Love these collabs between Eugene and Daniel, so much knowledge here!
I love the flexibility that being a hybrid athlete brings, as well as how it makes me more well rounded and balanced for most every aspect of fitness. Pursuing running, weightlifting, powerlifting, strongman, callisthnics, swimming, rock climbing, mma, wrestling, fighting in general, sprints, conditioning, jumps, biking, etc. really adds a ton of fun to my training, and i can periodie and specialize in any number of ways to fit my schedule or what i feel like doing. Its amaizng. 24.7.5
It’s because the specialists have so much sway in the fitness industry that the term hybrid training is needed.

Jack of all trades, master of life.
I've always preferred strength, power, and performance over trying for full on aesthetics. Also, it's things like balance, agility, and stability that matter with age. I mean, I'm glad I have visible abs year round and everyone wants to look good naked. But ultimately health and longevity are driven by well rounded training.
My routine Push- Weighted dips, pike push ups, weighted push ups, cable overhead tricep extensions, lu raises Pull- Weighted pull up, Tuck Front lever raises, One Arm Incline Ring Row, DB bicep curl, Cable face pull Legs- Bulgarian split squats with dumbbells, machine belt squat, machine hip thrust, seated leg curl, seated calf raises

Thank u guys!! Thank you
Very insightful, thank you!
Awesome conversation! Thanks so much!
I do athletic bodybuilding like mario rios preaches mainly focusing on compound lift with some isolations after it but the only thing I haven’t done for more than a year now is do any cardio as my gym treadmill is manual and really bad and doesn’t have any form of cardio machines lol but now i have made my mind to start and will start with 30 min run from this sunday
This was an amazing discussion, thanks for sharing. Depressed Eugene really resonated with me as I had that mindset for decades and it was really debilitating. Fortunately i got out of it and can enjoy life my way and feel inspired by others instead of intimidated. You guys create great and informative content together and i hope it continues. Maybe you could do this regularly as a podcast? Thanks for making this content, it has helped me change my life and fitness habits in a positive way.
Very interesting discussion guys! You’ve given us lots to contemplate. Very helpful, thanks for your honesty!

This whole "hybrid training" buzz is so amusing. I've always done multiple things to stay fit and healthy, isn't that how the human body evolved? Now if you do more than just one thing, it is suddenly called hybrid training, LOL! Boxers run and skip rope for fitness. Martial artists do strength training for power. Most sports include weight training of sorts. Runners go to gym to do squats etc for muscle strength. I bet none of those people ever thought that they were "hybrid training".

That's not true, a lot of young men are funnelled into body building only. This is about diversifying.

I totally understand what you're saying. I've been in fitness for many years and what is called "hybrid training" was just staying in shape. When did it become this complicated?

@@hocuspocus6681- Sadly this is a negative influence of social media. Also, the ironic thing is that guys on average today are much weaker. I mean, people now claim that 225 on flat bench is some unachievable elite standard for most of the general population. In the mid to late 90's when I was in high school, most guys were repping that with strict form by 16 or 17. Then hitting 315x5 by 20 was a good goal.

Great comment man. I have always had the same mindset as well. But you and me are a bit older and weren't heavily influenced by social media aesthetic culture starting out.

Yeah, one of the guys I still see from highschool use to be pretty shredded when he was looking for a girlfriend.. now he's running his own business, got two kids.. no time for it anymore. It's a shame, but it's not like he's wasting the time. Hopefully he picks it back up when his kids are a bit older, and before health issues start cropping up.
I think the idea that cardio kills gains from the bodybuilding community. Outside of that, however, look at athletes like Ronaldo or LeBron James. These guys are very muscular, and their sports are very cardio intensive.

It will affect strength and muscle if it's done too much. Professional athletes use PED's so in the context of just what a regular person should do that's irrevelant.

@@tv26889 I mean, even when I was in highschool there were dudes who were absolutely jacked to the gills on the basketball team. And they ran a lot during practice. I don't think they were on peds. Also anything done to the extreme is bad. The point isn't whether or not it's overdone, it's whether or not it should be done.
