What Really Happened with Seagal and Gene LeBell, actual Stunt Coordinator tells all!

Ойын-сауық

The infamous Steven Seagal got choked out by Judo Gene LeBell has been a story circulating for 30 years now, but was it ever true? Finally, the whole Seagal vs LeBell story can be resolved with logic, reason and eye-witness testimony.
This video provides the biggest breakdown ever, including actual eye witness testimony from stunt coordinator Conrad Palmisano and stuntman Steven Lambert, who were both on set that day during production of Marked for Death. Although there is a slight discrepancy between their accounts of the story, we do make sense of it all.
Find out everything, including how Conrad Palmisano got the job, why Gene LeBell, though not hired as a stuntman for the film, was even there in the first place.
Let logic and reason prevail to exonerate Steven Seagal of this nasty story once and for all!

You know what, this is why i love your channel, Viking Samurai. This is why i subscribed to your channel the moment KZread recommended it to me. Because, you bringing the truth to the people, and because you got so many interesting stories from different people, that is worth listening to. You are doing a very great job at it, and i wish that in the future, you can bring even biger stars to your channel to interview and tell some interesting stories. And as far as i know, no one on whole KZread are doing stuff like you do. And that is why your channel is unique. Cause, in the time when there is not that much of interesting videos and topics on KZread, you managed to bring something unique to people. Something so unique that no one ever did EVER! So yeah, you deserved more attention, more followers and more views. Keep doing your stuff, man. Your content is amazing!

I think some of what Gene LeBell has done in propagating some of this has to do with Gene LeBell's background. Gene and his family have really deep ties in professional wrestling. I think that if you listen to Gene LeBell talk about anything in public you often get "kayfabe" versions of events that are more about having fun and stirring the pot. Gene likes to tell stories and he will often roast other people just to get a rise out of people.

I don't know, Steven Lambert's version sounds like the most believable. It doesn't sound like Conrad was paying much attention to what happened between them in the first place on that day. And I don't see why Lambert would cling to a version of events that doesn't really serve anyone's particular narrative. It doesn't make sense. On one hand, it contradicts the legendary "soiled himself" story and on the other hand, it doesn't really make LeBell look like he did anything more than throw a guy who'd already let him put him in a chokehold. I can't see what sort of agenda Lambert could have by standing by this story.

I always knew this channel was one of the very best on KZread. Honest information and Viking is not afraid to say the truth or blow smoke up someones backside. And he has a natural ability to let the person actually speak without butting in but equally without the story becoming long winded and getting off point. He always follows up with intelligent responses too somewhat knowing what question the viewer is hoping is asked next. Viking you are the man. I always thought this story was total nonsense and fabricated by someone with a grudge or looking to make some cash, however Seagal has been absolutely plagued by it and it's marred him. Somewhat off topic but as much as Seagal was my idol growing up in the late 80's and 90's and inspired me to do Aikido for 22 years and martial arts, he is somewhat the author of his own misfortune. He lost all his top students by the late 90's early 2000's. They deserted him because his arrogance and ego was at an all time high and beyond anything you could imagine, plus the fact by the mid/late 90's the UFC was gaining immense popularity and all martial arts were under increased scrunity because of the rise of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. There is no denying it though, Seagal totally let me himself go. He became morbidly obese, looked liked Fu man Chu, behaved odd and all this just fuelled the fire. It's a real shame. Not the best look or inspiration to his fans. His films after his fab four/five just began to get worse and worse and I think it was "Exit Wounds" that really did the damage using those daft wires in the fight scenes. Seagal did say it in an interview that he regretted using them. It's just been a decline for Steven mainly brought on by himself and his complicated character. I remember my Aikido teacher attended Seagal's seminar in Paris back in 1999. It comes to something when Seagal's ego is so out of wack that he made his top disciple/student put his "pink slippers" on his feet for him before he sat down because he was too arrogant or lazy to put them on himself. It's little things like this that turn into bigger things and those bigger things became huge. In Seagal's defence though, I can't imagine what it must have been like for him to suddenly go from just a struggling Aikido instructor in Japan who had absolutely no money and a family to support to becoming one of the biggest action film stars of all time literally overnight without any prior acting experience, suddenly finding himself on the same level as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Stallone. Even Sly and Arnold did some poor films before they found success, Seagal's first one rocketed to the top of the charts. Can you imagine that? It's truly unbelievable. Let's face it, things like that just doesn't happen. It's a one off and i think anyone could easily fall victim to their own ego in such circumstance, plus he was a good looking chap too. Not defending his downfall because it's a sad shame to Seagal the way he is now. I have seen a lot of Aikido instructors in my 22 years of Aikido and In my opinion, he is the greatest Aikido master I have ever seen. And am not saying that just because he was a film star. You can see his old demo's of Aikido from his days in Japan way before his move to Hollywood and the movies.

I just watched all his early movies this last week. They are still awesome I think people hate him because he doesn’t conform to what they want he is just himself. He is an amazing martial artist and he really does put his money where his mouth is when he is passionate about something. I noticed the people like Rogan or Rousey only have second-hand information, "Oh yeah its 100% true cus Gene Lebell told me!" You're basically saying that Seagal had nothing going for him but his size and age. And those are real advantages but extra height is not a pure advantage if your opponent understands grappling and you don't. Seagal does not understand grappling anywhere near on the level of LeBell. LeBell knows effective grappling, which does not depend on strength and arm waving like aikido but on taking the opponent's center of gravity. Seagal's high center of gravity, lack of muscle and lack of takedown defense would make him very vulnerable to takedowns from LeBell, after which he would be done for. It would look like some challenge match between a bodybuilder and a Gracie in his prime except faster because the bodybuilder would be able to resist for far longer because of his muscle.

Not to be dismissive but in a movie you can do anything Matt Damon, Patrick Swayze, David Carradine etc. have played tough martial arts guys despite lacking competition records or advanced belts in serious martial arts. There is no evidence that aikido works on people bigger than you. Sorry to be blunt but that's where the evidence points. Now you see the Problem is, Seagal is So Pissed about this that He Literally HATES LeBell for this Whole Thing!!!... And one thing I wanna Point Out about Seagal's Body Gourds He had with Him on Set of MARKED FOR DEATH is when Palmisano says His Body Gourds didn't do anything, if You Remember, Steven Lambert said Himself in His Story He said when Seagal's Body Gourds Reacted to the Situation, Seagal looked at them and Shook His Head "NO" as in Don't Do It... Just to Point Out that I Remember that in your Video with Lambert.

Not true van damn actually gets very emotional. When he accidently hurts someone . Thank you for shedding light on Steven Segal.

One of the biggest problems with perpetuating this myth ultimately falls on Gene Le Bell. He has had plenty of opportunities in many, many interviews to put an end to this story by just saying it did not happen, or what actually happened. Instead, he avoids or deflects the answer. Logically, something is up, and as good of a guy Le Bell is said to be, obviously his avoiding of a simple clarification says a lot. Especially after writing a letter that denies the incident.

Listening to Steven Labert and Conrad's version of events, it seems like neither are lying. most of the events which Steven described happened before Conrad was aware, by the time he knew something was heppening they had already made up, he yelled and they all went back to work. Stevens description of events are definately clearer than Conrads and I suspect at the time Steven Seagal didnt tell Conrad all of the events at the time and wouldnt even want to acknowledge being taken down at all at this point. But Steven Lamberts description of events seems realistic and he definately seems to have a clearer memory of events, while Conrad's is hazey and he wasnt even right there. Great work doing the research and presenting the facts.

I'm really good friends with a guy named Glenn Odle who has trained with Steven Seagal since the mid 80s, he has a pretty good story to add to your video, I had him watch your video today and he says he's going to come on later tonight and comment, Glenn has had a one-on-one interaction with Noel LeBell who claims that Steven Seagal was choked in front of 30 people on the set of Under Siege, I know more about the inside of this story than most of you realize, Glenn also claims that there is a gag order in the LA county courts against Gene LeBell , I'm 100% positive Gene Lebell is behind all of this, its going to be quite interesting to read Glenns comment later tonight here.

You know Lebell has come out in his older years and admitted this happened. You can find video of interviews here on KZread. I have always heard this was true from lots of the Inosanto group who you may know have huge Hollywood and stuntman ties. Lebell states he was trying to kill the story because Segal blackballed him in Hollywood for nearly a decade after this... So. Idk. I have trained with Gene and I know many people who have spent a ton of time with him. No one ever calls him dishonest. They may call him ugly and mean but never a liar. We can't say that about Segal, sadly. Segal has been known to hurt people on set on purpose. Including Guro Dan Inosanto. And there is a lessor known story there of another very prominent and amazing martial artist and stunt man which I won't post his name publicly, but he was there with Guro and had to put Segal in his place... Thank you for uncovering some additional details. Conrad was a stand up guest and you can tell how calm of his account was. Lambert's sounds much more frantic. Everyone can form their own opinion but rumors are BS, especially someone like Kevin Hart who is another type of artist with little integrity.

I grew up watching Steven Segal movies, and I still watch his movies, even his recently made movies. I heard the stories but I still enjoyed the movies. In the end, I am actually glad to see this video. I also have to admit, despite all the stories, I honestly haven't seen Steven Segal say anything to defend or debunk the stories. That's being humble. Marked For Death and Under Seige were my favorite ones. I saw Under Seige in the theatre. Great video, great interview, and seeing the letters for LaBelle is fantastic. This video made me feel good :)

Great interview, but Conrad comes off very much as being close friends with Steven, so I question how biased he is to killing the story for Steven. I'm not calling him a liar, but maybe he's being a good friend with his version. Outside of Gene and Steven coming together to put this story to bed, I think it will live on for a long time.

First, Conrad is also a good friend of LeBell. Lambert is also a good friend of LeBell. Why should they lying? It´s the truth and everybody with an IQ of 60 knows that there´s no way for LeBell to choke out a big A-movie star in front of his two bodyguards and so on.

@@b.c.7662 That´s possible because LeBell was a beast when he was younger as a grappler. Everybody says that Chuck Norris, Benny Urquidez, Bill Wallace etc. but that´s not the subject. LeBell is a liar and therefore a disgrace for the martial arts community. He had 30 years to clarify that he didn´t choke out Seagal and that those rumors were wrong but he didn´t do that because those rumors brought him publicity (I was the one who choked out Seagal). But luckily there were enough intelligent people out there who knew that it was not possible to choke out a big A-movie star (at the time) on a film set(bodyguards etc.).

It seems alot of Gene's "fans and students" never read his autobiography. He says in there this exact same thing, that it was two martial artists sharing techniques. In his own words, his epic battle with Bruce Lee was him speaking up on him and picking him up from behind. That is literally it. And I have no idea where Tarantino got his stories, but it definitely wasn't from Gene who says Bruce was skipping lunch with the producers to workout and train with the stuntmen because "he was a rough guy and he liked hanging out with other rough guys." And while not Gene or Steven related Bruce Lee fought a bare knuckle scrap for the right to keep teaching westerners. Does any of that sound like a guy who hated whites or stuntmen?

Also Ron Balicki told everybody on youtube that LeBell lied about it. But the Seagal haters didn´t want to believe it because it´s such a great story.
