3:20 - easiest tip! One gentle pull over to prime the engine, then short pulls to get the engine up to the compression stroke (you can feel it, when it gets to the 'resistance' - that's TDC on compression) String all the way in, lock the shoulder and use your upper body and away she goes :)

Could just imagine you two on a rickshaw rally. The videos would be amazing. Have watched a few and it seems that the engine/electrical issues encountered on a long distance rickshaw run will make boat life seem easy. Love your videos

Take the recoil starter off the generator. Find beg or steal a socket that fits on the big nut underneath. Then use a battery drill to the spin the engine on the genny. It worked on our old lawnmower. just make sure the socket is a loose fit on the nut.

If you like Indian food you must go to India! We kept our sailboat in Kerala after sailing there from Turkey. We travelled all over the sub-continent, usually by train and staying with local people in homestays. It's cheap and gets you close to the real India. The beaches are average, but the mountains, deserts and rainforests are spectacular. The history is rich and the people are incredibly friendly. BUT. It's Marmite: you love it or hate it. For us, the best food was in Kerala, particularly the breakfasts. And for veggies there are few better places to be than India. We've been travelling for 20 years, and our three favourite countries so far are India, Turkey and Indonesia (where we are right now). I hope you live your dream of travelling everywhere. Liz 🙏⛵📷

Ahh that sounds amazing - we’ve always considered learning to sail but Danni does get quite sea sick (even just ferries sometimes). That’s the dream though being able to travel via then oceans how amazing. Turkey’s also high on our list to visit, really is where the west meets the east!

Be careful with pallet wood, only because they are used in storage containers back and forth overseas and very often have chemical traces or spillage on them. Just would hate you to breathe anything like that into your lungs...I know it seems like a steal at the time ' free wood' but I'd stick to random branches or just pick some up, your health is your wealth , great vlog, you two make me giggle with your banter 😊

Hi Joe and Danni , I have 550 mm on my back fuse up with two titanium rods, so I cannot bend over only using my hips. I can’t move my whole trunk. So Joe , you should be grateful that the least you got a back to worry about.

If my memory serves me correctly, this is the first time you have been full-time cruising during January, and the London metro canal congestion, as well as Joe's back being out of commission are making life "interesting" shall we say? Thanks Bill! Yeah I think you’re right we’ve usually been in a marina this time of year. It’s been an experience for sure - it’s been difficult navigating around the stoppages for repairs to locks etc so we’re currently stuck below one that opens up in a few days, then we’ll have a few miles to play with before the next swing bridge isn’t opening until March!

make sure the cabbage is under the brine. can make more brine to cover, also weight it down any exposed cabbage will go moldy and will cause bad bacteria to thrive.

You probably know, but going up stream, whatever side you end up in in the lock, open the opposite paddle first, it forces the boat to one side. Also, please get a nice pair of work boats, no more (French man in sandals........Philip phlop) and no more trendy trainers. Work boats are cheap and last for years, save the trendy trainers for trendy pubs.

I will bet dollars against dog c--p that all of the recycling is put in a pit. Here in the states I worked on garbage pits putting the water catchment and the liners. Yes they separated it into big square bundles only to stack it in the pits to cover with clay. You can not recover the costs to ship to user points so it is all slight of hand. If you believe you shall see no evil. It is not cost effective for companies to use it if there is shipping involved. Good for you for trying to make things better.

I am disabled and what I do is add a extra bit of rope on the pull cord and a stick or pole though one end and then the other end tie on just below the black haddle then pull as normal not to long

Hay first I really need to say sorry I've been watching you all this time and just noticed I wasn't subscribed 😢 , I don't know if this idea will help we used to live in an coast guard cottage and for the windows we made a double glazing frame with wood frames and plastic sheets to which we srcewed to the window frame or use Velcro made a nice double glazing and of course a very cheap way of keeping it warmer see you in the next one paul😅

Although I’ve heard that damp cold is worse than the dry cold here in south western Canada, maybe you’ll feel a bit better about your temp there knowing that we just got through a week of temps between -45 - -51 C. It was cold! We plugged vehicles in so they’d start. Life still goes on, but we don’t spend much time outdoors when it’s that cold. Stay warm you two!

Great to watch again. I have a knee that at some point needs replacing. We too, live on a boat and I have got some purextracts lavender oil which I rub into my poorly knee and I have to say seems to work at alleviating the pain. Just a thought thinking about your painful back . Hopefully you're both good. Safe journey travels.

Can you not get to the bolt on top of the pull cord on the generator and use a cordless drill to start it rather than pulling the cord.

Yeah you could always ask although generally there will be a reason like medical or breakdown to be honest, most people wouldn’t want to be in everyone’s way

Great to watch you on a Sunday night👍 but 15 limes for a pound sounds like buying that fantastic thing (that you don’t actually want or need) on Black Friday just because it’s such a bargain.

It’s just a warm air heater like you get in lorries like a cab heater. Some do make one that does your hot water too but they’re around 3 x the price!

No worries at all! We always debate even bothering replying to comments like this. Do you watch TV? Listen to radio? Believe it or not but those really aren’t dissimilar jobs from what we do here. We’re just on a much smaller scale. Believe it or not but the revenue we generate through adverts is equal to one full time income. The other half comes from Danni’s work as a mental health nurse which I’m sure we mention every other video. So yes we do have jobs & we’ve been doing this for nearly three years now! 🙂
