As a fellow mennonite, I agree completely with the mentality that we put the head covering too high. I feel very convicted to wear a visible head covering, but it does not get me a free card into heaven. We need a personal relationship with the Lord❤

Think of headcovering as a crown for a daughter of the King of the Universe, a physical symbol of a spiritual protection. The headcovering is also an accountability tool, just like my beard (Leviticus 19:27) and the tassels of Numbers 15:38-40 and Deuteronomy 22:12. The tassels/tzitzyot were life changing for me in taking thoughts captive better. Headcovering is also about reclaiming lady hood in this Jezebel culture.

@@mamamode1312 absolutely, headcovering and modesty are very powerful tools to resisting the pull of the world. When I wear my tunic (down to my ankles I hate pants) and tallit I feel more spiritually aware of what’s around me. Embracing tassels was life changing for me in taking thoughts captive better, a reminder of the need for a covenant lifestyle.

YES!!! 👍 When I began covering my head it was just a simple conviction that I felt strongly to obey after reading 1 Corinthians 11 one morning. I thought it would be a simple change in my life. I thought it would simply tell others whom I love, submit to, and serve in an outward way. I had NO clue that this simple obedience would completely change my heart, my home, and the trajectory of my life! Once I showed God that I would cast off my pride and my vanity to obey Him, He opened the flood gates of spiritual blessings. He has given me opportunities to discover my gifts and to use them to serve Him and others in ways I could not have even imagined before. My marriage is 1000x stronger, my husband has risen to the challenge in such a beautiful way, and my children are falling into place right behind us. Small obedience can spell big blessings. Now I know that nothing is too small or insignificant for God to use. Thank you so much for sharing this message with us women!! This world desperately needs more women of conviction and faith. Love you Sister! You are salt & light! ❤

I have never understood why, in the mennonite faith, you cover your head at all times. When you explained that the bible directs you to pray without ceasing, and it does, then you believe that you should have your head covered at all times. Now I understand why you do this and it makes total sense. In our church our practice is to cover you head during worship service. We don't cover our heads for our mid-week bible study meeting because it is not worship service. You do a great job explaining things where everyone can understand this very complicated subject. When you explain submission in the husband/wife relationship it is so beautiful. After 52 years of being blessed to have a god filled marriage listening to you makes me cry. My husband has been such a devoted husband and father. It doesn't bother me at all to say "whatever you think is best". I find myself constantly saying "what should I do in this or that situation". My greatest joy is telling someone what a wonderful husband I have and what a wonderful father he has been. I just love you more when you present a video to us like this one.

I loved your long speech! I see the headcovering as necessary for public worship so I don’t cover my head everyday; however I really respect those that cover all the time. I agree with everything you said so well, but I would add that for those women that have difficult husbands and for all us wives when it’s hard to be submissive that little phrase Eph 5:22 “...as unto the Lord”, is so very helpful! Not my will but His be done, to please my Lord who submitted to so much to save His people. God bless you and your little family.

I love your channel and as a Christian woman, I appreciate that the Word of God leads us so specifically, lovingly, into who we are to Him as our Father, and as wives to our husbands/husbands to their wives. Wow that was so wonderful, I started feeling I should wear a head covering when at church and when praying for the last few months, as a new Christian it’s like a mine field out there with so many opinions and interpretations and in the uk woman don’t seam to wear head coverings as much. So I found this very helpful. You made it simple to follow and understand which is a blessing as some make thing so confusing. I’m still trying to find a head covering that will stay put when I’m moving around a lot as they don’t like to stay put on my head. Thank you so much for sharing this. Glory to God 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you so much for the time and effort that you put into this video. I have been a believer for over 33 years and I agree with everything you said about the role of women in a Christian marriage. I believe it not just because the Bible teaches it, but also because I have lived long enough to see how following God's order blesses me and those I love. I have pondered, prayed, and studied the concept of head-covering, but I have never came to the same conclusion, and so I don't cover my head. But, as you said, it's not a requirement for salvation.

Thank you for the breakdown and explanations. As a Catholic, I grew up dressing up for church including wearing hats, headdress. It was only for one day but it was something special. I have some beautiful photos of my Mom and I. After looking at those photos, I wonder why that changed. Among other changes in society. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to delve into this topic. God bless you and your family.

My husband, a former Mennonite pastor, says that if a husband lives and follows God’s word and treats his wife as he should, his wife will not have a problem submitting, however, there should be mutual submission. Yes! So glad for this voice of truth in the dark mixed up world we are in. And it has also bothered me how quick our Mennonite culture is to judge a non covering woman as not living right. I am saddened when the practice is dropped. By God's grace I want to teach my daughters the why and what's behind it, but NOT the idea that the practice is almost your salvation. You did a great job on this Jeanine!

When you announced the other day I was excited to see this video, although with the very busy weekend it took me a long time of snippets here and there to watch the full thing. I even took notes on what to write down, so I could get my thoughts out, but I am condensing them WAY down so as not to draaaaaaag things out. I LOVE your attitude concerning people watching you. I have often thought that if people just could understand that they don't actually HAVE to be a slave to the internet they could live a much freer life. We do not own a television and so, any kind of news or important happening we have to get from email or news online. I would get so caught up in it. Until recently, when I decided enough is enough. Guess what, I catch the headlines and if any HUGE happening were to occur, someone would get ahold of us. I haven't missed the internet one iota. I had many things to write down about agreeing with you or possibly saying things a different way, but I think that's overkill. I think what I want to talk about most is the underlying theme of your message. Where is God when it comes to the throne of your heart. Is He on the throne or do you still maintain residence? When it comes down to it our obedience to God is the key. Please understand I don't mean obedience because you HAVE to, I mean obedience because you WANT to. It all comes down to the matter of the heart. God calls us to stay away from sin, He does so because Jesus came down to be that sin-offering and we can live above it. I know people will disagree with me, and that's fine; however, I believe the Bible when it tells us in both the OT and the NT to be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. Thank you very much for your perspective and for putting this out there for people to hear.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I loved this. Very beautifully put. Your gentleness shines through. I felt called to cover a few years ago and have found so much joy, peace and comfor in it. And I feel way less attacked by the enemy. My mind is way more calm and at peace since covering. I'm assuming it has to do with the section about our covered heads being a symbol of us being under authority to angles in 1 Cor 11:10? Covering has really helped me to humble myself, especially in a world of looks and outward appearances meaning so much, which sadly is even in the church. We are called to be set apart, different, unusual, spotless, and blamelesss, not look and act like the world around us. I was called out publicly for it in church from the pulpit which was so embarrassing, but I didn't let it get to me too much becuase people have been taught differently. And yes, when God called me to cover, I struggled with the feminismic attitude of not wanting to humble myself under my husband. I grew up in the church and had never known anyone to cover and never heard teaching on it, so I can see how people simply don't understand it. Yes I agree, in my research I studied 1 Cor 11 for months and months. Especailly looking into the meanings in Greek. The word for covering in 1 Corthians 11:4, 5,6,7, 13, is the word, katakalýptō, from katá, "down, and kalýptō, "to cover"-cover down, to make appropriate (complete), i.e. to wear a veil. It is the same root word used for the veil that separated the Holy of holies from the priests. It is clearly taking about a peice of fabric.(Matt 27:51) The same word is used in 2 Cor 3:13. "not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end." But vrs 15 does NOT use the same word for covering. Vrs 15. "but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering." This is a different word for "cover"= "peribolaion," that which is thrown around or a mantel that can be thrown around (As in when a women tosses or throws her hair around, or a mantel that rest on the shoulders and drapes around the body. So hair is considered long if it goes past her shoulders to cover her body). tossing the hair can be very alluring to men. This is where we get the saying, "Let your hair down." Up until only the last generation woman covered in Church. It was only during the sexual revolution that Chriatin women in North America stopped covering their heads. ALL of our grandmothers would have covered in church. This is why the Hutterites, Mennonites, Amish, orthodox churches, and messiniac Jews (Jews who beleive in Jesus), a lot of African congratations, etc still cover their hair. Also, if hair is the covering, what does that mean for a man? Should he always have his head shaved bald? Or can he put on and take off his hair? No of course not. That makes no sense. Godly biblical submission is a good thing and a blessing, I totally agree. We are to imitate Christ, and He was submissive unto God's will, even unto death. Paul also says that the veil or covering is a symbol to who, the angels? Why, because angles can't read our hearts and minds but they can see a headcovering and it shows that we are.gollowong God's ordainer order, which Satan did not submit to. We are not supposed to be like the world. Thank you so much for sharing.

Wow I am stunned at your knowledge and, more importantly, comprehension of the Word. It’s so easy for me to just read the words on the page and not truly comprehend the true meaning/interpretation - and I think that goes back to what you said about some passages of the Bible being black & white while others are less easy to understand. Thank you so much for your personal explanation of the head covering and the wives role in life and marriage. Your video was so moving that I had to grab my notebook to take notes. Growing up in a plain mennonite community I agree it's not always taught in the right way!I used to have fear in my heart that if I don't cover my head I'm sinning and what will other people think if they see me uncovered! I'm grateful God has opened my eyes to the why behind a head covering if done in with pure heart it's a blessing! I now choose to cover with a peace and desire to submit to my husband even though we no longer attend to a mennonite church!
