensive call was just a shade under 12k plus I also had to pay for a hire car, 3 days missed holiday, more flights & transfer from the airport in Spain to the hotel he had also paid for🤦 I never Ever didn't double check wheel nuts again after that!

Dunlop's visor. I blame Dunlop, for having something that can be screwed up. Either choose a different helmet or change helmet. In manufacturing we should design parts that can only go in one way round or it doesn't matter which way round they go. Try to make something idiot proof (although that does can just evolve a bigger idiot!).

Used build Suzuki GSX 1000 Yoshi race engines was being rushed by the boss and didn’t check my work as usual left timing chain tensioner bolts loos7 and it came out and wrecked the top end and pistons at a shake down test this was a week before it was going for the TT as a spare unfortunately the main engine dropped a valve so we we’re screwed no one there had anything to help so put a stock engine in we borrowed and that threw a rod very unusual as those engines were bulletproof took sometime to get over it
