WHAT'S THANKSGIVING? + How to Make Pumpkin Pie | Two Traveling Kings

We've talked about our Aussie experiences as Americans, but in this video we wanted to share with our Aussie friends an American holiday... Thanksgiving!
We brought a little Thanksgiving to Australia back in 2019 (lots of pumpkin pie)
Try and make some pumpkin pie and let us know how it turns out! Goes great with a Flat White coffee :)

About Us:
We’re Jenny and Logan, American Millennials with a passion for traveling and eating delicious food from all around the world. Our love for travel started in the UK where we lived and worked for a while, traveling to different European cities almost every weekend. So when we went back to our “normal” lives in the US, we knew we weren’t ready to settle down. This motivated us to plan a trip around the world and then a year in Australia. We decided to give this vlogging thing a shot and have really enjoyed sharing our travel journey. Who knows where we’ll end up next, so be sure to follow along to find out! :)

Pumpkin is also good when it is baked or roasted with baked potatoes and carrots. I would like to wish you both a very happy Christmas 🎄 and I look forward to your next video. Greetings from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 😀

A great video guys ... FOOD, FOOD, and more FOOD! My kind of day! It's a great preparation for Xmas ... more FOOD! I've been relegated to cooking the turkey "again" this year as I'm the only Aussie in my group of friends that learnt how to cook a turkey properly after living in the US ... low heat and a long time (Dutch Oven) , most Aussie cook a turkey like a chicken and it comes out as tough as old boot leather 😂😂😂 The only ingredient we don't have here is the pumpkin in a can, but some supermarkets now have "pumpkin puree" that can be used as a base for pumpkin soup, so I think that might work just as well. Hope you guys had a great day. 🤗🍷 Am looking forward to the next video. 😀

Hey guys ! Another fun video! Christmas is hard enough with all the family and the hot food with the crazy hot weather, we certainly don’t need another holiday in summertime. Pumpkin pie is one of those things that you have to start eating when you’re very young, I’ve tried it a couple of times and just can’t say I enjoy it. Pumpkin scones though are delicious!

Haha hundreds and thousands... I've never had pumpkin pie before but it does look delicious! There is definitely an emphasis on convenience with American foods/ingredients. I have actually seen tinned pumpkin here (🇦🇺) but only in the international section of selected Coles or Woolies. I might buy one next time I see it and give this recipe a go! P.s. I've been really enjoying your videos and seeing your passion for Australia and Australian foods! Can't wait to see you back in Australia again enjoying your flat whites and caramel Tim Tams haha

Thanks for this. I had heard that, like our Australia Day, from a historical perspective, some see this day as controversial. Accepting that, and in no way diminishing that, the thought of having a national day of being grateful for what we have is something I like. I believe they have a thanksgiving in Canada too? In October I believe. Does that have similar roots? ps, Very hot here atm (Brissie), and the Big Bash League is about to start up again soon, so get out those bucket hats!

Yes you're right, the comparison to Australia Day is pretty accurate. They might have a similar holiday in Canada (not too sure about that!). We're cooling down and heading into winter here. Enjoy the Big Bash games! ☺️

In case no one else has mentioned it Carnation evaporated milk is available in most supermarkets in Australia. Also if you're ever back in Australia and need some comfort food from home (such as tinned pumpkin) give these guys a try: usafoods.com.au/pages/search-results-page?collection=sale&page=1&rb_stock_status=In+stock&mc_cid=84cac77d98&mc_eid=c4728c8d5d They're based in Melbourne, but ship all over the place. Cheers

We tend to treat pumpkin as a vegetable - mashed, roasted, baked or in a delicious soup. When I've tried pumpkin pie (there is, or was at least, a little American eatery near Flinders St Station in Melbourne - From Bowery to Williamsburg, I think) and all I can taste is the cinnamon.

@@twotravelingkings it’s looking a long way away...i was there in March anyway...got back to Sydney the same day the Ruby Princess docked...straight to Melbourne and onto Warrnambool then Port Fairy.
