The cities of Liverpool and Glasgow are very similar in every way and their passion for their football teams in unrivalled. I’d say there is more visceral hatred in Glasgow due to religion which isn’t really the case between Everton and Liverpool.

As a City fan I would say Manchester of course. What I would say is Everton tends to be full of locals who have a great passion for the club, bleed blue searching and hoping for a return to true glory. LFC is a monster sized club with some very passionate fans from all over, lots of causal supporters and day trippers. Within the City I see more passion in the ground from Everton fans.

I'm a Londoner who spent his youth in London but lives in Liverpool now after university. Simply put, Liverpool is the football city of the country. People genuinely obsessed up here. London have so many teams it's diluted BUT even saying that, I have genuinely met more Man U fans in London than either Chelsea or Arsenal (you think after 18 years I would have met more fans who supported a London based club).

Reason being is because they haven’t had virtually any success in the last 70 years and yet they sell out their 50,000 seat stadium every single week regardless of whether they’re in the Premier League or Championship, they travel more than any other team (not just cause they’re further away than most other teams, I’m talking a combination of that plus the fact they have almost double the size of away fans for most other teams), they sing loudly and passionately regardless of facing their rivals or facing a team that means nothing, and more importantly they’re doing all that while not bringing in any trophies whatsoever. For me that’s more of an indication of passion than anything. If you’re a Rangers fan and you’re under the age of 20 and let’s say your family aren’t interested in football, why choose to be a Rangers fan? Are you a passionate Unionist? Maybe but it seems like support for the union is dying in young people in Scotland and you see fewer and fewer Union Jacks in Ibrox every year, so probably not that, the real reason you’d probably pick them is because they’re the most successful team in Scotland, so you always know you’re going to see a bunch of title wins in your lifetime, with Celtic only being the hurdle along the way. If you apply the same scenario to Newcastle, why would anyone support them? Why do Newcastle have an extremely large fan base across the world when they’ve seen zero success? They’re probably the most passionate fan base in the world where almost all of them have never seen their team win a top title. The answer is because the fans of Newcastle are so deeply passionate about their club and their city that people around the world have an attraction towards them regardless of how shit they’ve played for so long, that’s passion, to me at least.

Newcastle vs Liverpool was always such a good game live at St James Park or Anfield for the atmosphere, the pool away fans would always scream there heads off and always made for a good clash of supporters. Miss those days!

UK most passionate cities about football. Glasgow Liverpool Newcastle Manchester London. I've been to them all for matches but these are the most passionate supported cities in the UK. Glasgow and liverpool live football. From Ireland. In my experience anyway.

Speaking as someone who left Scouse Land, you have to understand the context of what football means to its inhabitants. Life isn’t great in Liverpool, so for a lot of the city football is all they have - they live from game to game. The fabric of football is intertwined with the daily life of the city, it’s the heartbeat. In my opinion that’s what makes Liverpool unique and quite easily the most impassioned football city. I used to go to every away game - Everton - and the only other city where I got that same feeling was Newcastle. Leeds are mad for it too.

When the question is "Who's the most passionate city?" Its more about looking at people as football fans, not as fans of respective clubs. So living in London and supporting a non London club (and vice versa) is irrelevant to the conversation. Glasgow is a good shout too however I just can't take Scottish football seriously. At the end of the day passion is a subjective term and so is the answer to the question.

In terms of passionate fan bases: I'd put Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds above London

@@Skelly1878 Liverpool and Manchester are better than Glasgow. Glasgow "passion" is so overrated. Even Birmingham is better. London through sheer amount of clubs at all levels is unmatched. Nobody can tell me there isn't passion between Millwall and West Ham or Arsenal and Tottenham or palace and Charlton or Chelsea and Fulhum. There are like 7 heated heated derbys

Easily Glasgow! I'm a Hearts fan from Edinburgh and have been to games all over England and Scotland. There is nothing that can compare to Glasgow.

As a Liverpool supporter if it wasn’t the city of Liverpool. For me it would be Newcastle.

This isn’t even a debate it’s Birmingham the derby days are madness and when a rival team fans runs on to the pitch and punches a player

The west midlands as a whole is a massive hotbed and passion for football. Wolves, West Brom, Birmingham City, Villa. All big clubs and with lots of history and a big community presence

Realistically it's a northern city; Newcastle, Liverpool and Leeds all being most notorious in my opinion. If I had to pick up one, I'd pick Merseyside.

When I hear “biggest footballing city” I think about the number of fans, the derby days that make the city stand still, the families and friends divided, the no go areas for away fans and the fact football is the only true sport in the city. Apart from the stats London doesn’t tick any of those boxes. I don’t step off the train in Paddington thinking I’ve arrived in a footballing city.

@@ThePlaylistFootball For me its Liverpool and Manchester, honourable mentions for Glasgow and Birmingham. In my head London misses out because there is so much else going on, football is perhaps more culturally significant to people in those other cities.

I love this everton fan and am a liverpool fan.

I can’t really even stand Celtic or Rangers but this is Glasgow hands down. Honestly guys, the passion cannot be rivalled anywhere in the UK. Comparing London to Glasgow in terms of football passion is just frankly funny

Everton have been there for the start.Everton we're only twice relagated and only out of the top flight for 4 seasons.In them 4 seasons Liverpool we're in the top flight.Arsenal and London clubs were not part of it until a later stage.

I grew up between living in london and glasgow and used to visit family in the north west of England a lot. And hands down Glasgow has the number one spot.

@James defo agree as a liverpool fan, celtic and rangers have a much more hated rivalry than us and everton. We are united as a city with left wing politics, whereas rangers have always hated the left wing government of scotland and they have israel flags whereas celtic have Palestine flags.

This is why you can’t debate an argument like that. The question was most passionate city. The defence was well we’ve won 29titles between us...... I’d say Leeds. One club city and literally everyone supports them. Loyal support in every league they played in. Always a full stadium. No matter who or what they were playing in.

Can’t believe no one is talking about Tyne wear. Sunderland and Newcastle fans are some of the most dedicated, even though they haven’t won much the numbers they put up in they’re respective leagues and population are ridiculous. If we expand it to europe, derbies like belgrade derby between red star and partizan, between galatsaray and besiktas in istanbul, roma and lazio in rome is miles more passionate than any british derby (bar offcourse the old firm)
