Hi Professor, I'm a 1st year student of Political Science. I had just finished reading Book 1 on my own literally a few minutes ago, and I look forward to getting more information and insights from you with the aid of this video. Thank you in advance as I am sure this will be of great help to me.

Hello Nate Are you indoctrinated yet? Feeling any Marxist ideas popping up in your head?

@@MausOfTheHouse Hi Maus. I have to say, you are correct as to how indoctrination - discreet or indiscreet depending on some professors' approach to teaching - poses a threat to free-thinking, especially with regards to my field of study. I have firsthand experience about how some of my university friends got utterly swayed towards an ideology more than I would have both hoped and liked them to be, and that is in no small part due to the way such information was presented to them. As for myself, do not worry; for my convictions and my temperance, hand-in-hand, prevent any such attempt to indoctrinate me with beliefs that go against them, to be successful. To answer your question regarding me and Marxism: I am opposed to it in general, but a good dialectician, in the words of Reeve, does not simply dismiss any ideas that are against that of his own, but rather entertains both and attempts to pick out the best qualities of each; thus coming up with an idea anew which is more refined - having the exemplary characteristics of the two opposites. Having said that, I hope I have made it clear that I am not, nor will I ever, be indoctrinated in the way you seem to worry about. Regards, my friend.

@@natecalhoun4427 I do not possess the English skills to describe my happiness in full. I could probably write a whole essay to you if I had the time but I am at school right now :/

@@MausOfTheHouse That is quite alright. Knowing you were pleased to hear what I had to say is enough a message to convey whatever it is you could have written in an essay, my friend. Best of luck to you with your studies, Maus.
The beauty so far of Anadale’s overview of ‘the republic’ is that is is not , repeat , not an elevator pitch. There are other overviews of the book, but I would say you cannot give an honest assessment of such a book in a 5 minute animated video.
thanks for the help!

Good Morning Professor.....I love your insight and help with the Republic but as I was going thru the series, I noticed that there was no Book 5 summary....just wanted to know if there was a book 5 summary on the Republic that you hadn't uploaded yet. Thanks for your hard work on this

I have not done a Book 5 video. Maybe in the future though. Glad you like the series!
Would you be willing to briefly critique my interpretation of one of Socrates' rebuttals to Polemarchus?

@Oskar Tegby there are many points in the Republic, one of them is funny. If you say it is nothing funny about this then you definitely missed at least one point smartass

Omg! What school do you go to? Lol
It seems like Justice is a euphemism for morality.
To paraphrase , karl popper, Is it just, or justice, to be intolerant of the intolerant. I think so.
