What is Avant-Garde Art? (Becoming Artsy 106: AVANT-GARDE)

For the Season One finale of Becoming Artsy Jessie interviews Marcia Reed, Chief Curator of the Getty Research Institute, on her exhibition "Fluxus Means Change."
Fluxus was a group of artists started by George Maciunas in the 1960s and included artists Yoko Ono, Benjamin Patterson, and many others. The "Fluxus Means Change" exhibition highlights the avant-garde art collection of Jean Brown, an artist, collector, researcher, and pillar of the Fluxus community.
From tackle boxes to object boxes, eccentric lighting displays to spinning clocks and wooden airplanes, Fluxus Means Change challenges notions of "traditional" art.

What a wonderful idea - so simple but so meaningful for both the giver and the "getter"! You can tell that Marcia was very touched :)
