Bamboo fabric is a natural textile made from the pulp of the bamboo grass, the bamboo fiber is then made by pulping the bamboo grass until it separates into thin threads of fiber, which is then spun and dyed for weaving into cloth. Bamboo fabric is similar to the softness of silk.
* Antibacterial - keeps you odor free and feeling and smelling fresh
* Highly sweat absorbent (Pulls moisture from skin for evaporation - moisture wicking) - keeps you dry
* Powerfully insulating - keeps you cooler in summer and warmer in winter
* One of the softest fabrics on the planet you'll love the way it feels
* Naturally UV protectant - protect yourself from skin cancer
* Hypoallergenic - natural bamboo does not cause allergic reactions
* Most eco-friendly fabric on the planet - help save your planet

Alternatively, bamboo cellulose can also be created with a closed-loop production process. Unlike the process used to create viscose rayon, closed-loop rayon production doesn't chemically alter the structure of the cellulose that is used, which results in a fabric that can be considered purely organic. While the solvent used to make traditional viscose rayon is wasted and usually ends up in the biosphere, the solvents used in closed-loop rayon production can be reused again and again, which significantly limits the environmental impact of this industry.
Bamboo fabric of the highest quality is made with production practices that do not extract cellulose. Instead, a natural enzyme is used on crushed bamboo wood fibers, and these fibers are then washed and spun into yarn. This yarn usually has a silky texture, and the fabric made by this process is sometimes called bamboo linen.
When bamboo fabric is made with this method, it is not environmentally harmful, and the resulting textile is strong and long-lasting. However, most types of bamboo fabric are not made with this mechanical process; to ensure that you're getting high-quality bamboo fabric, make sure that it is manufactured with a mechanical rather than a chemical process.

Thank you for clarifying . I just bought from "Cariloha", what I thought were Bamboo sheets only to see that they are actually Viscose. and 3 x the price of Pima Cotton luxury sheets. Question are the chemicals used in the process able to leach out when using?

Very informative. What is the difference between bamboo lyocell and bamboo rayon/viscose in terms of how the fabric feels in clothes and not how it’s made? Are they both equally stretchy, soft and breathable? Thanks!

I was going to get those boody leggings to replace my polyester leggings. Even though it’s not bamboo lyocell do you suggest still getting them or getting ones that say lyocell ? I’m on a tight budget thanks

Hi! I have the bamboo leggings from Boody. They are super soft and comfy. I like them. If you want something that will last longer (Even though I am not a huge supporter of synthetics), I recommend buying the best quality synthetic leggings you can afford. If you wash them on low and never put them in the dryer, they will last you longer than the Boody ones.

I think many people are overreacting about the chemical process ,let me tell you the true ,every cloth you wear even in white colors is treated by chemical stuffs .The softer and more comfortable clothes you want ,the more chemical stuffs are put in .

would be very interested in seeing your opinion on this comment Beate, You replied to every comment here except this.(cause it's fairly new I guess) I value your channel very highly and think you should get more viewers and subscribers like other say. I think your channel would be regarded as more trustworthy and valuable if you can raise your transparent opinion on sort of like opposition's thought like this

It is true that almost all fabrics are treated with chemicals (either in the growing of the plant or in the manufacturing process, or even both). It's not true that all "soft" fibers/ clothing went through the most chemical processes (think silk, cashmere). "What is good" and "what is bad" is a difficult question to answer, I think it is more on a sliding scale. You need to take so many factors into account. If you can aim for things such as: organic (GOTS), closed loop, better dye, and ethically produced it is a step in the right direction. Maybe have a look at this episode "THE BEST TEXTILES #ecofriendly | S2:E14 | Fibers & Fabrics | Beate Myburgh" kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5dsxpeeYsvggM4.html

Hi Katie. You can google "fabric shop" to find fabric stores in your area. I haven't bought a lot of fabric online, because I like to see it and feel it before buying. In the fabric stores they also sell patterns that will come in handy if you are a beginner. Tag in in your first project, would love to see what you create!
