I agree with you. a lot of content creators are obsessed with finding out things they hate/complain about the game. it seems it's become almost like a habit and it's really putting me off. I think they wouldn't stop until Splatoon becomes 8k/240fps with everyday content update and 100mil daily players. anyways, I just quit watching these guys all together n it feels much better since then lol

I think the problem is that there aren't a lot of good kits. So everyone just plays a select phew weapons and then they get tired of only playing the same weapon.

I can understand adding new main weapons post release, but when it comes to subs and specials, they probably should've just stuck with what was already available at launch. I think what went wrong was that Nintendo was hyping and marketing splatoon in the wrong way, new weapons are cool, but a weapon (whether be main/sub/special) on its own is just a tool. A tool is meaningless when there is limited access to said tool, that's where kits come in. The kits are the options; the gateway to those tools. Remember you're not just playing with a weapon, you're playing with a pre-determined set of weapons. And that's where the problem lies, there aren't enough kits to satisfy the abundance of specials, The main point is that if I were to develop and market Splatoon 4, *I would prioritize making new kits over making new weapons.* In this case, 3rd kits wouldn't just be relegated to extra content expansions that may or may not happen, they would be planned from the very start, heck I wouldn't just stop at 3rd kits, I'd try to go as far as 4, maybe even 5 kits. And if need, I might also consider cutting down the no. of subs and specials to bring to Splatoon 4. I doubt anyone would miss Tenta missiles or reefslider if they were gone.

Personally, with the amount of content currently in the game right now, I could easily play for another 700+ hours. There are still so many weapons I want to try to 4 star, badges for salmon run and PvP left to get, as well as other personal goals I am working toward (beating side order hackless with all weapons, getting a set of pure gear for each ability, ect.). Additionally, I still haven't really touched Tableturf, so I basically have a whole other game to learn with its own set of collectibles to get. On top of that, we are getting a new season soon that will add even more weapons to learn, a brand new and very cool looking map, a special big run event, plus the possibility of even more stuff that they haven't even announced yet. If you ask me, in terms of content, Splatoon 3 has it in spades.

As long time Pikmin fan, I can safely say that the splatoon community is really spoiled.

The main problem with Splatoon 3 atm is that Nintendo has been giving us less weapons throughout the past 2 years for this game, Splatoon 2 already had every single second kit added way before they were slowing down content for that game. For Splatoon 3 though, we’re just now wrapping up every single weapon’s second kit in like almost 2 years into the game?

I agree with the person in chat who said this is probably the final season but not the final update. They’ll definitely do balances and patch updates, they’ll probably add tricolor maps to private battles like they did with splatfest maps in 2, we can hope they’ll do something similar for challenges. Besides, once updates are done we’ll finally have a complete game! That’s a good thing! People aren’t going to stop playing this game at least until the next one comes out, we’ve got a good few years left. Why do we need a constant flow of new content instead of enjoying the game we have? No game is ever going to be perfect. Did I hope for more returning stages from previous games? Of course I did, and I’m a little sad that doesn’t seem to be happening. But it’s not the end of the world, and this game has more stages - and content in general - than the previous two games ever did!

Dude having opinions and a mind set similar to my own makes me feel so valid in my beliefs that doomposting and excessive pessimism is pointless and does no good and all harm.

I think that the net code, half the maps, and the majority of the kits being objectively bad really amplify the shortcomings of the game. But overall, I think that Splatoon 3 is a good game and we are not cooked (yet). Honestly it would be even better if you didn’t have to pay for the awful online or it isn’t P2P.

I wouldn't mind not getting updates if the content was better. They've had multiple opportunities to fix the maps and they haven't. Same thing with the weapon kits. Hopefully the switch 2 runs the game better. Dude is right about that being the main issue.

Honestly a pretty refreshing take. I would have really appreciated second kits though, because a lot of weapons are stuck with mediocre/bad kits now. (I'd rather just have had better kits in general, but the only way to fix it now is third kits..) Otherwise I fully agree though, the game is fine as it is even if this is the last one. Doomposting is a really annoying part of the internet.

I feel like a lot of people set up their own expectations for what they believe the game should be doing and then subsequently get upset when the game doesn't do exactly that and jump to calling everything bad and disappointing and it's the sort of outlook that really bothers me. I feel there's a difference between really examining the game and having issues (personal or otherwise) and expressing that and just being intensely negative because you're bitter its not going the way you feel it should to be "good" and most people especially on twitter express it in the negative way (like sometimes I see people call the devs stupid and incompetent for not doing certain things or making a "bad kit" or "not good enough balance", "bad stages", "not fixing everything wrong" etc)

@@guillermocervisalmeron2209The recent stages have honestly improved a lot, being fairly fun to traverse and fight on. And some of the original and early released stages aren't too terrible either. There's not really a stage in the game I could say is particularly unfun to play on except Wahoo World and that mainly has to do with the middle section being extremely unfriendly to traverse (seriously the only consistent way way through is an uninkable bridge). A lot of the 3 original stages are a lot more compact and that kinda results in people being bunched together and forced into confrontations more and this isn't inherently a bad idea, but a few number of stages are too extreme in this (Barnacle, Umami) and don't really give you many angles to break out from. Barnacle in particular has a REAL big issue with there being practically a single area in which if you anchor down in a particular position it's practically wraps for the enemy unless you really fumble and end up losing the position. But I feel like most stages aren't as bad as this, and most tend to have various ways of splitting an enemy team's attention or sneaking away I can see the vision sometimes, they want it to be more compact to create chaos and force confrontation more, and they don't always pull it off, but to say that all of them didn't is an overstatement tbh. And now I don't really have much to say about special balance, i feel like every special in the game has it's own place, even if it's supposedly "bad." If you're looking at the very top of competitive settings I feel like you'll probably be inclined to believe it sucks because a select few end up being played but that just sorta feels like the natural way competitive scenes play out. You tend to see the very good stuff being played a lot at the high level, and that's just how it goes for every game, I feel? Like Melee has top tiers, and you tend to see them played often in competitive settings. But that doesn't mean the balancing of that game is inherently bad because certain other fighters suck or can pull cheese strats. A lot of game balance tends to also have to take into account the average player. It's why you'll never see clash blaster buffed into a highly viable competitive position bc doing so would likely make it a menace to lower levels who already struggle to deal with it. Some things aren't "good" but thats okay, it doesn't need to be, and it doesn't make it's spot in a game meaningless. Idk maybe I'm just weird and don't get it. I don't seem to agree a lot of times with what people say about this game. It's fun and has it's own quirks and designs and I can't agree that it's all a failure of design like people online tend to act like it is. It's not a completely perfect game but it's feels so blown out of proportion to me to the point of being really unfair or just flat out pessimistic

@@TressaAimuuru Youre right about that was the intent but that made the maps difficult to traverse, unoriginal and a ceiling each time you want to move, the maps are totally designed around splatbomb, midlines and some high tier weapons, that is why eliter is like that here because the maps arent design by that weapon in mind (except the new one) gamemodes also are hurt by the design, theres only 2 maps with a good one mode

Whats the different around the design of reef, ink vac and booyah bomb? They are the same by the design team i dont care if you see differently because i kinda see reef as a movement tool but they never did any improvement and is stuck as a bomb, inkvac its that too "its to suck ink" thats not the main thing at all because the devs are scare of that. I was going to put splashdown too but its a panic button to kill instead to try to paint.

The doom and gloom really is killing the community. I don't know why the community is like this. I understand being disappointed that you didn't get everything you wanted, but to be so overly negative about the future of this game is very unusual. It does not seem like people appreciate the content that we DO have. I agree with Dude, it screams spoiled, honestly. I just ignore Twitter and most fan discourse about Splatoon. I've never fully understood the endless desire for there just to be new content over and over. It seems sometimes the moment content drops people want news on the next batch as soon as they've played the new stuff for a day. Splatoon 2 was dead and buried after the finalfest was done from many peoples perspective, pining for a new game, which is quite sad. Watching tournaments, enjoying content, supporting community efforts shouldn't rely on there being content coming tomorrow, next week or any length of time. There's always something new to explore in a game series like splatoon and content updates shouldn't be there to just jolt your interest. New content is really nice but propping up your attention and care for something relying on that just seems conditional rather than genuine.

I think people are desperate for new content because half of the kits are bad, and most of the maps are bad.

I agree man. Sometimes, it’s just way more fun to make most of what we get per update, hence why I got into competitive. However, I partially disagree with your point too, because there are times when I get bored of the stuff we got and want something new and different. Whether it would be new kits, stages, and even patch notes. Wanting new stuff ain’t bad, but I certainly agree that people need to chill when it comes to the content update stuff.

Agreed but just want to add that the fact that so many people are sad about the probably end of contend updates soon is an indication of how many people still love the game. Didn't expect you to be that direct speaking about something like this given how you spoke about the kit discourse in the last season. It's a shame that every multiplayer game has to be filled with an overwhelming voice of hate and resentment online. I can't remember any problems I had with splatoon 2 but seeing splatoon twitter for the first time leading up to the 3rd games launch had me thinking that splatoon 2 was a disaster for a while. It's kinda scary how easily a negative notion can be spread online like this, once people started claiming splatoon 3 was even worse I knew I had to just block everything out and keep my own opinion uncompromised. And to the people who've believed this game has been doomed for over a year, try looking for things to appreciate about the game or find something else that excites you the way you want splatoon 3 to, you'll feel a lot better when you get out of the mindset of hating.

finally someone with a bit of nuance and understanding. they havent said once that this is the final update - everyones just being pessimistic so it fits their confirmation bias giving them an excuse to hate this game for everything it didnt do, when S3 has done a LOT, and i mean A LOT more than either previous games ever did. its like a hivemind and it sucks. constant pessimism and wanting to be correct in the worst case scenario playing out is so weird to me and unfortunately twitter promotes that behaviour. i have 800 hours in this game almost and i can certainly squeeze another 800 hours out of what we already have, easily. glad theres people out there that understand criticism is not a shield for pessimism 🙏

The one thing I definitely do agree with is that if this was the final season and the final update, that would’ve been made clear. They said it with the salmon run maps that “Bonerattle was the last map.” How are the seasons any different. They never said this is THE LAST season

i’ve noticed how negative a good chunk of this fandom has became recently. a lot of it coming from splatfests and that, but even in general. people have just been so, as dude said, doom and gloom about so much. and i’ve honestly been baffled by the community’s reaction to this years sizzle season trailer. like yeah, there are a lot of pointers to things ending. but to be so set in stone about getting NOTHING after this season is crazy, especially right after the trailer dropped. it just feels like no one’s willing to sit and wait for stuff, it just seems so weird and silly to jump to conclusions so fast. i can understand the panic and uncertainty but come on man

extremely rare (possible the only) L from dude 😔 i luv ur content so much man but people are def not spoiled. to be more specific of the issues with these updates is how LONG they take. it took AN ENTIRE YEAR for stringer to get its new kit. The lack of content in side order despite the wait. The 0 qol to the gacha elements such as the salmon run scales (many players will literally never be able to clear out the shop). things like this are just straight up bad. (also other partly related things like nintendo trying to kill tournaments with their new hosting rules a few months ago) I think it's worse to tell people to stop complaining because these criticisms are absolutely deserved. We need to stop cutting nintendo slack.

The bad part is when people scream that the game is dead at every corner of the Internet. They barely explain beyond "maps bad" (Splatoon's maps were never that good), "matchmaking bad" (not every game can be perfectly balanced, especially at the higher levels), and "online bad" (with a stable internet connection, you rarely disconnect)

I dislike when people complain about the restrictive map design, kit design, special design, lackluster updates, poor matchmaking system (until recently), poor splatfest design, extreme meta defining weapons, map reworks, the poor weapon balance, and whatever other complaint there is. This game did really well and we should all be grateful instead of complaining about everything we dislike about it. Yes we had to spend over $80 to play this game online, that doesn’t mean we should complain about the game at all.
