I love how Alan goes from a really specific topic like Panel Beating to the broadest possible topic of "what is the best thing" in his desperate pursuit of popularity, such a well written character.

Ever since watching the show in the late 90s on Rte2 and getting the Partridge bug I was waiting to watch a full radio show, just like the intros and exit bits of the show. Sure we had original KMKYWAP(sounds like a moist towelette) but MMM is probably peak Partridge, right up there with the Xmas special, the French episode, the farmers episode etc. Absolutely back of the net! Baby Cow, whoever is running this channel pour yourself a nice big fat shot of Directors Bitter, crack open a mini Babybel and pop on some OMD and know you are so ruddy bloody brave!

A lot of Partridge stuff is very similar to Tommy Boyd's radio show on Talk Radio in the 90s. This is very similar to "The Wonderful Hour." Another Partridge topic that I'm sure was covered by Tommy Boyd: "What happens if you just eat crisps?" The arguing very aggressively with guests is also reminiscent of James Whale, who claimed to have given Coogan his "big break." I wonder how the dynamic between Alan and Simon relates to that.

Alan should have made the point that the phrase “the best thing since sliced bread” is only used in the context of a thing which is thought to be tip-top and bloody marvellous to boot. So if you say something is the “best thing since sliced bread” there will be a thing that is the best thing. For example, tea bags or penicillin.
