    I just realized on a repeat viewing that whenever Taki is in Mitsuha, he does not tie her hair with the red cord, and whenever Mitsuha is in Taki, she does not tie the red cord to his wrist. They only wear the cord when they are themselves. Neither is aware of the red cord in the other's respective location/timeline.

    When Taki wrote "I love you" instead of writing his name, I was both left broken and left painfully in love with that scene. If Taki wrote his name, it'll be just forgotten and wiped out just like what happened to Mitsuha's written diary and other memories of him to her. Writing "I love you" left Mitsuha remember the feeling of being love and letting her to continue living the life she deserve. The heart will never forget.

    Your Name was beautiful, I laughed, I cried, I felt nostalgia, I was homesick for places I had never even been, I wanted them together so badly, absolutely HEAVENLY visuals, engaging and bittersweet story and most of all, It increased my love for Japan and especially Tokyo tenfold. The way that Japan is presented makes me ache to be there, I don't know why but, I have entirely fallen in love with Japan in the same way that I would fall in love with a person, it's so different everywhere you go, for me, being in Japan is like constantly being a child, discovering everything for the first time, it's like a whole day spent blackberry picking in the autumn, but it's also like flying upwards and breaking through the clouds to the rays of the sun. I may be some weaboo on the internet, but I have discovered my one true love in Japan.

    Buck Wade for one, I loved how simplistic the elements of the story were and how thoroughly and uniquely they were explored. I feel like they did a fantastic job with punctuating the powerful and emotional moments with the visuals and music. The music for the movie is incredibly well chosen for those scenes as well. For instance, the opening and the montage scene near the middle of the movie were key examples of why I liked the film so much.

  • @warman13x

    @warman13x

    7 жыл бұрын

    Buck Wade You're probably not asking me, but I'll try to help answer your question. Firstly, the presentation. The gorgeous backgrounds and settings along with the pretty decent looking and very well animated character designs give the film an amazing look. And when they mix up the visual style at some points in the film, it looks absolutely phenomenal. There are a few setpieces like the talk at twilight which and the comet falling which are absolutely breathtaking as well. The score is also pretty good, and the soundtrack/insert songs by radwimps are just perfectly used in my opinion. Another reason is that it appealed to both me and my SO on an emotional level. This obviously won't happen with everyone, and I can't perfectly articulate why it did so, but this film made me feel many different emotions incredibly strongly. My best guess as to why this happened is that the presentation going from light and fun to incredibly somber and tense, mixed with the pretty great characters, and a sudden twist in the story drew me in incredibly well. Since I'm not sure if you've seen it or not, I'm going to be as vague as possible. But setting it up as a simple body swap comedy and pulling the rug out from under you was done very well. It didn't feel forced due to the foreshadowing, and it's hard not to feel anything when you find out what happened to Mitsuha and her village. Giving you time to get attached to the characters and letting you have as much fun as they were having with the body swapping really helps sell the emotions of suddenly losing all of that. And to briefly touch on the characters, I really liked them and think they had a lot of personality to them. Setting the film as a flashback draws you into the struggle of Mitsuha and Taki, and then you get to spend a pretty large amount of time with them just fooling around with swapping bodies. They both have different goals which is always a good thing for a character, and they're both pretty relatable as well. It's also a nice touch to have one of them live in the country and the other in the city because it helps showcase the struggles of both. Most people will relate to the struggles of one or both of them at least a little. It was also incredibly entertaining to see them developtheir friendship which eventually turns into romance. (Which I do personally think was done well, but I understand why some people don't agree.) To sum all of this up, it's a great movie that succeeds in basically every area, even excelling in a few like the presentation. It gives you time to breathe and get attached to the characters, and then pulls the rug out from under them and under you. It made me feel many emotions incredibly strongly, and that's all because the story, characters, art, and music were done so incredibly well. But more than anything else, it was just an incredible experience. It's more than the sum of the parts I was talking about, and it just resonated with me incredibly strongly.

    +Daniel Hughes I was asking you and Qwem Lhjsi, because I have little clue why people love it so much. Based on what you said, it sounds as though I watched the film without much expectations. Maybe that's why it bored me. What you've said is REALLY making me consider watching the film again.

    If you read the novel, it adds so much more depth to the entire work. As compared to Shinkai's previous works, Kimi no Na Wa's novel was written after the film, whereas most of his other works has him writing the novel in conjunction or before the movie has been released. As explained by Shinkai in the novel's end note, the movie provides a third person's view at the whole scenario whereas the novel gives you a more intimate first person's view at everything. It's even better when you read the way the work was conceptualised and how much the music ties in with the movie.

    The amount of detail is incredible in this movie. I read that Makoto Shinkai is into Scifi so he might be into astronomy as well. Whenever you see an upward shot of Itomori you can see the Milky way in the sky. Taki doesn't see it in Tokyo because the city is so bright. Another awesome detail you won't get during your first sight of the movie :)

    The reason that there are red lines in those animes is because of the meaning behind the re lines. Red lines "赤い糸" ore "红线" in East Asia is a representation of relationship between people, specially romantic relationship. In Chinese mythology there is even a god call the Yue Lao who controls the red line.

    Hakajin That May be so. At least in the Japanese language I think the word for “love” sounds kind of similar to the word for “moon.” In the movie A Silent Voice (an amazing film) there was a situation where the word for “love” was misheard by one of the characters to be to word for “moon.” So I think there probably is a connection there.

But if you think psychologically, his thoughts and emotion (can be observed through his/her chains). You'll probably understand the "drift" of the comment. "Small words, deep meaning" as I would say.

  • @Nif-kun

    @Nif-kun

    Let me make this clear. I did not specify any type of chains he was in, I said he has appeared in more than two. Next, I did not say he has "Insulted anyone for their opinions", "Demanded they believe him", and "Claimed his opinions were facts". As I said "if you think psychologically", I don't wanna type down a whole Wikipedia of what I mean by psychologically. So I'll break it down on my own term; My opinion. "You seem to be everywhere in the comment section, spreading "negativity"." My opinion. "You seem" was already a hint on to it. I did not condemn what he/she was doing. I simply said what I wanna say, opinion in other words. Also, tone down the "all". You're stating everyone. Not everyone is a "one liner".

"Why not put in a bunch? Why not talk to a BUNCH of people?" That's exactly what they're doing outside of KZread. They don't wanna waste their time in such pathetic things such as an argument in the internet. When you can have an actual argument IN REAL LIFE. But if your still not satisfied with my answer to your question, make a survey. Ask EVERYONE, literally everyone. Have fun with that :)

    It doesn't really matter but the crosswalk after the date and the cross walk where they miss each other aren't the same. The first is in roppongi without a doubt due to the street signs and roppongi hills in the background and the second is probably in shinjuku, which is where taki lives. As you note the backgrounds in this film are crazily realistic, to the point that I was able to get a sense of where Taki lives from the scene where mizuha first steps outside of taki's apartment because landmarks like roppongi hills, midtown and Tokyo tower are drawn so clearly. Hell, the building across the street from my old house was clearly visible. By contrast, mizuha's hometown is fictional (although the region it's in and the towns nearby that get featured when taki goes to look for her are totally real) and has this dreamy, not quite real feeling to it from the beginning. I found myself trying to figure out where it is wondering if there even is a place like it or it's just supposed to be a composite of many other beautiful rural towns, but when I saw the scene they visit the place where the god body is I knew then that the rural scenes are not supposed to be taken literally.

    I've seen it and will have to point out that for 'teenage/youth feel/enjoyment', Kimi no Na Wa. is the way to go. If you want a full emotion rollercoaster then get ready, Koe no Katachi will absolutely take you for a round of laughs, anger, sadness and happiness in that exact order. Koe no Katachi literally makes Kimi no Na Wa. Look like a pure slice of life anime that does poorly in romance department.

    Man takes almost a year to get this movie in a theater in my area of the US, but F-ing SAO is out in a month. The only justice is Your Name is still playing in the Austin area after 2 weeks, and SAO only had a one day event. How long are we going to have to wait for A Silent Voice?

    Lol those Gigguk recommendations, good man. To add, even though I have next to no experience in video editing, your break down, and shot for shot frame pauses helped me in seeing where the animators may layer environments on top of characters. IE Taki walking through the snow in that white background.

    Spoiler for those of you who haven't seen Weathering with you yet. You know that Taki and Mitsuha are in weathering with you, meaning... weathering with you takes place in the same universe as Your Name, there are also hints. The final scenes of your name when Taki is in the cafe, it's raining. And after the rain, it starts snowing, and on Weathering with you there is a scene where Its raining then it starts snowing. And when Taki and Mitsuha are running around trying to find each other, there's a bunch of puddles, meaning it stopped raining. And that means it's the morning of the day when Hina sacrificed herself. And there is a huge stormy looking cloud, and on weathering with you, the scene where Hodoka is running on the tracks, theres a huge stormy looking cloud.

    @@myth3300 Actually it doesn't, as you can see, the ending of your name showed time passing and showed cherry blossoms in the ground meaning it is spring, even in the ending it's still is spring and as we know the sunshine only lasted for a day and it's suppoed to be summer, not spring. Unless of course they're not in tokyo in which case it makes perfect sense

    This might contain spoliers If you read the novel of Weathering with you, at the end when Hodaka goes to Taki's grandmother's house, he sees a photo of Taki's wedding. So, hopefully he married Mitsuha 😆😆😆
