Half stripped S4 B9 straight from Audi dealers, why they declined warranty? I wasn't allowed to film!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome back to another video.
This time I had a phone call with backroung story ragarding declined warranty on this S4 B9 . Car wasnt far away from us so I decided to go there and collect whats left from the car. This S4 was taken in for warranty work and once it was taken apart Audi declined the warranty. Unfortunataly they didnt allow me to film but I still manage to create this video about the this story.
Thank for watching

They are overall really good cars. I just tradded in my Lexus with 65K miles that needed a new differential, the seat belt was fcked, and there was a wiering issue causing the car to lose all power while driving; that no body would work on, and the dealer could not solve in 13 hours of labor. Before that I had two Acuras for a very long time; that needed 3 transmissions between them in a combined 280K miles. My previous Audis never had issues like that. But people live in their own worlds these days. Hondas completely scked for the last 9 years, they have not been able to make a Automatic transmission that dose not only sck but die too soon...in 20 years....But yet ask someone if a Honda is more reliable than a Audi. JD power and associates, might say so, the number might say so. But no one you talk to is going to say that, till you run into someone else that had a bunch of issues with their Hondas, like me!

This seems to be the trend with all manufacturers. They are constantly designing and experimenting with new technology and praying that the majority will make it past the warranty period. The governments ever tightening strangulation over emissions and fuel mileage will be the end of the most combustion engine that we grew up with. If their ever was a time to only buy new and sell before the warranty expires that time would be now.

Bought used Audi from Audi dealership. Also bought extended warranty from them. Everytime something had to be fixed was a hassle. Denied all repairs first, nickle and dimed the repairs after. Even the most straight forward warranty repairs took almost a month to get sorted. Part of the reason I switched to another brand of car altogether is the experience. Love your videos is why I am still here.

They did some checking and they told me the car was running fine and they can’t find anything after 2 weeks and so many emails I took my car from them without to be repaired. Guess what on the next day the warning light came back so I went there again and couple hours later they said water pump solenoid and hose has to be replaced. All was done under warranty.

Insurance which is warranty goes by law of averages and therefore individual prior inspection is not required. But to be honest I have seen auto body to sometimes ask for an inspection because the exterior body is easy to inspect. All internal stuff is harder to inspect or gauge. The auto body can be inspected in quick 5-10 minutes.

Here in Canada 🇨🇦 for extended warranty from an Audi dealership car has to be less than five years old and less than 100’000 kilometres. And must go through a very extensive inspection, every thing has to work, all control modules scanned, even a compression test, no oil leaks, any faults have to be repaired before extended warranty can be applied. Audi Canada is pretty good with upholding their warranty.

Clarity on the tuning / Audi Warranty, its one of the best when compared to aftermarket warranties (which pay a very small % and pass costs to customer also wanting to dictate there labour rate ) Audi can scan and check for drivetrain mapping prior to taking it out if that helps, once its been logged on the system it stays there & can pickup if tuning boxes have been fitted on later software. Once logged the factory won't cover any mechanical damage cos it's out of tested spec and have no idea if its poorly mapped. Any PX'd mapped cars should go straight to Auction from dealers I've never looked at the T&T online but reckon there's a modified car section 😂 I hope that's helped some viewers that have had bad experiences

Warranty - even the cover when the car is new is actually an insurance policy taken out by VAG to protect them from unlimited liability claims. This is standard industry practice. I experienced an engine failure on a two year old RSQ3 (cam follower roller bearing failed), both the diagnostic process and the repair attempts were driven by Audi insurance team instructing the dealer what to do next - tried multiple repair paths with 'least cost' being the only constant. Eventually the dealer replaced the engine having taken the initiative to remove the main bearing caps and being able to prove there was metallic debris in the oil galleries. a fully dressed engine was shipped from Gyor. The aftermarket warranties are basically worthless if you read the small print, consequential damage for isn't covered - so the component that fails is covered - any damage that the fail part causes is the customer's responsibility. Read the small print carefully!

With my engineers head on all I can think of is the design of the components used are not considering the stress these performance engines are subjected to. When I bought my A4 they were desperate to put me into an S4, even trying to get me to take one for a week to try it. My concern was the tyres profile was too low as I work on sites with poor roads, lucky escape I think 😂.

it's almost like things are coming "full circle"....the engines from the 80's/90's all need "forged this and that" to survive any form of tuning/modifying. I remember many a Ford CVH melting when chatting with the RS boys at my local cruise back in the early 00's (I had Fiat Uno Turbo). This example of Audi, is a worrying sign of the future for these type of cars, VAG Technic you won't be short of work!

the whole point of these and many other warranties is that you pay for something that might occur and feel safe, however when an issue occurs, they always deny service because they know that the legal implications and the lawyer costs to go against them are much higher then simply repairing the car. so its a win situation for those who sell the warranty only

Hi. Love your channel. Very informative videos. Regarding Warranties around the world, I am from South Africa 🇿🇦. Drive a Hyundai Grand i10 1.2. Noticed the vehicle was using 1 litre oil per 3500km. Bearing in mind I do services every 15000km/12 Months. Has a warranty of 7 years/200000km. So took the car in. They tell me they need to strip engine to see what problem is etc. They also said once stripped will need a new engine. So they tell me they will submit a warranty claim which should be successful to pay for the work needed to be done. So I book car in. So then on the day my gut told me to make sure about the whole warranty paying for the bill etc. That’s where the guy who helped me said only when they find the “cause” of the fault can they assess whether warranty will pay or not. Car has like less than 60000km. So basically they said that if it was a “manufacturing defect” the warranty will cover the cost. If not it is due to the “driving habits” of the owner. Just shows you the warranty is a scam.

There are two things pressing in on your serviceability. First is your oil changes are way too wide apart. I go engine oil either every 3 months or every 4 months. I could in theory do 4 oil changes where you only do 1. On mileage I do like every 5-6,000 kilometers. Then there is the brand. They are known to have higher rates of internal issues so that helps you in case they want to help and use the manufacturer's likely extended warranty for that vehicle.

As with any aftermarket warranty it's up to the buyer to ensure the car meets the conditions for the warranty - e.g. service history , tune etc.

I'm not sure that's what he was saying. I think he's implying that early cars from 2016 and 2017 have issues because of the use of poor materials. Tuning will always exacerbate any inherent weakness too. If it's any consolation, I have a (May registered) 2018 saloon with 28k on the clock which came straight from Audi at a year old with 1,000 miles on the clock. It's totally pampered and I normally only drive it in 'efficiency' which unfortunately didn't stop the thermostat and water pump going at 14k, a month after the Audi warranty expired. Happily I had taken the extended warranty which I still have but I do find all this talk of rocker arm failures mildly terrifying! It would be nice if someone could clarify which months/years are potentially a problem - at least we could then think about some preventative maintenance.

@user-uy8fb6xv6j fair enough. I was reading some info on a couple of forums that the 2018 cars suffer in particular. Who knows, I guess there is some luck involved as to which parts were pulled off the shelf when the cars were manufactured. For me personally, I'm going to keep driving my car. I'm actually taking it for a service and inspection and a specialist similar to this anyway. If I start hearing anything untoward, it will stop being driven and booked in straight away. I certainly wouldn't continue driving It. Way too much at stake, financially.

Audi extended warranty does not work like that. Normally an owner moves into an extended warranty after purchasing the car from Audi as a new or used car. The transaction is all done on line. Initially the owner receives an email invitation

VW dealer would not extend the warranty on my Golf when it got to 7 years old. When they did extend the warranty the dealer had the car in for inspection before offering the warranty. Dealer said VW don't warranty older cars even though this had been serviced within the same group since new and had a continuous VW warranty. Was this warranty an 'after market' warranty which have an interesting reputations.......if you follow my drift!!

For Audi, then they basically cover themselves if they find the ECU has been mapped, or if the car hasn't been serviced in accordance with their specification in terms of duration or materials. I don't think they should be allowed to sell extended warranties, if they haven't serviced the car from new. That said - you can go online, type in your registration and sent up payment and you're covered. The reality is quite different when you come to claim. The owner in this case - really needs to go back to the original garage or seller, especially if they were led to believe it was stock.

I guess, all you're buying into with an extended warranty is an insurance scheme against the car. They have a lot of assumptions, just like they would if you were buying any other type of insurance (car, home, pet) where they don't inspect the item at the time of policy inception and it's up to you to work out if your thing meets their policy's fine print. Unfortunate that this person bought a car without knowing whether it's tuned or not, but I would guess the onus is on them to find out if their car meets the policy's assumptions and terms of business. Shit one really. I took out an Audi Extended Warranty (probably through the same company as this person) on my B8.5 S4 and I got a refund after a week as I was able to get someone to confirm that because my car had missed its gearbox oil change interval that they wouldn't cover the gearbox if it failed. Took me multiple phone calls to get someone to admit that they wouldn't cover it, as every agent kept saying they would.

  • @chrispy104k

I find it really odd that Audi would sell an extended warranty without first checking the condition of the car thoroughly. As a customer before buying said warranty I would be determining what is covered and what is not covered under what circumstances given that it is a second hand vehicle. It seems to me that the customer has failed to do their due diligence and equally Audi has failed to do their due diligence. The whole situation is a bit of a shemozzle.
