Steve what I do is hang my wing/bcd on the hanger off the tree in my garden. I spray low pressure water all over it with my garden hose. Then, dilute some scented Dettol with water in a spray bottle. Spray the bcd (& yes dry suit, wet suit, smb, gloves, boots, etc) Leave for 10 minutes or so then thoroughly rinse off with the hose. I also spray inside the bcd with inflator hose off & rinse out. The process kills bacteria as well as leaving all my dive gear smelling fresh. Been doing for many years & keeps all my gear looked after. Stops wet boots from stinking. Gear then hung in the shed to drip dry, then inside to air dry & small items go in the cylinder cupboard.

I have a ritual which doesn't require a virgin or a sacrificial animal. All my hardware goes into my laundry tub as soon as I get home full of fresh water (like 50 litres of good clean water) - leave it soak while I enjoy a coffee, then my wetsuit, BCD, gloves, SMB, reel, boots get hung on my clothes line - which then gets a bonus spray with my high pressure garden hose. Wettie and boots get a metric shit tonne of water to the zips. BCD gets put on a hanger and connected to my home made inflator-cleaner (an old BCD power inflator with a garden hose attachment home made). Drop 2 litres of clean water into BCD, slosh around and exit through a dump valve, repeat the process for EVERY valve on the BCD. Reinflate BCD to 70% full of air, rinse with fresh water again and allow to air dry - drain BCD and re-inflate to 70% and store on a hangar inflated. Wetsuit gets fully sun dried and recheck zips - candle wax as required - ditto boots. Masks go back into cases, torches get tested, SMB gets stowed and a Peanut Slab goes back into the drybag. My first BCD lasted over 20 years, my current boots are 15 years old and my LDS has begged me NOT to bring in my old regs for another service as they can no longer get parts for the 1st stage. Look after your gear properly and it will look after you.

What do you think about the Garden Hose to LPI Adapter? I see some sold at shops.

Yeah, they're a good way to flush water through the valve with minimal fuss. You can get the same effect by filling your BCD with water and then draining it through the inflate valve by pressing the inflate button. I find it just as easy to remove a dump valve or fill through the oral inflate.

@@ScubaDiverMagazine I used my New BCD at a Lake Cleanup. When I arrived home and started rinsing, I noticed the LPI Hose came loose at the BCD. Why I try not to mess with the plastic nuts.

I did not know you could unscrew that valve. I wonder what comes out of the BCD with the next cleaning ;-)

I bought the hose extension that hooks up to the inflator. After cleaning, I spray some food quality silicon on the inflator hose, hook it up, quick pressure and it covers the valve inside and up to the top of inflator hose

It is a Gear Gulper, so quite big, but I only put five or six inches of water in the bottom, I don't fill it up. Approx size is: L 710mm x W 46mm x D 380mm

Leaving something to dry outside in the UK? Good luck with that. It rains every 5 minutes.

Nah, let me check out the window... Ok, the bathroom is a good alternative. I bought some strong suction cups that you can hang a line from stuck to bathroom tiles.
