I have one of each. The IPS is my main, competitive gaming monitor. The VA is my secondary monitor for casual gaming, music production, movies, and secondary applications.

@@agid8818 If you're not playing competitive games where the ghosting will throw you off, get a good VA monitor and you'll be happy. I repeat: a GOOD VA MONITOR. Cheap POS VA monitors have really bad color accuracy.

At that point you should have just gotten a single oled for around the same price

VA panels suffer from black smearing and ghosting. If only for gaming then better to go for IPS panel monitors. VA is much better for watching films/tv. Btw I found this black smearing effect to be especially distracting when viewing in-game foliage. I could not enjoy games like Skyrim and The Witcher 3 due to this.

Could you share more? Just got an LG 27GP83B and those were some of my first two games I tried. And I noticed it’s nice but it could feel better. Nice because I had a cheaper monitor before

My monitor with VA panel is great, 165hz, 1ms, for just 140€. So I don't really care, for me gaming on it just works

Had VA the ghosting and artefacts ruined all my gaming experience. Bought IPS the only small issue is the IPS glow, but its a small one, so definitely pick the IPS!

Bro I was sitting on 24 144hz TN panel for like 2 years, and my second 21.5 IPS monitor was always the way to watch any videos, cause the colors were just better ;(

If I get a IPs monitor with 3000:1 contrast ratio, would it have the same motion blur or smearing as a Va panel that is 3000:1. If not then would the IPs monitor with 3000:1 contrast ratio be better than the IPs with 1000:1 contrast ratio. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍

So this is a biased video.. please note that this guy is sharing his OPINION, not fact. Also leaves out other thinks you must conisder: VA almost always comes curved. there are straight ones but good luck finding them. VA has "effects" of blurring and smearing that you have to deal with. IPS has less deeper contrast then VA which makes blacks not really deep black and COMPARED to a VA panel seems to have a "washed out" look. but if you have nothing to compare it too like a LED tv or other monitor you will not notice. As VA has the blurring and the smearing, so does IPS have the "IPS glow" effect. I have had many monitors and because of my work have talked to a lot of other people about monitors aswell.. So far it seems that more people can deal BETTER with IPS glow then they can deal with the VA blurring and smearing. It drives people nuts and for some it pulls them out of the immersion. Which ever is better for you depends on what YOU want and can deal with.. deep color, good contrast, curved screen (with smearing and blurring) then go VA. no true blacks, straight screen, high refresh (with different forms of IPS glow) then go IPS. IPS panel is the TN panel becoming an adult. VA panel is the little kid brother of OLED panel.

I have a VA and it indeed is curved. I do see the black smearing but it doesn't bother me as much. The only reason why I'm thinking of getting something else is because my monitor is 27in and I want to try flat, which naturally would be switching to IPS.

Because what's being said in the specification never reflects real time use, especially when tested with a calibration device like calman ultimate or spyder X elite. Usually IPS have at best (so far) at 3ms average, and 1ms average for IPS are currently impossible. But they technically didn't lie since they do produce 1ms response time on a very light color changes (like white to slightly gray). And to know the exact average response time is to watch review of people who use those calibration device to test true response time

That number is always bogus. VA struggles a lot with going from bright to dark on the pixels which results in very noticeable ghosting which is not even a factor for IPS panels.

i have a va pannel and i like the colors, but i have a mini stutters problem and nothing looks smooth. i want to get an ips pannel, but beautiful colors and contrast are very important to me. can i fix this a bit by enabling higher contrast in nvidia control pannel? on my current monitor i have 70% contrast, 0.95 gamma and 60% digital vibrancy and FAKE hdr from my monitor setting enabled and i like it. will an ips monitor with hdr and these settings look similar?

I’m mainly into narrative driven games like god of war, marvel Spider-Man, ac… would an IPs do a better job at offering good graphics and picture quality

most VA pannels are in curved screen monitors, therefore they are not cheaper to purchase than IPS panneled monitors

Get both get oled 🗿

The XL2566K costs 670€ here, for that price i expect better build quality. How can you justifiy that cheap looking stand and that old looking plastic for that steep of a price.

Lenovo G34w-30 VA has low response times, it's even better than some IPS panel

VA's black smearing and OLED's burn-in make those unacceptable.

Extremely shallow analysis. There are VA panels that smoke most IPS panels for response time. You should always look at in depth reviews for any monitor purchase. Also OLED is just better if you can afford them and don't game in a bright room.

Not really, ghosting is extremely noticeable in older VA panels & makes most modern fast-paced fps games borderline unplayable. It’s like playing drunk vs sober lol

I bought an MSI VA monitor that has a 0.5ms response time. Would that 0.5ms make it equivalent or even better than an IPS monitor with a 1ms response time?

Older made panels. The manufacturing of LCD displays these day are way more matured compared to like over a decade ago. Your chances of getting a display with dead pixels is statically much lower these day if you choose to get a modern display.

If you have the budget get high-quality 240hz or more for ips competitive gaming, if you are really just in for real competitive gaming get TN. Cheap ips is very bad for competitive and doesnt last long not durable. TN is for competitive gaming and is very durable.

@@r4nowo yes and also maybe its better for gaming with tn, but first most of us dont wanna get into esport and are only normal gamers, so we also dont even remember the difference between ips and tn, and normaly you dont have to get the maximum speed or reaction time out of the display and for me i was playing on zowie tn esport display, but i have ips panel now cause the zowie was on half site full green and had pixel damage without any reason, so i desided to go with ips and it really makes no differnce, except the much better colors from ips and viewing angles, but really you dont see any differnece only if you are esport pro and playing 24hours a day than maybe you will notice xd

Ips panels are so overated I bought one and I regret it so much. My eyes are in pain despite all the good reviens on that shit. I wish I didnt donate my old tn panel even if the colors werent accurant it was much more pleasent to my eyes and it was so fast in games
