Is it just me or does this feel... not that good? Maybe my brain is too much in the wavelength of Adam Neely's recent(ish) video about tempo and nuance, but it's hard to say that speed doesn't have a negative effect on the "feel" which seems to be the core principle at least at the start of the solo

like 1:22-1:28 has clear intent, it's just a matter of the tempo that's making that not quite execute in a way that satisfies that intent

Vulfpeck is the bandification of the "if you can play it slowly, you can play it fast" meme. Insane flex. With that said, I kinda agree with you on that the "feel" gets diluted.

Honestly...the mid section there is soich missed tempo playing it gets really hard to put up with. As the pace really picks up it is banging but....I like when my bassists can play on every tempo without missing simple connections. All around a hot piece though.

Ya know, it's really funny how people will go nuts over this and appreciate it, yet as soon as it's 300bpm tech death with the bassist doing utterly absurd, fast things, people don't even bat an eyelid. One of the most infuriating things I constantly see. It's like everyone completely rejects true skill and talent. I say that because this guy, although very good and having some _t a s t y_ licks, is pretty mid at best compared to many other bassists I listen to. Esp in the speed dept.

The crowd!!! If you are someone who cheers and yells while an artist plays/sings, please know that I hate you and your selfishness. It’s disrespectful to the artists and everyone else in the crowd and it’s you saying - I’m going to make this moment about me. Go nuts when the song is finished. Fill your boots. Scream your heart out. Just let everyone else enjoy the music without having to strain over your need to be noticed.
