Just finished the new course and it is AMAZING! You break everything down systematically and it makes so much sense. Definitely the best instructional I ever bought. (And I’ve bought alot). Super beneficial if your a white belt or blue or even purple belt. I’m rewatching it over and over until it becomes second nature. Nice work man!

@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu For sure man! A lot of schools and instructionals make the assumption you will either pick this stuff up or you already know it. But no one is actually teaching it! You are filling a big gap with this for a lot of people.

@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Finally someone who closes the gaps between theory and practical examples. This teaching approach you're delivering was missing for years, a lot of people learn faster by understanding the theory behing the movements (like me). Is this similar to what you offer in your course? The production level of this is amazing. It's like taking a college class on BJJ, rather than just watching some coach show a move. Quick edit: I just have to say that this is a really high quality production. I love that you cut between positions and camera angles, so it's faster for us viewers. I mean there are many great BJJ coaches that make instructionals, but the time spent talking about the meaning of a japanese word and the context of 1000 samurai warriors and some obscure facts, and changing watching the coach move about on their butt as they change position to offer a different angle, is just a waste of time. Jordan, awesome that you really utilize the video media, and don't just treat the camera as a student. This really seperates you from the rest of the BJJ KZreadrs. Plus the stuff you teach is also of high quality. Not naming names, but some of the highest regarded coaches in the industry could really learn from you. Short, concise, high production and high quality content. Damn.

Curious to hear you expand on underhook versus overhook games and the pros and cons of each vis-a-vis inside position. I know some pretty mean rubber guard players who are happy to give you the "inside" to work their overhook game. Granted, I think the principles you are explaining here still apply there as they are definitely controlling the space you're talking about when they do that and managing hips to avoid the tight passing. Thank you!

Overhooks are inside position but less than an underhook. Doesn't mean they're necessarily worse though. Overhooks are easier to get. I often give up underhooks from guard because I'll happily take an Overhook.

Nice Jordan! The concept of inside position is fundamental to my system and it gets interesting when you are on a shot or bodylock. For example when you stepped to that side bodylock off your inside control, he actually has inside hip position. So even though you are under his arms with the bodylock (inside) he has inside hip position, which is extraordinary powerful. So, although I generally teach my guys that underhooks are preferred to overhooks, if they end up in a side bodylock with the overhook, they know how to use their hips (which are inside) against him. I hope we do get a chance to meet this summer, because this is exactly the system I would like to teach to you. You are young and still very capable of then taking that knowledge very far with your own students and to the masses. People in BJJ will benefit greatly from what we use in Greco, Freestyle, and Collegiate. The systems are directly applicable to BJJ. I use them all the time.

The course is great! I’m working through it slowly, but really enjoying it. I’ve always found your way of teaching to be so easy to understand. I hope I could come up to Canada and train at Limitless someday!

Love the principled approach. I came back to BJJ after 40, and I'm now a 1 stripe Blue belt and it is the concepts and principles like this that have improved my game recently. Like you said the techniques are good, but it is the principles like this mean I can find it easier to relax and focus on the principle when rolling. Great vid.

Really enjoy your theory explanations on why/how to do techniques. I come from a technical background for trouble shooting components and if I understand what something is supposed to do then I can figure out why its no longer doing it. So, with your explanations I can use theory to prevent advancements instead of trying to remember techniques.

This kind of content is awesome. As a six month white belt, I've started trying to focus more on fundamentals and basic concepts rather than techniques. It just doesn't seem worth it to focus on "trying moves" when I don't have a good understanding of these basic concepts. Thanks a lot for putting this together.

The "why" is so important and I will take more from this one video than most technique classes. When I'm moving I can't memorize every single grip because it's a 3D game, but just thinking at each pause am I inside or outside will help really help me. Thanks Jordan!

Great video. I'll definitely point people towards this one if I need them to understand inside position. I remember one of my first huge lightbulb moments was when our head coach just said "keep inside position" to me. Blew my mind how powerful that concept is.

Nicely done, Jordan. One of the things I always drill into my students is that the space between their armpits and knees is sacred. Don't let anyone control that space. 👊

I haven't watched much of his stuff but I do 100% agree with that. It's included in the theory course. Layers of defence like I spoke about at the end also apply to on the mat. You can't let people put their feet or knees on the mat because they will use them to stand up.

I just bought the course and started watching it. It's great, worth every penny! I'm 33yo, female, very new to bjj, only 5 classes in and I have never done any contact sports before. I find the content super useful, it all makes so much sense now! I imagine it would take me years of practice to get the understanding of the theory presented in the course. If I was a coach, I'd recommend this course to all the beginners!
