    I bought bamboo furniture back in the year 2000. 32 bucks for a living room set. Very pleased. We have been helping the mother in law in the provinces of the Philippines, rebuild, after bad typhoons. The carpenter cut and split bamboo, and made some nice things. Most houses are bamboo. Nothing fancy. The wife just lo es baby nipa houses. I have started growing some here, in Arkansas, USA. I believe it has incredible market potential.

    I've been impressed by bamboo as a construction material for over 30 years. The biggest thing I noticed, other than what type of glue is used to make the construction materials, is the blockage by bureaucratic entities in the USA that are heavily influenced by existing corporations selling approved building materials that would be competing with bamboo materials. They virtually destroy the competition by lobbying against any competition.

    @@StraightToThePointTutorials_ I'm afraid I don't have any specific backup sources. I am getting old but I have seen many examples of that type of behavior where bad capitalism is concerned, like when the congress was lobbied in 2005 with over 100 million dollars by the banking institutions to change our constitution and it's Bankruptcy laws for private citizens but not for corporations. If you think corporations are people too, just declare personal bankruptcy and you will see how corporations changed our constitution by bribing congress.

    The fact that bamboo has been used for scaffolding is a testament to it's durability and strength as well as it's use in everything that timber is used for. Looking at some of the bigger diameter stuff they would also make fantastic guttering for homes and it even makes nice and soft long lasting cloth, I bought my wife a T-shirt made from bamboo.

    When talked about bamboo, people may think of Asia, but these miracle trees (grass), are grown all over the world (tropical areas)and increasingly become an important new material comparable to lumber woods

    Bambou is the miracle plant, and I really adore it. We can make litterally everything with bambou; the plus is that it's also edible and many species of bambou are delicious. It was exploited in China since a long time ago for all its benefits. It's so robuste because it's souple, flexible and hollow, and it grows so fast! I hope more and more people will awaken to the utility of that formidable raw material, because the Earth really need a profund change in everything of human's way of living. Later I want my home in bambou, 100% ecological and with that beauty that only bambou can provide.

    Marvelous to see the the way bamboo has been processed and used in buildings, furniture, artefacts, cutlery, crockery and more. The models made by the young Ecuadorian pheasant are fascinating. The great thing about bamboo is that it is a renewable resource, restores degraded lands, it is flexible, strong and light, it's multifarious uses makes it one of the best resources on Earth. This video is well made and worth watching.

    Bamboo is used extensively in North Eastern India too, as it is a plentiful and easily available raw material for the local inhabitants. The government should encourage this bamboo industry and build up the local economy 👍

    *Bamboo is a beautiful material.* Went to an event in the new 5 star hotel. All their walls were with polished bamboo panels. It's a beautiful and sustainable material. The bamboo flooring is nice too, because it's like hard wood that is also resistant to water damage to some degree. Bamboo will become more and more used on our planet, because it works well and grows fast.

    @@larslover6559 , in former times, the costs where to high for transporting the material to the west, but nowadays the material is pressed with new machines and with high quality glue, which makes them very useful in our woodworking methodes. And because they grow so quick, it's also good for the environment, and let's not forget the quick replacement for the farmer himself. The only way to improve the use of bamboo, is as buyer to insist on better quality in woodwork. As we see today, the bamboo plywood is mostly used in public places like schools and libraries, and in Germany also on workbenches and worktables.. On high pressure, you could easily make a bicycle frame from this bamboo, ready in a minute.., but it still isn't a breakthrough for our perseption and market.

    It would be economically unwise to use bamboo in Canada bc we produce more than enough sustainable Wood stock. We don't produce bamboo so we should tariff it even more than now if we care about the economy and the environment. Slow growing forests allow animals to use it, monoculture crops of bamboo do not support animal life. The quicker it is to grow, the less the plantation offers to nature as animals will not retake the space after harvest. Every harvest leaves a generation of animals exposed and without food supply, bc the most efficient way to harvest bamboo is by clear cutting. Faster is not better.

  • @ThomiX0.0

    @ThomiX0.0

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@FletcherHillier , there is a major difference in the way of harvesting bamboo. The farmer takes only(!) the young and new grown outer stems, in order to make the 'motherplant' react with new growth. If not: he looses his volume..as outer growth becomes bigger every time you harvest..and young new plantroot makes useless small ones. Keeping this material at bay, means you haven't seen the whole picture jet.., as it isn't a thing of ' my country ' or ' my environment ', it is the whole world needing a good and sustainable building material. Partially wood and partially bamboo, without clearing the area completely as we do right now. Bamboo farms are green forever without the clear and open places like the wood farms, the light stems are taken out piece by piece, and you cannot even see a difference if you do so. Something to learn about for us westerners.:-)

    it's real Bamboo mission here in this country ; Ecuador or so. In India the The Bamboo mission was launched by Honourable late President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam . The mission has wide and varied tasks ; it is to be continued with greater vigour for more and more benefits to the communities and the Government.

    I was walking in a city bush area in south Africa when I bumped into a thicket of this stuff. my dog and I never came out the whole day, just sat there in the quiet with the bamboo leaves covering the floor like a blanket and the bamboo poles squeaking in the wind. We thought of all the things we could build with those poles. I wondered just how long that thicket would last with thousands of squatters moving from the countryside to the cities.

    When bamboo gets old it can start to shed very tiny splinters that are almost invisible but get into your skin. Keep that in mind when handling it.
