If its a Yorkshire pudding, it has to be beef with gravy. There should really be a Lamb with gravy and mint sauce option at that place though. That is very traditional.
You're right, it's a Sunday dinner in a yorkie wrap. If you prefer crispy yorkies, make a fresh one of that size and fill it with meat, veg, gravy & sauce. (Almost like using the yorkie as a trencher plate)

I have a lot of English and Irish in me, but funny enough I’ve never tried a Yorkshire pudding. I was raised primarily with learning cooking from my grandma and dad who both were born in Appalachia Kentucky with a heavy German influence. So most of my food consists of root veggies, sausage, ans cabbage lol
That's cool, I've never seen wraps made out of Yorkshire pudding. Usually we have them alongside roast dinner, they're like this but little bowls instead of flat. Also by the sound of it what you had was Sunday dinner wrapped in Yorkshire.

Yummy! My mum was from London & this was our bread w/ our every Sunday dinner of roast beef & roasters (potatoes cut into bite sized pieces & roasted in the oven). Never did nail her yorkshire pudding, tho. Sadly, she passed away 7 yrs ago & sure miss her & it!
Popovers! They’re so good! Easy to bake too!
I have, and it was in the exact same place, the Christmas market in Bristol. I had the turkey one with the stuffing in that wrap. Loved it.
I've definitely tried these before. Not in wrap from, but my mom made them one year for Christmas, it was great.
I'm salivating. I LOVE Yorkshire pudding so much I didn't know they made wraps out of them. I need to tell my parents about this!
Such a small world, I've been following you for a while and I often visit these parts of Bristol :)
I’m sooooo jealous right now!!! The food looks phenomenal!!! Thank you for sharing your foodie adventure!!!
We make much smaller ones and they're always perfect, only soggy on the inside, poofy and then very crispy on the inside. Fill it with gravy and veg and that's how I used to eat a Sunday roast

if you like them soggy you should get giant ones and put your sunday dinner inside it. we even put stews or cassaroles in them too ❤ im from Yorkshire btw
Try toad in the hole! It sounds weird but it's great - it's basically sausages baked into a giant Yorkshire pudding.
Yes my favorite meal is roast beef w Yorkshire Pudding. When you are making the pudding you use the beef drippings in the batter!!! Now I’m craving some. I order extra suet and place it over the roast as it is cooking so I get extra drippings. On KZread somebody makes Yorkshire pudding in the shape of a popover. When you cut into it, the gravy is inside! I haven’t tried that yet
That looks amazing!!
As a British person I can confirm that this is what we have for a Sunday roast except not in wrap form
Love. Traditional Yorkshire pudding with Sunday roast. I can’t imagine eating it as a handheld wrap. Definitely worth trying
I love Yorkshire pudding. That was always my favorite thing my gma would make at the holidays or sometimes on Sunday.
I miss Christmas on Scotland so much 😢
This stall is the best! We look forward to it returning every year with the Christmas Market.
Growing up, my mum made Yorkshire Pudding. She'd make a roast beef. When it was almost done, she'd pore most of the accumulated grease out of the baking pan. She'd mix the batter, then pore it around the beef in the pan and pop it back into the hot oven. The edges would curl up and it was delicious. We'd have it on special occasions. 😋☺
lovely Sunday dinner, usually they’re smaller but it would be deeper
These are perfect. Represent Britain!
Yorkshire puddings are the same mix as pancakes. The difference is you put fat/oil in a tray heat that then add the mix. I find the song by the British comedy show the might boosh helps remember ingredient "eggs milk and flower pancake power"
@sneer0101
2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't rely on the Boosh too much for tips. For example: 'Cheese is a kind of meat, A tasty yellow beef, I milk it from my teat, But I try to be discreet' I'm genuinely interested to see what you would cook based on that. It would be like an episode of Kays Cooking. If you don't know who Kay is, search for her on here and binge some of her older videos. It's incredible.

Ohhh man!!!! I gotta get one of those. I love love the look of this. I'm from the states. I keep telling my hubby that when the kiddos move out and we're empty nesters that we're going to explore England! I love everything about y'all's history and King's and Queen's and the castles. I want to see all of that, and I absolutely must eat one of these things. Lol! It looked so glorious! 🤤😁
That looks delicious! The first time I had a popover was several years again while having lunch at the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. I came home and bought a popover pan. I make them once in awhile. So good!!
I lived in England in the 80's, but I never saw this, my Mom made Yorkshire Pudding for our Sunday Meals when I was a kid, she placed the Pudding under the roast which was on a wire rack, so the Pudding would catch all the delicious meat juice...so good!!
Omg. That looks DEEELISH. SOOOO HUNGOVER RN AND WOULD LOOOVE THAT.

This is a staple part of our “Sunday roasts” in the UK. I’m amazed that it’s a Brit thing. I thought everywhere knew of these. Lol. They’re amazing! Not great for anyone on a low carb diet tho. They pack a punch in calories 😂 BUT DELICIOUS!!!
It literally is a sunday dinner in a wrap
Can be used as a dessert aswell. That was one of their original intended uses. It was a cheap way to fill you upwhen meat was too expensive to buy large amounts.
They are delish and easy to make!!! If I had a wrap like that I think I would want strawberries or some kind of fruit topped with whip cream!!!
OMG!!!!!! This is bloody brilliant & i want, no, i MUST HAVE one of these. ASAP! Mind you, without the salad thank you very much. I can imagine, if done with a fresh made yorkie, it would be satisfyingly scrumptious. Talk about comfort food! Since i don't live in the UK & have access to these, i'll have to make a whole roast dinner, even though i live alone, so i can make myself one. Or 2, maybe 3.....
Looks amazing. Never seen it in London but I would travel to Edinburgh to have one 😋💥🌞
My nan makes the best Yorkshire puddings (not Yorkshire pudding wraps there is a difference) and she actually makes them with roast beef my brother and my favourite food 😋

I lived in the village of Horden for a while and the foods I miss most are Yorkshire pudding and keema naan bread.
That looks both amazing and gross. Still, I'd try it if I hadn't eaten for many hours and expected to be able to walk it off. Overall, elements better served on a nice plate but kudos for the mad genius who decided to turn Sunday lunch into street food.

I make Yorkshire puddings to go with every holiday meal. However, I really want to try this.

The only real difference between a popover and a traditional Yorkshire pudding is that yorkies use beef fat instead of a neutral oil. You should definitely try a cheese popover! Gruyere is a great cheese to use for this, but cheddar, Asiago, or Parmesan would probably also be delicious.
