I really enjoyed this interview which randomly showed up on my feed. I have been to Tulum frequently over the past couple of months and would have loved to try Turner's Airbnb experience. I'm totally inspired seeing women that look like me living in different countries. Too often people box themselves in and think something is not possible or not expected of them. Bravo!

Xavier...nopales (nopal - singluar, nopales - plural) are prickly pear cactus. There is the green part (which is actually the leaf). The part we call "tuna" is actually the fruit. It is very nutritious...I have made green juice with it...I put apples, lemons, cucumbers, and ginger with it - delicious!!

Nice! I enjoyed the interview! I love Bajan people. I studied Meteorology , and Radar Meteorology, in 1970 and 1973, respectively, at the Caribbean Meteorological Institute. In 1970, I stayed at a Rockley Guest House operated by Mrs Marshal. She was such a fantastic landlady and hostess, I stayed at her GUEST House in 1973. I had such great experiences during my stays in Barbados, that an offer from the President of Life of Barbados in 1984 to establish a Branch Office in Jamaica, could not be ignored nor refused!! I enjoyed North Point beaches and Fry fish on "Baxters Road. For lunch at the Institute, I would have "Ham cutters" and "Cheese Cutters", and of course I tried "Souce" a couple of times. However, my fondest memories of Barbados involve my friend Carrol, and her family and friends who made sure that Jamaicans had a good time, "Liming" with the Jamaikees, and introducing us to SPOOGE music, and parties hosted by the Fantastics and the Troubadors!!

Interesting. I wonder would Tulum retain its charm if it became too Westernized. I think some of these places need to retain those old features so that people can actually go outside and do things rather than getting everything delivered. Social isolation i would guess is one of the major causes of mental health issues in the US and maybe western world in general.
