Lupus, or systemic lupus erythematosus, is a disease of chronic inflammation that can affect any part of your body, including the joints, the skin, the hair, the heart, the brain, and the kidneys. Lupus is an autoimmune disease, which means that instead of your immune system fighting the germs, the bacteria, the viruses of the outside world, your immune system turns against you and begins to attack your own organs. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder.
How do you get lupus? The precise cause of lupus is not known, but we do know that it's a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. If you have lupus, then it is likely that you have a relative with lupus. The award-winning singer, Lady Gaga, has tested positive for lupus, and she has shared that she had an aunt who died of lupus. 1.5 million Americans have lupus, and lupus is more common among blacks, Hispanics, and Asians than in Caucasians. Lupus is also more common among women than in men, and it is usually diagnosed between the ages of 15 and 44. That being said, if you are a man, you still could have the diagnosis of lupus. In fact, the actor, comedian, and producer, Nick Cannon, has shared that he is living with lupus.
What are the symptoms of lupus? Now, this is a tricky question. Since lupus can literally affect any part of the body, the symptoms can be vast and nonspecific. Lupus can literally cause pain, inflammation, swelling, and damage to any organ system. Symptoms can be mild or they can be severe and life-threatening. Symptoms can wax and wane. They can come and go.
Lupus can cause a lupus-induced kidney disease or lupus nephritis. Lupus nephritis actually accounts for a large amount of the young black and Hispanic female patients I see in my practice with kidney disease. When lupus attacks the kidneys, it affects that filtering system, because the kidneys are responsible for filtering out your body's excess water, excess wastes, excess toxins, so when lupus causes an inflammation in this system, you get a leakage of protein or blood in the urine. Lupus can ultimately cause a scarring of the kidney, which can lead to kidney failure and the need for dialysis or transplant. The actress and singer, Selena Gomez, has shared that she has lupus nephritis. Selena has now had a kidney transplant.
Lupus skin rash. Most patients will experience skin changes due to lupus during the course of the disease. The butterfly rash or the malar rash is the most common skin change. It occurs when there is a reddish rash on the cheeks and on the nose of patients, which usually occurs after sun exposure. Discoid lesions can also happen on the skin in lupus. The discoid rash consists of circular raised patchy-like lesions which tend to cause scarring. The rapper and producer Trick Daddy has shared that he has discoid lupus. Patients with lupus can also experience a light sensitivity. When they are exposed to sun or UVA and UVB radiation, they tend to break out in a rash, and fair skinned patients are more likely to have a more severe reaction than darker skinned patients.
How can you find out if you have lupus? How can you be diagnosed with lupus? If you have any of the symptoms that I described, especially the joint and the skin symptoms, then it is possible that you could have lupus, especially if you have a family history. In order to be diagnosed, you need to see your physician.
This ends my overview of lupus. I hope it was helpful. If so, please like my video. Please share my video. Please hit that subscribe button. As always, I want you to strive to live your healthiest, happiest life. This video explains lupus signs, symptoms and treatment.

I’m here because my good friend and coworker got diagnosed today. I’ve watched her fight to find out what is wrong with her. I’ve watched her deteriorate right before my eyes over the last year and a half. I’ve watched it destroy her mental health. I watched our boss gaslight her that she’s fine. I’ve watched our boss treat her like she was lying or faking symptoms. I feel so bad for her. I’m going to do everything I can to help and learn everything I can about this.

Please tell your friend - she is not alone. There will be days when she wants to give up, and allow the disease to win. Sometimes, those "days" will turn into weeks or even Months where all she actually wants is to live just ONE DAY that is not painful simply to exist. There will be days that she lays in bed, biting back tears of agony just at having something touch her skin. Finding the energy just to get up and shuffle to the bathroom for that first early morning wee is going to tax her to the point where she wonders if its still worth it. If she was active outside, she's going to lose all of the hobbies she had associated with being out of doors - or she's going to end up (much like myself) subsidizing the companies that manufacture high SPF sunscreen. She will go through a rather lengthy grieving process as she mourns the loss of mobility, functionality, good health and all the things that are associated with having it. She will lose a lot of friends because she can no longer go and do some things without thinking about what she's not going to be able to do if she goes out with those friends. She will lose friends because they simply don't understand that she hasn't become antisocial, and she's not blowing them off or making excuses. Be there for her. Listen, without judgement. Hear what she says, without offering Suggestions to "make it better" or asking "have you tried.... (fill in the blank)." Accept what time she allots to your friendship with gratitude that she made a Conscious Choice to spend time with You, rather than using that energy on something else, equally as important, like taking a shower or cleaning the house. Just be there.

My friend was diagnosed at the age of ten with lupus . At that time she was the youngest person ever diagnosed . They wrote about her in books . This was 33 years ago . She passed in 2006 . She would have been 43 today . I miss her a lot and wish she was here . She was a fighter and she fought a long hard battle . I will never forget her . Lupus sucks . I have lupus and your video was a great overview of Lupus. You may want to add that lupus patients often feel misunderstood and at times poorly treated by the medical world. Sometimes the lab work is not conclusive and the symptoms can be all over the place. It took me years to get the right diagnosis and I am a physician! For all lupus patients: be kind to yourselves, know that modern medicine does not have a cure so you have to learn to manage....sometimes that means just getting by. But you can educate others and you can stand up for yourself. Frequent reminders to your doctors and nurses are sometimes needed...they will listen and help but you have to let them know that you need help and that you expect help. A better life awaits as long as you are persistent.

Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I've seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people's lives. I wonder why people still spend their money on surgery, injections and drugs each time they are sick. Natural herbs can cure all kinds of illness including herpes, diabetics, asthma, Cancer, hepatitis, etc. I've seen it with my own eyes. I was cured of Irritable bowel syndrome and my Sister and her Husband were cured of herpes by dr Osemuahu who uses natural herbs to cure different kind of illness. Even Dr. Osemuahu proved to the whole world that natural herbs can cure all diseases and he cured countless of people using natural herbs. I know is hard to believe but am a living testimony. This is the account owner's daughter typing... I feel like I was given so many answers today. I just tested positive for ANA and Double-strand positive, I have had joint and muscle pain almost my whole life with no explanation, and am now 17 almost 18 and am finally getting some answers for all of this. I have the butterfly rash on my nose, cheeks, and forehead, no matter how much sunscreen I put on my face. It's never enough. I am constantly bodily exhausted no matter how good of sleep I get. I want to help my mother around the house more and I feel so bad when my joints hurt too much or I'm just so tired that I don't want to get up and do some simple dishes or clean. There is no harm in trying herbs. Contact Dr Osemuahu(email). dr.o.osemuahu@gmail.com WhatsApp: +2349050925421 Come and thank me later ✌️✌️

They gave me step by step instructions on how to apply it, when I applied it according to the instructions I was totally cured of this deadly disease within 5 months of use, I am now CANCER free, all thanks to Dr. PETER You can also contact this great herbalist for help by email: peteroare0@gmail.com or contact Dr. PETER through his whatsapp number: +2348161615389 He is also specialize in treating all kinds of diseases, VIRUS HERPES , HEPATITIS B, CANCER, BRAIN DISEASE, INFERTILITY, DIABETES EPILEPSY LUPUS AND MORE ...... The best explanation of LUPUS I've heard so far! It's been over a 5 year search for answers to my health issues, I was diagnosed with LUPUS this past March! After 2 major flares they retested me recently and my results were not good ! So I finally decided to start Plaquenil 2 weeks ago! Lupus sucks 😪 UPDATE Plaquenil has not been my answer, after 8 weeks! It's has brought my immune system so low, I've caught everything and can't get well! I've been so sick... 3 Urgent Care visits and now on my 3rd round of antibiotics and now steroids! I've had other side effects as well! I went off of it 2 weeks ago and still struggling to recover! Never AGAIN 😭

Thankyou for this explanation, I have been having symptoms for many years and flair ups. My Grandmother had this disease in 1950 as a matter of fact in New York they were studying her because they didn't know much about this disease. Being hispanic and a woman there are many who do not know what is happening to them. I just had another blood test (DRVVT) and my results(LAI) were 58.00 (La2) 47.20 (LAI/LA2)1.23 indicating that lupus is present. Incredibly I am happy to at least get some indication that i am not making up my symptoms, some days( lately fewer) i feel ok, and now at least maybe there can be something i can do to help with my constant pain.

It took 20 years to get a diagnosis of what makes me feel so sick most of the time. I saw two rheumatologists to confirm it.was lupus (SLE). Then I moved to a new area and a new rheumatologist 20 years ago and he said I had a parathyroid tumor which was the real cause of my illness. That was removed at UC San Francisco and I definitely felt better for a year. Then all the symptoms I've come to know as SLE returned. Back to the rheumatologist and he diagnosed Fibromyalgia and told me there's no treatment for it. He said if I had SLE it's in remission and he said he found no marker for it. Meanwhile, I have all sorts of pain and inflammation and can't walk more than a few feet with a walker. Frustrating!!! I will probably die not knowing what made me live such a tired and painful existence.

Earlier Last year I was diagnosed with CANCER in 2019 and I have tried everything I could to heal myself, but it was all to no avail, until I saw a post on a health forum about a herbalist preparing herbal medicines to cure everything type of diseases. including CANCER, at first I doubted it was real, but decided to give it a try, when I contacted this herbalist through his email and he prepared me a herbal cure for CANCER and sent it to me via the delivery service of UPS from the company, when I received this herbal cure. Thank you Dr. Frita! My daughter is 8 years old. As soon as she turned 8, she started suffering from joint pain and fever, some ulcers in her mouth but it went away, nose infection. But the joint pain started going very hard on her, to the point I have to help her to shower, loosing her hair and red patches that look like butterfly and because covi19 her appointments are through zoom. I want her to be seen. Finally, yesterday she has blood work done. Hopefully, she will get the right diagnosis.

I was just diagnosed with lupis. I usually don't get sick or anything but I have been having body ache for the longest and it seemed to be getting worse. My brush pulls my hair from the scalp, not much to scream though. I wanted to believe I was being lazy but Knowing myself I knew something was wrong. My husband kinda freaked out today. But we are lucky to have each other because he has always helped me home so nothing is a burden.

What a great explanation and very easy to understand. I have had numerous symptoms you explained in this video. I have been seen in the E.R and have had visits with my primary doctor and trying to link my symptoms to a autoimmune as there are many different types. Symptoms Joint pain, s.o.b,memory confusion, hair loss, both hands wrist finger pain, headaches, extreme extreme fatigue, bumps under skin, rash on face, chest pain (uncomfortable feeling) nausea, blurred vision on one eye. I am 38 yr old. Crp was elevated as well twice.
