And then, CB players looked at the camera and said "I am Chainsaw Man", and chainsawed through all of 5th gen MH.

You probably should've mentioned this for Savage Axe: if you have slinger ammo and perform an axe attack, you can do a slinger burst, which can be comboed into another axe attack except for morphing back to sword. This simulates Ready Stance from RiseBreak, allowing players to dump Chainsaw uptime in exchange for DPS on a downed monster. In general, the risk/reward nature of spending phials to use the double swing when Savage Axing is something that I love about Savage Axe, even if I still prefer Spinning Axe and RiseBreak CB as a whole though.

I didn't know this, but its another tool available for savage axe. Thank you. When i remember gu cb, i now realize risebreak is a tad bit broken. Staying in axe mode for 90% of the hunt should not be the norm. Discouraging morphs was the main culprit and the sbas just fueled the playstyle further. 40% sns 60% axe mode feels like a decent ratio, But the savage axe phial drain causes it to feels more like 60% sns 40% axe mode. Also just losing phials when the monster leaves just feels bad.

@@greadyknightto be completely honest I like the separation of styles in RiseBreak. My experience with CB in worldborne was that I was always in SnS mode and whenever I landed a GP I just simply countered with Saed or aed. I never used savage axe simply because it wasn't worth it imo. Outside of the guard point that I never used I don't see much value of savage axe when Aed and Saed just provide more instant damage. Also I like RiseBreaks Savage axe more just because I liked the visual of carving through the monster more than multi hitting across the monster.

@@kasando also eating through sharpness for 1 chop is a feelsbad moment. Savage axe feels hella clunky and yet people defend it to the ends of the earth.

@@greadyknight Yeah. If you didn't have any sharpness retention skills it just wasn't worth it. Plus those skills were crazy investments for a weapon that already has crazy skill tax. I remember asking a friend and they didn't really have a good answer as to why they like savage axe outside of it just being an extra tool for them. When I asked how often they used it they couldn't give me a definite answer outside of just using the GP after deciding to do an AED or SAED at a bad time. I think what you proposed is probably a much better way to implement savage axe. A mix between World and Rise. I think accessing savage axe the way World does but then all the benefits from Rise would probably make it much better. Also I think World felt clunky for both Switch Axe and CB. They make you commit to a lot more animation than generations before and Rise. I will say I think them using the GP reactions from 4U though it top-knotch because that's something I sorely dislike about GU CB. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure even if you GP something in GU you just absorb the attack and keep going with your animation.

One doesnt require you to clutch claw and tenderize every couple of minutes to do good damage 😂

But it is required for optimal damage. Saed can get away with no clawing but savage axe wants good cutting hitzones->claw.
