What is the E-4 Mafia
On the road to 5000 SUBSCRIBERS!!
!!PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!!
Over the course of 28 years of Army service, I held many ranks from Private to Major. One of my favorites was the rank of Specialist E-4 where I learned all the ins and outs of the E-4 Mafia. They exist in every branch of the military and represent one of the great leadership challenges of Non-Commissioned Officers, Commanders and and important part of the solution spectrum. I hope you enjoy the video.

Yeah that cracked me up.
this is a 100% true story. During Operation Desert Shield. my troop had a single water buffalo. I noticed a medical unit a few clicks away had five. I grabbed my crew and Bradley. we drove over to the medical unit hook a water buffalo up to the tow hitch drove back to our platoon area. I repainted the bumper numbers and called it a day. the next morning, Top starts asking where our new equipment came from. I made a big show of looking at the bumper number and said it looks like it's the trailer to my Brad. Top looks me in the eye and said we had to share with second plt. then made sure it got filled every day. you missed one thing. the e4 mafia moto don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to. That's what the moto would be if the e4 mafia was real anyways, but it definitely isn't.

Thanks for the Desert Shield water buffalo acquisition story - good times! - Mad respect!
As a former E-4 “Specialist Fourth Class” from the Cold War Era, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of such an organization within the US Military……. I have no idea what this Major is talking about…… 😏

Really appreciate an in-depth and experienced look at such a mythical and shadowy organization. Can't wait to see you cover other aspects of the military that may not be regularly discussed or discussed at the depth that some would prefer. Loved the video!

I escaped both Army active duty and a couple years Reserves with my sham shield. Was on night shift monitoring the network on my Active Duty deployment. Watched a lot of anime, ate pizza, and nobody was tracking if I did PT! Lol. Reserve deployment: ended up going with a unit from another state to Iraq, so nobody really cared what I was up to. They put me on convoy recovery for a while after giving our work repairing NVGs to the contractors, so that was just chilling in my bunk listening for if we were gonna go out. Then they took me off Recovery Team w/o telling me anything else to do, so I had a couple more weeks of chilling unsupervised before they put me on gate guard. Played the heck out of my PS2 xD

Keep it coming Sir Shamalot. I was a Full Bird Private. However, after 2 yrs. I gave in and went to The NCO Board, then NCO Acadamy. It was time to decide to re-up for Sgt. or make my recent decision to get married in my choices. Once again i made the wrong choice. I have succeeded in civilian world, but always had the Hunger. Lesson learned too late. Only my civilian success has made me feel almost comfortable. Something can never regain.

In the USMC it’s a little different. Marine Corps E-4 is a NCO or corporal. When I was in you didn’t advance in rank as fast as in the Army. We had the Lance Corporal Underground. The ‘senior’ Lance Corporal is the most cunning of all Marines. They know every hiding place and when to relocate. If they’d put half as much effort into doing work as they do avoiding it, they may have been promoted by now… They’re getting out and everyone knows it If you demand his respect without earning it, he’ll tell you to climb up his ribbon stack and get it. He either has a job lined up or an acceptance letter to higher education. They’re immune to the threat of an NJP because you can’t stop time. Sooner or later, we all get a DD-214.

I enjoyed my time as an E-4. Now on to the next rank for me... OCS and second lieutenant.

@@CliffWagner much appreciated. I've learned so much from enlisted.
I was the Caporegime of the E4 Mafia Ft. Knox MP Company crime family from 90-95. Joined up in 87 did my first stretch in Schweinfurt Germany from 88-90 with the 981st MP Co. Loved being an MP and loved even more being an E4. I watched the bullshit the NCO’s had to endure and decided early on that I didn’t want any part of it. Seen an E5 get a bad NCOER because one of his soldiers went home on leave and got a DUI and somehow this E5 was responsible for that. Also the points for MP’s to get promoted to E5 were astronomically high like in the 950 range and rarely dropped. I literally saw E4’s go through all the bullshit to become promotable and never make 5 because of the points and they wound up ETS’ing. But mainly I had zero desire to be responsible for shit I had zero control over. That was the deal breaker for me. Fuck that! Yessir 8 years of being a full bird private, command private major! So to all my made members of the E4 mafia I say to you all, SALUT! 🍻🏴☠️💪🏼

Reforger 1990, MP squad providing overwatch and security on a Lance missile battalion and we lost coms for the next site. 7 minute deactivation window for every fire mission (as I recall). Squad Leader looks at me and says holy **** what do we do. I replied relax, I got this. Drove into the nearest town made a call on an unsecured phone booth (German line) got coords and met the air def battalion at the right spot. That's all I'll say, Squad Leader got an ARCOM out of that exercise and SSG Gibbs let me have every bullsh*t detail off the rest of my time in country.

4:15 off the books 4 day. retired E-4 mafia 11C with double oak leaf clusters.😎1993 at NTC we got loaded up on deuce and a halves for hands across the desert. An NCO came and said they needed 2 volunteers. Nobody raised their hand. They threatened to start picking people. I said fuck and raised my hand, with somebody else. They said get off the truck, they have too many. Go sham. Got some hate for that. 🤬1995 at FT Hood, we were going back to NTC, our E-6's HMMWV NEEDED doors before putting it on the rail car. In the motorpool I got the vinyl doors off the only one that would and could replce with no problem. Our Lt Col's had brand new ones. get doors, got doors.🤣We got a new E-7, who just came from supply, so we got lots of extra stuff, socks, MREs, vehicle camo, and my favorite a parachute in our Cav unit. Still shamming.😎 Thanks for the Delta comparison, awesome. My dad, 6 years in the Navy as a F-4 mechanic stayed the same rank E-0, was partners with Ron Franklin of Delta.

As a commissioned officer you are completely unqualified to explain this subject. You should have referred to a specialist on the matter.

That period of my military service record no longer exists or has been so heavily redacted as to render it unreadable. Sufficeth to say that I was successful enough that no evidence of my activities or contributions to the organization that we both attest does not exist - never existed. Thanks!
