I'd like for BassPro to carry the larger lines of these things 1/2" to 1" x 5-8" It's either cheap and small or substantial and expensive. I prefer a product that can can throw a cascade of sparks without the tinder being knocked about because the short rod is so close that the striker ends up in the pile.

Most of the ferro rods I purchased, regardless of manufacturers the handles always fall off. But hey, a little JB Weld or in your case, superglue, wallah, the day is saved. But I would always as is usual with me, went a step further, I used hardwood or a rifle cartridge case, usually a 444 caliber for the new handle, with the JB Weld. JB will work on wood too and by far better than super glue.

Really any Ferro Rod with a Good HSS square lathe bit glued into a handle. Guranteed to get a Fire.😝🤘💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥 a Good Striker Makes a Difference. I epoxy a Fatwood handle to my rod and striker.🪵🪵🪵🥓🪵🪵🪵 you can get a good chinese 6 " x 1/2 " more length, makes the job easier. STAY FROSTY BROTHER!!! 😁👊

I use the orange Chinese ferro rod (the one that broke) too. I have about 4 of them. The one I use is looking very thin, still works great. I have a couple of Light My Fire ferro rods and I agree, they’re a bit hard, I can get sparks off them with a tiny strike, they’ll last a long time. The Chinese ones are nice and soft. I have 2 x 12cm (Chinese) ferro rods I put handles on, they have HSS strikers with them. They’re phenomenal…😉👍🏼 One strike light, like the orange handled ferro rod. My daughter has the same one as I use. She’s pretty good with it. Hers looks like a banana. She scrapes the life out of it.😂

I have a few cheap ferro rods, and I prefer to use the back of a knife!, but the one I like is sold through “Zippo”, and is a part of a fire starting kit that I purchased for $15 .00 dollars a few years ago. Why don’t you see if you can get your hands on one to give it a review, you might like it, but again it is from a company known for lighters!

I believe I found that product line last year at a TSC, Tractor Supply and it came with rod, striker that allowed the rod to be sheathed in the handle, tinder and collapsible blow tube. Should have picked up several.
